Saying that "aim assist is part of the experience" is actually a huge slam to the game you supposedly love because it means the game is worse if you don't get help with pointing your gun at enemies. Have you ever sat back and actually thought about that? PC users have more buying power on PC than console users. Destiny 2 wins when we get our way.

  • It's just an immersion thing man. The less you have to think about it, and I'm speaking of pve in this instance. ) the more the game is able to suck one in. It's the player power fantasy. That's why the assist is in the game. However with the competitive nature of pvp in Destiny, it's going to have to be removed. I can't see how it should be allowed to stay in.

  • Buying power? Have you even thought about what you just said. The game costs the same on all systems. PC users aren't paying more. Destiny is a console gaming being ported to PC. Not the other way around, bro. What Bungie did wth Halo, the "sticky aim" made FPS games more playable with controllers. It's a big deal. You might as well not play an FPS without a sticky aim or an aim acceleration technique when using a controller. I've got muscle memory built on Destiny with a controller since the Beta. And now I get to run Destiny on Ultra settings on my PC at glorious 100+ frames per second. I want it to feel the way Destiny should feel. And I want to use my controller. It's seriously mind blowing how some PC users think they are some special breed that deserves special treatment. You're not. It's a console game being ported to PC and aiming with a mouse is child's play compared to a controller. Talk a needed a crutch. Have you even thought about that?

  • You are extremely ignorant if you think this is a port. I truly hope you do some research or watch a D2 Dev vid before making such stupid false comments in your next post on these forums.

  • Huh? I'm talking about PC. Of course I know what I said. It's going to sell on consoles no matter what, so obviously I'm talking about the only thing which is in question: Destiny 2's PC presence. I've seen several commentators around various threads saying that they are console or controller users who want aim assist removed from consoles, too. Obviously, your opinion is not unanimously held. I play Splatoon without sticky aim juuuuuuust fine. I wonder what the rest of the Splatoon playerbase thinks? Man, wouldn't that be a kicker? If Nintendo shooter players had more skill than Xbox or PS players? No FPS should feel like you're getting babied when you aim down the sights. We're not a special breed, we just want to play games the way they're meant to be played. Making control schemes as difficult to use as possible isn't a solution and you know it. I have thought this through more than you ever will, but that's not intended to be insulting. Just an observation. You can keep getting roasted if you like.

  • it's not a port, they built it for PC from the ground up. and are you really saying mouse and keyboard is a crutch compared to a controller? lmao

  •
you really saying mouse and keyboard is a crutch compared to a controller? lmao
Yes. PC gamer for 15 years here. Accurate aiming with a mouse is easy compared to using a controller....and I have zero respect for anyone whining about this.

  • It's not a crutch, it's preference of controls

  • That's the point. Neither device is a "crutch". ...and if you are going to call one or the other a "crutch", where you stand is a function of where you sit in the room.

  • What's the difference between a port and game that was built for the PC from the ground up?

  • "Porting is also the term used when a video game designed to run on one platform, be it an arcade, video game console, or personal computer, is converted to run on a different platform." The PC version isn't being converted, it's being fine tuned and adjusted seperately.

It is a shared codebase that was used in Destiny 1, that originally targeted the console market. Pretty sure that makes the PC version a port. Not only was it a port, it was an afterthought. Which is why it comes out later. Edit : I should say that I will be playing the PC version on release, but that doesn't change my opinion on it being a port.

Destiny 1 and 2 are different games, it's not a port. It's not an afterthought either just because it's being released later. It's bungie's first time in a while publishing a game on PC, so they want to make sure it's fine tuned and not some shit copy of the game

  • Destiny 2 was built on top of the Destiny 1 codebase. They aren't publishing the PC port. They are developing it. It is an exact copy of the PC game with some changes to the UI.

  • Whatever man, I'm not in the mood to explain why it's not a port anyway. Have a good rest of your day :)
