Proof what xur is selling isn't random!
The clip is now live so listen to DeeJ for your selves say Xur is not random. At about 0:58 seconds off screen in chat I ask if what xur sells is random his response at 1:04

I see people on reddit questioning what this clip is dated, while I am unsure of the exact date it was sometime in November.
Also if you are questioning wether or not DeeJ is in fact the one speaking, look at the symbol next to his name.

Since anytime I tell people what xur is selling is not random they don't believe me or ask me for source, I'm posting the proof.
When they were doing the bungie bounty thing on twitch people were asking what xur was selling the next day to which I asked him if xur was RNG and he told me what he sells is all planned out.
So for the person that called me out on my last post about this plz don't jump to conclusions and be an asshole when someone tries to clarify a false fact. Not everyone on here is a 12 year old making up facts as they go.
Edit 1: Some people are wondering why the link is broken, first off I posted this well over a month ago, since then bungie for whatever reason took it off.

Edit 4: I swear, some of you people are just plain dumb. "Oh, Deej responded and said himself that he was mistaken in the video. The game was just new and he was still learning everything." What other response were you expecting him to say? He was not going to deny the fact that it was his voice on the video saying "No, xur is not random!". He was on damage control, how are you so easily manipulated?
Edit 5: Also, to the people claiming that I am making a big deal out of nothing, who gives a -blam!- if hes random or not. Let me state again, I do NOT give a shit if he is random or not. My thread was made in response to the trend going on around the time of the original post. Alot of people were arguing if xur was random or not. I simply had the facts, and made them available. Sit there and spew your toxic words all you want, "muted for stupidity", "this guys a moron".. etc..etc.

790 RepliesHey, there. Let me attempt to clear some things up here. Xur is randomized. There are times when we can pull off miracles like making him stay in the Tower longer when Christmas is cancelled, but his inventory is governed by the same chaos that influences all the loot drops. Comments in that video about "the plan" were more about the fact that we know what he's selling before he appears, even if we can't reach out and stock his shelves ourselves. We set him in motion, and his will is not his own. Also in that video, you can hear me confessing that I'm not always in the loop when it comes to these things, so you should take pre-game lobby comments among friends with a grain of salt. That video was from months ago, and I was still learning the intricacies of all the new systems that we launched with the game. These conspiracy theories are symptoms of a burning desire. Gjallarhorn is the most popular ask that comes my way. I know you want it, even more than the collective requests for more vault space. As you can see, these are things that are beyond my control. I don't have one either. I'll do my best to talk to the people who create the code that drives Xur, and see if we can make him more valuable to you in the future.

Sorry, but you're only half right. It was proved on reddit a while ago now that he is infact random, although as Deej said - his table is chosen already (at weekly reset), so dataminers; or as they prefer to be called "leakers" can see what he is going to sell on Tuesday. That said, there are two Xûrs, one that abides by the 'rules' stated above, and sometimes there is a different one; who's tables are not what they [i]should[/i] have been. The second Xûr [i]may[/i] be controlled directly by Bungie, but it's more likely they do that just to stop the leakers.

3 RepliesYou people need to stop waiting for Xur and go get the G-Horn your self. I have seen it fall for me and others at least 17 times in the last 3-weeks. Just last week It fell 3-times in the 3- N/F I was apart of. then 2-people got it from the raids i was in. and another person got one from the ROC strike i was in, that's 6-times it fell during my play last week. I have 2-of them and i didn't buy them from Xur.

4 RepliesiPod users complained that the shuffle feature was not random enough because songs would repeat in a way that didn't seem random at all. In reality, the iPods were using a truly random algorithm. Steve Jobs stated that in order to please iPod users and prevent the annoying repetition, they had to make the shuffle feature "less random in order to make it seem more random". True randomness can cause repetition that seems almost coincidental, supporting the claims that Xur is truly random. It doesn't mean that bungie is telling the truth, but it is good support that they are.

Roll some dice and cover them before seeing the results come back a week later and its still a dice roll that was rolled last week. It has to roll before Xur shows up so it can be tested in a staging environment. Nothing should enter production without going into stage first.

He definitely isn't 100% random - At least what you and I consider random. My guess is items are weighed based on their value. No Land Beyond is weighted very heavy, and Gallahorn is weighted very lightly. This way Bung can claim that it's RNG, when actually they have introduced a 'house advantage' meaning that while there is a chance Gallahorn will be sold, it's about 1000% less likely to be sold then others.

He's not lieing guys, Xur is randomized and here are his two possible functions: [b]1)[/b] Items are pre selected to be put into Xur's RNG pool BEFORE he creates his weekly sellers page. Xur will "randomly" generate what items he sells for the week only selecting from these pre selected items. His RNG pool could be changed monthly or something like that to keep a single exotic from appearing too often. [b]2)[/b] Not as likely as the first, but Xur could generate a 100% random sellers page for the week BEFORE he appears (kinda like how LIVE tv is actually 10 or so seconds off) so that developers can alter what they think should be there or not. Even though Xur did in fact create a "random" sellers page on his own, altering his stuff afterwards doesn't take his own randomized ability away. [spoiler]I have a pretty strong feeling about the first one.[/spoiler]

3 RepliesIf Xur truly is random I find it very very odd that a few days after TDB DLC was released his ENTIRE inventory was DLC items only. It seems to me that if his inventory truly is random Bungie has the ability to make some things more weighted than others. Really, think about it, the odds of him selling all DLC items ONLY are astronomical and yet it happened.

They might have him generate a new roll until they are happy with his offerings just so they don't have to manually pick each item, but they look at what he generated, and then they decide that is good. It's just like IT people that use Random Password Generators, and get a bunch of options and then go for one that isn't too terrible to type in. Its still managed, even if it was randomly generated. Oh and I also believe anytime he decides to sell Gjallahorn, they tell him to re-roll until he doesn't. They will sell that when they want to attract back an audience that is moving away past their comfort level (like they did with the Ice Breaker, to get people back in). They will use the Gjallahorn as such a mechanic... and then be ready with numbers to report of how many people played, how much coins spent etc.... all just like like they did with Ice Breaker sale #2. I am willing to bet they will do it on a week that has House of Wolves specific Weekly (i.e. people need to buy Expac to get coins), and then Xur selling something people would be willing to buy Expac, to get coins, to get weapon... but what they maybe don't realize that as they have a useless new Xur week after week... many of us will end up with 100+ coins before they ever do something like that.
