There is zero reason to have a 250 cap on deep sight weapon materials other than to artificially extend the grind. Unlocking the patterns already is artificially gated with pathetic drop rates, then after grinding for hours just to unlock a pattern you use up materials that were lost dismantling weapons for the neutral element and had no room to accept the other materials. Stop the practice of placing unnecessary caps on everything, how many times are we going to have this same discussion?

2 RepliesWeapon crafting is a very restrictive system, rather than an open and freeing system. Bungie messed up here. The goal of their game was to have tons of variety but they are actively preventing that from happening by capping the materials people need to work with for a conflicting goal, that people are going to disappear from the game after they get the roll they want, rather than play because they got it. What sucked about year one was that there was no possibilities at all for variety, and that's why people checked out. It's an unfair comparison to compare what killed the game in year one to the fear of it in year 5.

Yeah it’s terrible. I don’t even attempt to craft anymore
-
1 ReplyThey need to remove or adjust caps on a lot of stuff. Can’t tell you how many times I have had to delete 2,000 psychogenic intel to progress quest steps.

1 ReplyBungie claims that caps are so people will keep playing. This is wrong and I will explain why. Having low resource caps and absurdly rare crafting items only make me less inclined to experiment with various traits (especially enhanced traits). Instead I will pick what seems to be the best choice based upon what other players pick and review and if I think an expensive enhanced trait is worth it. In the end, this means I will craft LESS and play the game as normal. I want to make it clear that I'm NOT advocating for rare mats to rain like candy. But there should be several methods of obtaining them, other than a weekly vendor (with a limit of one) and a super rare drop from a single, high level event. Allow me to aquire a comfortable stash of resources from playing the game across all activities. I'll be much more inclined to experiment with crafting and spend those resources as designed. The notion that caps magically cause people to play more is asinine. In the end, it matters not how many materials I grinded for within a given time period. It will still cost X of mats to craft a weapon! And I am still playing the long grind game.

1 ReplyFeels like they have a mobile version of destiny grind this grind that collect 7 different currencies to unlock one perk on that garbage pistol, be careful not to reach your limit on this material while catching up on your weapon level, enjoy 71 replays to get that pattern but be sure you opened 700 chests first to unlock enough reputation to enter a more painful matchmakingless difficulty😆

other than to artificially extend the grind.
I've not done much with deepsight yet, but this is the part I don't understand. Does it actually extend the grind if I have X deepsight materials in my inventory vs. a bunch of completed deepsight weapons in my vault worth X amount of materials waiting for extraction? You still have the same amount of materials and need the same amount to shape/reshape a weapon. The only way I can think that this extends playtime is the time I waste having to run to/from the crafting table to the vault because I don't know how much of each material I have vs. what I need and then going through completed weapons to find out which one gives me adroit vs. ruinous vs. mutable vs. etc. etc. etc..

I agree with you. But listen, once you craft 1 gun, that’s it. You’re done. All you need to do is level it to 17 and then reshape it once and you’ll never have to touch it again unless you want 2 of the same gun. You chose your god perks. And the amount of time it takes to lvl grind a weapon to 17 takes rather long time. So getting your parts back again is no issue even if it’s expensive. I get the no cap and I completely agree. But the system does “work” if your not remaking the same gun or reshaping it every other level. Just one and done. Move onto the next weapon.

3 RepliesThe amount of "technical" people in this forum who think that storing numerical values larger than 500 in a database somehow affect the processing time negatively or would require additional memory to store the data, just hurts my head. Guys, please, stop.
-
8 RepliesRemoving caps is physically impossible unless they have infinite space for data, which can't be done. However, the caps being as absurdly low as they are is an issue. But really, the bigger problem is that we earn so little neutral element. You need like 750 to shape a weapon, and over 4,000 to reshape one with enhanced traits, and each deepsight gun completed only gives 200. It's nearly impossible to build a stockpile.

1 ReplyHow about remove the whole crafting system it's -blam!- up. I mean cmon it's bungie they know how to extend grinding and pleasuring the streamers who get payed for playing their game, and are to lazy to get a real job 🤭
-
4 Repliesthey need to remove all resource caps in general
-
Honest question. Why do you want them to remove a cap on materials you haven't found a use for? You have more than you care to use already, since you hit the cap.

Hamster 3.0 😁
Stop the practice of placing unnecessary caps on everything, how many times are we going to have this same discussion?
They've got their creativity down to a science. The science of husbandry. It means the scientific control and management of a branch of farming and especially of domestic animals such as hamsters. In this game, it's called hamster wheeling. That's the extent of their creativity. The science of making wheels for hamsters to run. State of the game. Enjoy! LMAO!!!

just increase limit to 5000-9000 and we should be fine
-
Nuff Said
-
Honestly it's fine. There's limited weapons with few perks worth the materials and the only great weapons are the raid weapons that you need 5 deepsights each. But hey give a man a fish and he'll expect another handout
-
did it not occur to them that people are eventually going to call them "deep sh!t" weapons?

30 RepliesI mean, removing it is a bit extreme. I think maybe 500 max would be a fair start. You won't be crafting 100 of the bloody things now will ya? I can see maybe over time as more patterns are released. As it stands, I just craft a weapon, level it up in Shuro Chi, slap on non enchanced traits as they're not worth the mats, and away I go. I am saving space too. As I craft weapons, I'm basically auto-dismantling any weapon I get that I have already crafted. Once you craft the weapons you want, you won't need all those mats you are wanting to horde. Well, until the next season, where you'll need to finish the augments anyway to get the patterns. But again, are you really going to craft every gun that comes out? Will you actually use each and every gun you craft? I have more questions but I'll put a cork in it for now. I agree the cap is too low, but no cap just leads to hording, and we all see how that one person in our family turns out when they die and we find three cats that had passed away after being crushed by all the un-used stuff.

1 ReplyI’m not doing any of it until it’s changed. Nothing worth grinding for, I’m not the type to get something just to say you have it.
-
Tbf it is dumb. But it’s also dumb that you literally don’t ever really need more than 250 and red-rims aren’t exactly scarce
-
I agree that caps are useless. However tbh I’m maxed on ascendant alloy as well as crafting materials. I fail to see the use of them. I used 3 for the Osteo, but since then I haven’t used anything. I will probably use some for the raid weapons, but that will be more ego driven than anything else. Is there something I missed? Please enlighten me if that’s the case.

2 Repliesyour forgetting the technical side of this despite not being in our inventory it still is taking up space and removing it would make that space on the technical side a mess I agree a increase is needed but removing it no thats not gonna work plus your acting like your low on the stuff when in reality we have letieraly any legendary weapon (thats not sunsetted) that can have resonance deep sight so your not running out of stuff to craft
-
2 RepliesWeapon crafting is a joke as it stands right now. The time needed to find weapons and unlock patterns plus the material and level grind to unlock perks is ridiculous. Plus you have better chances to get said weapons with the roll you want from activity rng in less time.
-
There are a lot of general items caps in the game that serve no purpose other than to have you return to activities you love so much (yay…). Other caps should just be uplifted, I don’t see the reason why strange coins had caps, ascendent shards, upgrade modules, rally banners, SPOILS of conquest, etc. I see no penalty on the performance of the game for us to have increased caps for many things, also GIVE US A TRACKER IN INVENTORY FOR CRAFTING MATERIALS. This is such an awkward system that feels like it’s not been optimized for this game yet.
