Many of us enjoy D2 PC PVE with controllers. The aim assist is a major part of the unique Destiny feel that makes it so enjoyable. Please take us into consideration before making a decision on removing/gutting it.

We understand that it's affecting the crucible in a large way, but Bungie has a history of trying to keep the gameplay the exact same way across both PvE and PvP - the removal of aim assist altogether will kill PvE gameplay for controller users since the aiming 'feel' is an enormous and integral part of Destiny. There are huge numbers of D1 vets looking to migrate to the PC platform while keeping the classic controller setup. This post at the least is just another voice strongly urging Bungie to remember the PvE players too, before making a decision that would erroneously impact them too much. If the developers are going to remove or gut the aim assist, it is imperative that it only affects crucible. Controller AA is vital to PvE gameplay. It is an enormous part of why the gunplay feels so great and flows so well. Without the AA, controller usage feels very clunky and nowhere near as free-flowing or enjoyable to play. Please have consideration for disabled gamers as well, and those who just want the console experience on more powerful hardware. Thanks for reading.

  • Well congrats , bungie left aim assit in and it's now full of console gamers and xim users and the game is dying on pc . Bungie should of thought about the legit M&K users . So many never even bought this game because of the free pass given to the exploiters.

  • Mouse users are acting like they DON'T get a zero-recoil mouse profile. They are just butthurt because they think they should be wrecking but instead are getting stomped by actual good mouse users. They have no clue how often controller users kill them but they make the assumption that they MUST be cheating.

Sorry but I think it's going to have to be removed. If players want any semblance of a competitive and fair playing field, it's a no brainer. I have seen gameplay of mouse and keyboard players on console. Trust me, you want no part of it. Unless you enjoy rage quitting.

In PvP, D2 should reduce AA aid, AA gives a massive advantage. You may turn slower with a controller, but your aim is way easier compared to a mouse + plus having no effort when it comes to moving while reviving or strafing (while crouching, jumping, etc). This is coming from a console player, I just recently got into PC gaming. I did well with a K+M, but the controllers aim (Despite me not actually playing my Xbox in well over a month) assist made PvP a breeze and rarely missed shots.

          • Aim Assist on PC is just silly, get a mouse and keyboard or get used to playing without it, just another thing hackers will exploit. and if people are moving from console and playing on PC for the first time, Use a mouse and keyboard and don't look back will take a little getting used to but will be a much better/immersive experience. on a side note check in our forums on how to correctly setup a mouse! ;-)

          • Saying that "aim assist is part of the experience" is actually a huge slam to the game you supposedly love because it means the game is worse if you don't get help with pointing your gun at enemies. Have you ever sat back and actually thought about that? PC users have more buying power on PC than console users. Destiny 2 wins when we get our way.

            • Honestly, there's no reason why PVE side of things should be affected by this, since the main issue of aim assist comes from PVP side. Nobody's complaining about aim assist during Inverted Spire. And, also, nobody's complaining about controllers, themselves. It's when keyboard+mice gets controller's aim assist through third pary hardware, when the problem arises. So due to those two points, I believe controller oriented pve players won't be affected. I imagine, the easiest way to deal with aim assist issue, is to disable AA for pvp matches, only. I sincerely doubt Bungie is going to cripple, and possibly, lose a big part of it's community, right off the bat. Chances are, they're going to ignore AA issue on PC, or simply tone AA down, during pvp matches.

            • Easiest way to fix this is to have two lobbies/matchmaking systems in crucible. - You want to play with aim assist, then you are only matched with other players playing like this. - You want to play without aim assist, then you are only matched with other players playing like this. It's not difficult to do, just have the option to turn on/off aim assist in the setting menu. And have this option only available before you launch anything (crucible, strikes, raid etc.). So after you join/launch something you can't change this option before you leave the game and go all the way back to "orbit/director". Don't have the game "detect" what controller you are using, cause that can be spoofed and we have people running k+m with aim assist. Rockstar did this with GTA V online, so go ask them for help if you (Bungie) can't do it yourself. This would be the best solution. If anyone thinking it's not, they need to give a reasonable explanation why.

              • I really want to see an OPTION to turn auto aim / aim assist on or off, for both consoles and PC controller. I may be fine with some PvP playlist to have auto aim forced off. For all PvE, I always want an OPTION to turn auto aim on or off for controller users. I am too used to DualShock 4 controllers from PS4 Destiny 1.

              • Not to mention D2 Aim Assistance is much less than D1's. Imagine the rage it'll be if D1 would've been on PC.

              • Aim assist on PC definitely needs to be toned down a bit. It's YOUR choice to use a controller on PC. If you don't like it use a mouse and keyboard. It's you who has to adapt because you're the one opting to use something different to the default.

                • You will never balance AA with mouse and keyboard in a competitive shooter. The AA user will always have an advantage over an EQUALLY skilled K+M user. Because of this the only fair option is to remove AA from the crucible and only allow it to be used in PVE. If you really want to play competitive with a controller there are two excellent platforms to choose from. PlayStation and Xbox. PC isn’t a place where AA should exist in competitive play.

Simply put it is the PC platform, the standard form of input is keyboard and mouse. Supporting and prioritizing that should and likely will be the goal. If you want to use a controller cool, be ready for the disadvantage though. Be happy controllers are supported as much as they are on PC. It's not something you get on consoles if at all. Also adapt, use mouse and keyboard if you care that much. I have done both and play both well enough. So please go ahead and tuck away that response if you don't mind.

I'm mainly a PvE player, and I want it removed. I can aim, with a controller, without it.

I'd be happy if they gut AA completely from the PC version. I used a controller during the PC Beta (for PvP only) simply because of the advantage I felt I was getting. I wasn't going to out-shoot the players who were freakishly good at CS or Overwatch, but anyone else seemed like easy-picking 1v1. As for the PvE beta content, I played with a M & KB. Even with my potato like M & KB coordination it didn't feel difficult defeating AI opponents.

PVE players need to have some pride. The Souls community is all about PVE but we love a challenge. That's what makes it all worth it...Destiny pve community seems to be all about pwetty lights and hand holding. Learn how to aim

                      • Even if someone is straight up actually aimbotting in PVE it has no real effect on me besides putting their account at risk and making things easier for me. Oh wow he hacked to have a higher kill count in the end screen? Did I still get my loot? Did we still down the boss? The horror. Aim assist in PVE is no issue whatsoever and personally I hope it sticks around. If I decide I want to casually farm some strikes or patrols while reclined back in my comfy chair with a controller I'd love to have that option. The issue is the fact that there IS NO WAY TO STOP people from tricking their computer into thinking they're using a controller and benefiting from the aim assist with a keyboard and mouse. You also DO NOT NEED TO BUY A XIM4 TO DO THIS. For the last day of the beta I got the spoof going and went from playing my butt off to keep myself around a 2.0 k/d effectiveness to an effortless 3.5-4.0 k/d while barely having to play the game. It was free and braindead easy to get set up. Once you're going all you have to do is right click near enemy, left click, left click, done. People trying to say this is a normal level of aim assist instead of a straight up aimbot are either blind or delusional. Catering to the minority of people who want to pvp with a controller on PC isn't worth ruining the pvp experience for EVERYONE. And it's not just ruining and making the idea of competitive pvp a laughing stock (peer to peer networking aside), but it also completely ruins all casual pvp.

                      • If aim assist is not toned down for PvP the PvP scene for this game on PC will be dead very, very quickly. As far as PvE goes they can leave it the way it currently is if they like, I'm indifferent to it.
