Oh no ... Ugh, wheres my vodka..
Google Stadia
No.
It seems like some comments from part I around MTX are being misconstrued.
New materials (shards) are being added, the entire library of materials will once again be diluted so only people spending 20-40 hours a week on the game will be able to afford anything of reason, was that the part we got wrong?
Mods have both an Energy cost and an elemental affinity.
So take RNG , and now multiply the requirements by x3.| Hey, remember when you secretly were nerfing XP gains, then when you got caught you upped the XP requirements instead?
By chasing a good stat roll
Multiply current RNG by 5X...
A number of the current mods will not work in the new armor that’s dropping this fall.
Everybody knows the lyrics to this song: " LETS, DO, THE GRIND HAUL, AGAIIINNNNNNN~"
Here’s how we hope this works: If you’re a pretty hardcore player (or really lucky!)
... Are you just flat out admitting that the entire point of deriving any fun from this game is either : A: Being a streamer with 40 hours a week sunk into this B: Being a college student with no job spending 40 hours a week on this C: Simply being LUCKY ????? Hey.. Remember HALO? You know, where Fun was to be had repeatedly finding new ways to beat the campaign? Where PVP wasnt ruled by who was LUCKY enough to bring in 2 tap god tier ttk weapons and everyone was on a level playing field? Remember how loadout based PVP, that exact system was basically the death knell of FireFall , your progenitor?
As the weeks go by and players approach the Shadowkeep Power cap and start finding mods with enhanced perks, we think that’s when our most invested, progression-chasing players will start to move over.
It really feels like you are just looking at that 90% player base who just wants a fun accessible game and Actively denying its existence.
World First
You keep bringing up World First events from the past year like they were not a joke. -Certain- people got away with openly grinding exploits for light leveling, and it was very apparent that the clues or lack thereof for figuring out puzzles was a detriment to the process. You cut out more people than ever on who could even stand a chance of entering a day 1 raid.
Or maybe, like me, you’ll do both at the same time (but hopefully with less mocking from your so-called friends).
Oh well that parts not a problem. Everyone I know who started this game in S1, is gone. They LEFT for all the reasons people left and stayed away.
Which means that right now, you could (should!) stop spending currency to infuse your gear sets or that C-tier of weapons that you're keeping around until the patch notes just in case they are going to be good after the changes (there are many buffs coming and it is very tempting to spoil a bunch of them, but I said this wasn’t gonna be the patch notes!).
... You introduced Spider and more recently the Tribute Hall which was quite literally designed to devour ALL of our currency.
World Drops
Credit where credit due, some of this sounds ok. Still questionable when it comes to retooling the power levels because of how ... abundant.. they supposedly are going to be.
This way, even if a player doesn’t play the raid, Iron Banner, or the [REDACTED],
... its not that people don't WANT to play activities... you have made it impossible for them to participate through a lack of integrated team making tools, automated matchmaking for raids and Nightfall, which, lets be honest, Nightfall doesn't require anything but higher LL's to accomplish most of the questline and bounties needed for it, but you STILL NEED A TEAM, and Raids are designed with arbitrary mechanics that simply lock people out because of 'reasons'. You have people paying for end game content that you aren't allowing them to play due to game and social mechanics that will not let them participate. PLEASE REVIEW THIS VIDEO https://youtu.be/b2l2ZxNhCSg Look... Destiny 2, has amazing art, wonderful lore, solid gameplay. I cant deny that, but SO MUCH CONTENT Is basically gate kept by strike team requirements and EXCESSIVE amounts of grind already, and Im seeing MORE grind with this update. You literaly have a Seasonal Grind Item that requires players to regrind every season because you'll REMOVE the one they already have. And thats what makes all of this so frustrating. I still LOVE Destiny2 , but... if all im going to be able to do is a couple missions solo, and then be left to re-grind the same old content...it doesn't feel like you love your players back.

    • Wow. You know you are going to fracture the declining player base even more. Pinnacle power? Affinity? More of the have and the have nots.... You guys at bungie have lost it. Like lost it. Really lost it. There is nothing deep in this. Its grind and elitism. Awesome. Yeah this director's cut is a communication fail. You dont know your players, you develop in a vacuum and the game sheds players. Free to play (part of the game) and cross save wont save it.

Catering to the Elites AGAIN!!!! By making Raids the only way to achieve Max Power. This is going to prop up those Toxic LFGers who put stupid requirements up like have 15+ Clears, Have Outbreak, have this that and the other thing etc and people who want to learn the Raid will be turned away. Way to repeat the same mistakes. The more I read about Shadowkeep, the more I am inclined not to buy it. I’ll give Jedi Fallen Order and Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk2077 next year.

No more excuses. You and the entire team knew full well that we were going to love the agency the chalice afforded us in Opulence. You’re not stupid and neither are we. What it sounds like is you willfully chose to keep a similar system out of Shadowkeep for your own selfish reasons. I’m telling you now, if Shadowkeep doesn’t offer anything like the chalice system or offer player agency over the grind; there will be hell to pay. You better get your team working on something if you want this to be a successful season. Less Eververse and more stuff that matters. Time to shift focus. So let’s pull our heads out of our buttholes and start making better decisions. Please. For the love of this franchise, give us more avenues to limit the effect of RNG on our grind. Chalice was a perfect example of what every season should offer going forward.

          • Jesus Christ, what a convoluted mess you're turning this game into .....all of this nonsense will backfire so hard come Shadowkeep, I'll get the popcorn. But I guess for the no-lifers and streamers it'll be a wet dream to get an even slower and more inflated grind for no reason other than keeping them busy. You guys are creatively and morally bankrupt.

            •
We’re setting the Power this Fall to 750 for both returning and new players. We want you to all be together when Shadowkeep opens. Here’s what this means: Every single item in the game is being raised to a Power floor of 750 when Shadowkeep and New Light launch. Every item in your inventory (and vault) is going to automatically jump to 750. It's like a free global burst of infusion for all players.
Congratulations! Quite possibly the worst decision you have ever made.

♡ Feedback part 1: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/253175221?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1 Let's just jump into it. 1. No more Bright Engrams. Sure, I understand this. Recently, "loot boxes" have come under fire being labeled as gambling so straying away from "surprise mechanics" is understandable. "Instead of buying a bunch of engrams and sharding them to generate Dust." Seems like this is the case. 2. Elemental Affinity Armor. Why is there a separation, and why do only specific elements have specific mods? I know this isn't as bad as it sounds but take for example.. a bad example. Look at MEA, during it's time of introducing new things to the MP, they increased the loot pool exponentially by 300% for no reason other than to give players something to grind for. For example, you have a certain weapon that has a unlock/upgrade system from 1-10. 1 is unlocking the weapon, but with each upgrade you can max it out at 10. What they did was introduce 3 more weapon types, Siphon, Bulwark, and Concussive. These weapon types were not unlocks for the weapon, but 3 totally seperate weapons, of the same weapon that each had an unlock/upgrade of 1-10. So about 54 weapons that could be ranked up to 10, that also had 3 additional seperate versions that could be ranked up to 10 as well. That's 216 weapons, times the upgrades.. That's 2160! This..was bad, and I can't really give some accurate feedback about this new Armor 2.0 system, with it not being released yet, but I do have to say they do share some similarties. I'll just leave it at that. 3. Retiring Mods. Well, at least we get to keep our old mods for our old armor this time. (I still currently have retired mods on my Y1 armor). I should probably stock up on some Y2 mods before Shadowkeep, since I'm using some Y1 armor that isn't going to get a 2.0 version. (Faction armor)
"We’ve converted all current Destiny armor to use the stats, so cooldown durations will change as we migrate to the new system. You’ll be able to see the cooldown timers of your legacy armor when Shadowkeep’s patch goes live.
Does this mean cooldowns will become slower than they were previously to accommodate the Tier system? or does the Tier systems just mean overall increase capability to stats? Like I was experimenting with a Nightstalker with Sixth Coyote and 5 Paragon mods. I can max out the cooldown of my dodge (with exotic) to give my Hunter only 5 seconds of total visibility before going Invis again. Does this mean if I maxed out Discipline, the gap between how long I have to be visible will close? 4.
"The number of powerful sources in Destiny 2 ballooned during the annual pass. We’re curating down the sources in Shadowkeep. Our target is to get the number of powerful sources closer to Forsaken-launch levels. In Forsaken, as you over-leveled an activity (meaning your Power gets higher than the activity), the activity’s rewards would become less valuable (the inverse was also true for being under-leveled). In Shadowkeep, we’ve changed that. Instead, the system will advertise a consistent expected powerful reward, regardless of your Power relative to it."
"Forsaken-launch levels" Where the only way to level up was to do daily/weekly challenges and Dreaming City stuff, which you were underleveled for, and Prime Engrams. All it did was cause people to use an exploit of sorts to attain power beyond normal means, and for what? To leave everyone who didn't do it behind? It took a literal month for me to even get started on Forsaken endgame content, it was really disheartening and one of the reasons why I personally dislike Forsaken even though most people praise it as the "beloved Forsaken era". I really hope my Shadowkeep experience is not a repeat of Forsaken. 5. World Drops being equal to your base power is a small impactful improvement. 6. Pinnacle activities rewarding power above 950. Yes, this may be a great idea! Just combine it with a standard such as Menagerie v Heroic Menagerie! Have an easily accessible mode that everyone can play and matchmake in, then have a more difficult version, a Pinnacle version, that rewards pinnacle power and rewards. It's about time Raids had a Story mode. A week after it's release so World's First people can have their fun as well as everyone else. ♡

So overall Bungie broke things again for the umpteenth time that was never broken. There should be a reward for this, no seriously, a trophy and it should say, "Worlds first, how to continuously brake things for 5 years that are not broken" Edit: I will even help pay to create this. Ooh! I even got an idea for the design.
HULK SMASH!!!
Edit: All jokes aside? Bungie, your actions speak louder than your words and after 5 years, people tend to catch on to the repeated words that have been mentioned many times, but your actions a lot of the time have shown otherwise. So in all, you can't expect people to trust a lot of things you say. You want people to trust your words? Then you need to learn to follow through with the words you have the community managers post on this forum or anywhere for that matter. It's simple logic that as adults and 12 years of working on this game and the feedback that has been given to you in the last 5 years? there is no excuse to not know this.
You guys have Dmg, Cozmo and sometimes Deej will show up on here posting what you want them to say. That's good an all, but you can't use the word "communication" and stay silent for over a year with the simplest thing any company can answer in this entire world... "When are Factions coming back"? Telling the community... "we're still taking feedback" for over a year is not in any way any form of communication period. That is actually you ignoring the player base for over a year now on a simple thing to answer. Now correct me if I'm wrong, because I have no problem with that, but wasn't it mentions that factions would come back in season 7? As I said, if I'm correct and knowing they didn't, where is that communication you're talking about? Words don't mean anything in today's world, taking action does.
So, I will ask for the entire community for the thousandth time. When are factions coming back? Or did I miss that memo? 😄

              • Am I the only one that is thinking "why aren't you just going back to D1 armor?" I just do not understand how we take a system that was working and run away from it as fast as we can. Keep tripping over ourselves and then "OH WAIT, I GOT IT THIS TIME!"...No, you had it at the end of D1, GO BACK TO IT!!!!! So, now we have even more resources we have to dump into armor, materials, glimmer, magic rocks, ascendant things, 20 pieces of wookie hair, what the hell are we doing? Mods have to match certain elements, enhanced mods aren't RNG in a RNG based game...MMO though, serious this time.... I've never seen a company over-complicate things and ruin their own work as much as Bungie does.

If you don't like what you're hearing don't pre-order it. Wait a couple weeks for the player reviews. Though I'm not sure this is the place to look for those reviews. : )

Congrats... For the first time since D1 released I’m not even remotely excited for the new Destiny content. To me it seems you’re just simply increasing the grind and I’ve seen nothing so far on how many new strikes or PvP maps were getting to do this grindfest. There’s no way I can spend another entire yr grinding the same stuff I’ve been playing for two yrs, the few strikes we got with Forsaken weren’t enough. This yr was a brutal grind simply because I can do most of the strikes blindfolded by now. Same with PvP maps. We spend most of our grinding time in these activities and it’s not fun repeating the same stuff for two or more yrs.

                  • A recent Destiny poll asked a simple question: "Is Destiny to grindy" 50,000, presumably active players, responded. 57% said No. 43% said Yes. Food for thought.....

                    • These directors cuts would be better if they weren’t filled with all the lame buzz words bungie has been trying to throw around to make the game seem more fun. ‘Breaking down barriers’ or ‘ever evolving world’ ‘monster killing machines’ and so on. I mean, nobody is going to start calling their guardians ‘monster killing machines’ so stop trying to make it happen, it’s not cool or edgy. It is just cringe. I know that you guys are your own hype man now that you don’t have the activision marketing team, but if that is the best you can come up with, this franchise is doomed

                    • The new armor mod system does leave me skeptical due to how it is ultimately controlled by RNG in order to get the right setup for a player, but I’m honestly way more concerned at the moment with matchmaking and PvP going into the future. There’s a lot of problems that still need to be addressed and they are all unrelated to gear/weapons/abilities. Take for instance Comp. It in no way is stable due to the numerous amounts of issues like dcs/dropouts before the match starts, more and lesser known connection exploits and lack of proper design to match similar skilled teams only so players end up going against the same people they just fought a match with before. Because of all of those issues, there’s a rather diminished player pop there and it will only continue to shrink in the long run. Either changes need to be made to actually make Comp fit it’s namesake or it needs to just be removed outright as it really has no fit place in Destiny.

                    • Luke Smith is trying to spin these changes as, "We listened and this is what you wanted." Not it's not. I don't see much here that was asked for. It's just more experimentation. The elitism seems to be increased. Some level is only attainable from certain activities. I am sure that those activities will be PvP based. Smith has stated that he loves Gambit. One can read into that that the Gambit concept will be more so integrated into general play. I opted out of Solstice immediately I saw that PvP was required in at least two armor pieces. If any one wants to play PvP, that's fine. Please do play it. But if I want to not play PvP, the same courtesy is not extended. Instead, I'm told that I can opt out of PvP, but there is a penalty! It's actually surprising how many of my Clan playing friends don't play, and will not play, PvP. Instead, what they do is hand over their account to PvP players in the Clan, to fill in. What a concept! "Don't like part of Destiny? No worries, just get someone else to do it for you."

What negatives that are hidden will come with any of the positives? As for Eververse, it put in the director is basically sticking it right in players faces. Nope. I am getting off this grindy, lying, nerf train.

                          • For everyone who still doesn't get it..... The goal here has to be to bring new players to the game. The way to grow revenue is to have more players buying the game and ultimately more micro-transactions. If you had a meeting to talk about how to get this kind of growth, you'd probably get these sorts of ideas: -Try a free to play model for part of the game to get people started, then they'll buy the rest of the stuff. -Take away as many advantages as possible from existing players so that new players can start and not feel left behind. To do this you would do things like control infusion by adding new materials that existing players can't hoard now, make all current armor irrelevant, probably change the PVP meta to be based on new weapons, etc. -Put more emphasis on micro-transactions and make it easier to get the "throw money at the screen" section of the user interface. -Have a daily log in bonus like MHW. -Probably a lot of other ideas, but you get the picture. Now someone in the meeting might say "So this is great for new players, but what about existing players?" This would trigger that "thrown out the window" meme with a response of "Screw existing players. They are bunch of addicts that are going to keep playing no matter what we do." Maybe in corporate speak it would really be "We don't expect these changes to significantly diminish our player retention metrics". Still, the emphasis has to be on expanding the number of players. This is pretty much the whole philosophy. This isn't Bungie specific, this is just how a business needs to be run. Once you understand that the goal has to be grow revenue then maybe the changes will make sense. It isn't about making a game to please everyone who complains, it is about revenue growth. I'll still be playing.

                            • What counts as a "pinnical activity" moving forward? Cause if the best mods are tied to running raids.. this will end badly for everyone.

                              • Whole ton of salt here. I'm legitimately excited for armor 2.0. I'm looking forward to reading part three. I'm heckin curious about the upcoming buff to scout rifles. I really hope it's more than just a damage buff.
