How To Improve Trials of Osiris!

Here are some of my suggestions (and a friend's) to help improve trials to make it a more enjoyable experience! Also this is a discussion please treat each other with respect we are all in the same community! These are just my suggestions please be nice in the comments 1) So a fellow friend of mine suggested this amazing idea for a possible system for trials which would benefit everyone! The proposed idea is instead of only being able to lose once in order to reach the lighthouse how about a system where if you lose you get set back a yellow dot / game (or two) but if you win you move forward a yellow dot. You will still have to get 9 yellow dots of course. This system will allow less skilled guardians who are not able to reach the lighthouse and make it easier for trials sherpas to take said guardians to the lighthouse and thus reduces the need for pay for flawless people (which I do not agree with). The controversy behind this system is, it would give people less incentive for people to watch trials sherpas since they would more easily flawless themselves. It would also remove the concept that trials is meant to be unforgiving and means that more guardians will reach the lighthouse (especially those that struggle). 2) Another improvement I would suggest is spawn rotation! Most crucible maps are very asymmetrical and one sided and losing a game purely down to who has the better spawn is unfair I would suggest to Bungie switch spawns every round to keep it fair and unbiased. 3) Remove heavy ammo round! This round may be controversial, although it is a wildcard round some spawns are closer or have a higher chance of collecting the heavy ammo box which is unfair because the team that does pick up the heavy will most likely win. Also if you're a skilled team anyways and you pick up the heavy you will just further destroy the enemy team. 4) The rewards are so stale I feel like you should be able to earn normal crucible loot from playing trials it would give more incentive to play trials and so increase the player base so you don't have to constantly match sweaty players and if you have already collected everything there is from trials it gives me reason to play during the weekend. 5) Nerf Memory of Skorri! This artifact is very broken when playing against campy teams who just sit in spawn and wait for their super energies in order to win. It is toxic to play against and unfair to lose a team who don't use weapons but rather only their supers to win. It ruins the experience of crucible and is a very big reason why many people do not return! 6) Make trials purely CBMM! Have you ever played against a fully middle eastern team despite being from the UK / US? Well I have many times and it is not fun for either team to lose to lag / latency. Right now trials is SBMM per win meaning the system will match you with equally skilled players with similar or same amount of wins. Do not believe bungie when they say it is purely CBMM when we all know it isn't and I as well as many destiny youtubers all know this! Please give this a like and bump if you agree with any of the points! And also comment your suggestions or thoughts on this. If you suggest any improvements I will add them to the list and also credit you! I am a trials sherpa with a 3 KD average but I still want everyone to experience the lighthouse at least once!         • They just need to make the match making better for example was at 3 wins no losses and we got put up against a team that was on 8-0 its a bit un fair as they probably had already been flawless on other characters just an idea

        • Bump. I totally agree with this. This would make trials more interesting for the average player. My Clan and I quit playing Trials because it was just frustrating. But hey, the highly skilled players will disagree anyway. And I don't even understand why. Where is the downside in making Trials more attractive for the playerbase?

        • This is what happens when bungie just gives loot away. Now that you can get to max light without doing end game activities, the majority of the player base don't need to do it. Like think about it. If theres so many people playing destiny why aren't more people play trials? Because there's no need to play it. It a hassle playing in y3 now. And even more so when the bounties don't even give y3 loot anymore.

          • Faintz - I really like you as both a player and streamer, so take this feedback from a place of respect. Here you're certainly catering to a player base that doesn't represent the meaning of trials. Things like nerfing skorris, better rewards, no heavy, and better connections everyone can agree with, but making the actual system easier for people removes the exclusivity of the lighthouse and considerably lessens the reward of getting there. When we carry people to their first visit in the lighthouse, there is an absolute joy that is not found in any other game mode. If that gets lessened, then that feeling will be diluted and no longer will it be an achievement. No longer will people desire it, like they do now. The key to trials is that exclusivity and that needs to be protected. Yes this means that certain players will not achieve it without help, but that is also why those players try every weekend for it. The people that complain here will get there once or twice on your new system and will stop playing the game anyways. Why? Because they were never really invested in the game mode in the first place. They want it so they can say they did it and then they'll move on.

            • Trials is CBMM what are you on, even if there is a requirement to have certain wins. Just because you match teams from other countries doesnt necessarily mean they have bad connection. Im from the UK and all my Trials teammates are Americans. I also played with some Eastern Europeans. No lag throughout. As long as your individual connections are good, it should all be fine. Also, any idea that removes the unforgiving nature of Trials is not an improvement. Any idea that attempts to facilitate a flawless run for weaker players is not an improvement. Thats just not what Trials is about. Spawn Rotation isnt bad though. Removing heavy also isnt bad but it doesnt really matter. Removing Skorri is pointless. If people were to camp for supers they will do it without Skorri. Remember you need a super before Skorri is active. If one member has it, you can be sure that the others are close.

              • 1) No. Trials is meant to be hard. Making it easier would probably send off the trials tryhards, which, whether we like it or not, are the only remaining consistent playerbase we have. The casuals are back for SRL but they'll probably leave afterwards unless Bungie really works hard to fix their error in expecting a really weak DLC to last an entire year. 2) Hell yes. Some spawns are really uneven and though a good team can overwork that, it'd help massively to keep spawns even if they just rotate every round. Also, it'd force people to adjust instead of moving to the same damn location to snipe every round. 3) I wouldn't be opposed to it, although I'd rather have 2 heavies back instead. Perhaps a pre-game option to waive heavy before each team knows what side they're on? 4) Definitely yes. As I said, the casuals in PvP are probably gone from this game more or less but anything to bring the few remaining ones in without violating the achievement of going flawless (which is why I don't like #1) would be nice. 5) Skorris are annoying as hell tbh, especially on large, campy maps like Widow's Court. It shouldn't be horrible on Anomaly this week because of an easier opportunity to rush in, but it's a rather cancerous artifact that only promotes camping, especially with 3 stormcallers. Should only be a PvE artifact honestly. 6) It's primarily win-based but there's no SBMM to it. I'd like connection to factor in but unless the win-based thing is gone completely (which would be stupid), then CBMM can't really take a larger role.

                • Well um it actually wouldn't change a thing because think about it. The average player will most likly get sacked every time they hit 5 wins. Also trials is cbmm exsclusivly. It matches you based off the number of wins. Trust me when your going for the 8th win and no one else has a 8th win it will bump up your competitors. Besides that it dosen't really care how skilled you are. A new player can go in with no boons and play true vangard. To be real trials is mainly NFL vs your high school football team anyway. It ment for the 1% of destiny players and honestly they need to make it more exclusive. Mabey put a skill cap. Like you need to maintain or have a recent k/d of 1.5+ something like that so no average player can try as they will fail.

                        I don't agree with the first point at all. Isn't the point of the lighthouse to show the most elite players? I know Bungie are clearly making changes in favour of more casual players but this would be too far. Other stuff seems good though :)

                        • Sbmm isn't in trials. It's card wins. Believe me I go up against teams of 2+ kd all the time and my team is around 1 kd

                          • Seeing how there's only about 10 or so months until D2 comes out, I think the last thing on Bungie's to-do list is to completely revamp the way Trials works.
