iPod users complained that the shuffle feature was not random enough because songs would repeat in a way that didn't seem random at all. In reality, the iPods were using a truly random algorithm. Steve Jobs stated that in order to please iPod users and prevent the annoying repetition, they had to make the shuffle feature "less random in order to make it seem more random".
True randomness can cause repetition that seems almost coincidental, supporting the claims that Xur is truly random. It doesn't mean that bungie is telling the truth, but it is good support that they are.

Totally agree, if you flipped a coin and it landed heads 49 times in a row the odds are still 50/50 that it will be heads again. People seem to think the odds change with the previous result. Walk into any casino and watch people stare at the previous results of the roulette table and they try their hardest to predict the next turn. It is sad and funny at the same time.
