iPod users complained that the shuffle feature was not random enough because songs would repeat in a way that didn't seem random at all. In reality, the iPods were using a truly random algorithm. Steve Jobs stated that in order to please iPod users and prevent the annoying repetition, they had to make the shuffle feature "less random in order to make it seem more random". True randomness can cause repetition that seems almost coincidental, supporting the claims that Xur is truly random. It doesn't mean that bungie is telling the truth, but it is good support that they are.
