Core playlists are draining and destroying your game.

The fact that the campaign you worked so hard on received ZERO post launch support (secret paths, challenges for adept loot, cosmetics, or SOMETHING) while you celebrate GM's opening every month on 6 year old strikes is just absurd. Last season, you had 6 really good Campaign style Sever missions and did NOTHING with them. No unique rewards, no adept seasonal weapons on Master, nothing. You could've had rotating modifiers and gave it the GM treatment and people would've replayed them over and over if it was super rewarding and challenging. Destiny 2's focus on doing the same strikes as endgame content has to go. It's boring. We literally have seasonal content that takes a backseat halfway through. Also, based on player count, has reprising Destiny 1 Raids been worth the trouble? Season of Arrivals and Chosen did spectacularly and retained more players without doing so. I'm sure there's a good number of players who appreciated Kingsfall, but has it truly been worth it over releasing content like Harbinger and Presage which had equally amazing rewards and were highly replayable? Maybe reprised Raids aren't the best way forward. Maybe we need more new experiences?

  • I just want to highlight your idea of adding new secret paths to campaign missions and adept rewards to campaign/seasonal missions. That’s a really good idea, and I hadn’t thought of it. I love coming up with ideas to make content better, but I hadn’t thought of that. Props on that - hope they see this.

        • For strikes I think the very least they could is add things to them and turn the playlist into something more like a “party game” experience. -Spawn cores or bombs, disable all weapons. -Swords only, with plentiful heavy ammo drops -The Eruption like mechanic where not getting a final blow before a timer expires causes you to explode. A winner is declared for whoever had the longest stretch of time alive in a strike. -Zerg Rush mode, where all enemies are thralls, skreebs, cabal war beasts, etc in very large quantities. -Gun Game. Where there’s a chest at the end of each encounter that drops a unique white weapon. Everyone has to equip it to proceed and use that weapon. These weapons auto dismantle but can be a bit absurd. Like a 120 HC that fires micro missiles, A full auto sniper rifle, An SMG with unlimited range, a side arm that fires like Xenophage. Just stuff that would make the strikes feel a bit less mundane. And it could be random from one strike to the next.

Maybe we're all burnt out with the game. I know, I am. That's why I barely play anymore and am just waiting for the next season. There really is no point in this game except playing it the first two to three weeks after release. Given there are time-gated quests, etc., there is no reason to play in between resets. At this point, we need a new game that will fulfill our needs. I don't think Bungie will ever turn this game around and make it as fulfilling as we ever hope it could be. Can Bungie save it? We'll see.

            • That's what i've been saying and demanding since 2019. Guess what, they don't care. Bungie thinks 10 pvp maps from the year 2014 are enough, they think 2 gambit maps are enough and they think 7 strikes are enough for the game. And you wanna know why? Because they made those portions of the game free to play. They intentionally make those "free" parts of the game stale just so players feel the need to buy seasons. That's capitalism and greed, nothing more to it. Bungie is a disgusting capitalistic cog wheel in the ever spinning dumpsterfire of the economy.

              Running ancient strikes and getting your 10000th out of bounds is the definition of engaging content wym.

              • I can’t even tell you how much I love running the same strikes 3 times in a row.. all battlefield strikes (we’re close to quitter penalties for strikes too imo). Or getting me -blam!- handed to me in the broken PvP playlist. Don’t even get me started on how boring gambit is (kill enemies, wait for heavy, get killed by invader..rinse. repeat). It’s really stale.

                • If Bungie wants us to live in this world, they have to make it interesting to be in. Even little things like shaking up enemies in strikes according to current storylines would do wonders to make a lot of the content less soul-crushing to revisit.

                  Realistically, what would they actually need to do in order to revitalize the core playlists? Adding new guns, emblems, shaders, scoring systems, modifiers and whatever else isn't going to change the fact that you'll still be running the exact same strikes or "missions" you've been running for the last few months/years and you'll more than likely be complaining that they're too repetitive after a few weeks anyway even if they did add stuff. Same with Gambit too. Is a new map, gun or whatever really going to make Gambit any more fun? Is a ranking system or pvp map really going to make the stale crap invis/overshield ability spam meta any more tolerable than it currently is? Gambit has been largely ignored since they sunset half the maps and scrapped Prime. We only get a new strike or two every year and even now their idea of "new" pvp maps are just re-released old maps and the one time we actually get a NEW map it's universally hated by everyone. lol

                  • I'm honestly not looking forward to anything in Lightfall. I'm done buying seasons, they're just work. I hated thr last new raid...my idea of having fun is not reading symbols and fighting a clock the entire time. It's fine, the game can pass me by. I may buy just LF so I can still do GMs because even though they're all old I still enjoy running them...even Lightblade lol.

                      • When you log in and spend all night in orbit opposed to actually playing the game that’s when you know there is a problem. I played ESO and used to sit all night by a dolmen waiting for an event to happen, it was boring and tedious but at least I knew I was getting something meaningful out of it, you could play Destiny 2 until the cows come home and you’d still be no further forward. Apart from your weekly locked out loot you’re not missing anything.

                        • Core playlists(strikes) are both Bungies solution and problem. People want more strikes, new strikes, etc. but if they completely got rid of Vang Ops and put more effort into the seasonal content they’d likely be better off but I’m not sure. I agree with your WQ point though. The fact the legendary version exists after you beat it and it just sits there for… no reason is a shocking oversight.

                        • I generally don't touch the core playlists till there's double rep then it's 12/24 nightfalls for single/double reset Gambit I cannot be bothered with guns look -blam!- and nothings changed with its loot in what a year and maps have been -blam!- for what 3 years Crucible I'm hit and miss depends there's other stuff I'm playing so this game is in the bin till whatever lite playability happens on the 6th
