In my opinion, Halo 2 is still the best Halo game.
Explorability, replayability, and a fantastic mutliplayer experience. Not just competitively, but in a social way too. Superbounces everywhere, out of maps and various other glitches were part of what made Halo 2 so amazing.

9 RepliesThe game was rife with glitches and cheaters, though multiplayer was superb and is what got me addicted to Xbox LIVE. Halo 3 was a much more perfected experience. That was the game I spent all work looking forward to getting home and playing every night.

Gameplay was slightly hit and miss, but the story, art and music are some of the best in the entire series. My first real Halo MP experience was the H3 beta, so I can't really comment on that part of Halo 2.

Edited by Skittles x: 1/14/2013 6:34:21 AMSuperbouncing, glitching, machinima, competitive/MLG games, modding (though I hated people who did this in MM to cheat, custom game mods were the shit!), zombies, pre-game lobby warriors, going into BTB with 15 pink elites and screwing with the random, lore (ghost of lockout, golden warthog, etc), Bungie's epic easter eggs, the list goes on. Halo 2 catered to any play style. Whether you wanted to pwn n00bs, joke around, or just go exploring; Halo 2 delivered hours of entertainment. Damn you microsoft. I'd still play it every day if it was still there (and sometimes do still play it on xlink kai and xbox connect)

I miss this game so much. I'm going to be replaying the campaign soon, because I've (finally) been reading the novels, and I'm going to run myself through everything again, in order whenever possible.
-
I loved to super bounce and get outside the maps. I'd spend hours exploring headlong. I really wish we could've done the same on Halo 3.
-
Halo 2 was my first Halo game. The story captivated me and the multiplayer...well, it was the best any game had to offer.
-
2 RepliesGame was broken as shit but goddamn if it wasn't fun toiling for several long and miserable hours to get the asshole in the banshee to fly into the tunnel and hijack it at just the right time to get the scarab gun.

halo 3>halo 2 yupp I said it

Edited by car15: 1/14/2013 6:16:33 AMAgreed 100% OP. The glitches were part of the experience.

BUT TEH GLITCHES AND CONNECTION AND STUFF OT: I never really played H2 in its prime.
-
2 RepliesNothing compares to driving a tank up the mountain on Delta Halo. My penultimate Halo glitch moment. :)
-
3 RepliesAs the overall best Halo game, I agree. However, ODST just takes the top spot for the best campaign IMO. Three words to validate Halo 2 as the best multiplayer experience: Tower of Power.
-
1 ReplyEpic maps for sure.
-
2 RepliesHalo 2 is the reason I still play video games. I play because I'm always waiting for that same feeling that I got when I played Halo 2 I played 6000 games of halo 3 and about 3000 games on reach waiting to get that feeling but I never truly got it back.. It literally makes me tear up.

1 ReplyXbox mods + Homebrew server = Massive profit

Edited by ALI217: 1/12/2013 4:31:09 PMHalo 2 is best halo. I remember some good times, getting up early and joining custom games filled with people who would laugh at me swearing in my prepubescent voice.Infection on foundation was epic! Also containment was awsum sauce!

1 ReplyIt wouldn't be a bad idea to add a #universe to this conversation, to expand it to other halo 2 folks
-
1 ReplyOne of the greatest games I've ever played, I shed a tear when it died. H2 Vista isn't the same.

9 RepliesI had tears in my eyes the night Halo 2 MP was nuked from Xbox LIVE. So many hours, so many games, so many late nights and early mornings. Feelings, I have them.
-
Tower of Power made this the best game ever.
-
6 RepliesThe most perfect experience of all time. Absolutely flawless. By far the most competitive Halo game, way more than CE especially when you take into account the low bullet magnetism, tiny hitboxes, lack of melee lunge, non-broken CQC, lack of auto aim, and extremely useful weapon sandbox. The story had absolutely no plotholes whatsoever, especially when it came to the Scarab in Metropolis as it is absolutely not a plothole that the Covenant would send a giant tank to walk aimlessly towards an ocean. Or in Outskirts when the Covenant don't pursue Chief and attempt to sandwich him between their blockade and the tunnel. It was an extremely natural progression of the universe Halo CE built up, with absolutely necessary additions to the Halo lore such as Brutes. The gameplay in the campaign was infinitely more open ended and sandbox oriented than Halo CE, along with a Legendary mode that was very fair and fun to play. 11/10 game would play again.

My absolute favorite game of all time, I love it.

1 ReplyHalo 2 was the best multiplayer game I ever played. I recently actually found my mulitplayer map pack disk and plan to install it on my 360 (if it works) and maybe play with my rommates. It would be BITCIHN if it were to work.
-
1 ReplyEasily had the best multiplayer maps of the series. I felt the BR was just too good in that game compared to the rest of the sandbox. Still great, though. Didn't care for the campaign. It was just bland

Best overall game.
