THE CRUCIBLE DOESN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SPECIAL WEAPONS BEING OVERPOWERED OR HAVING TOO MUCH AMMO. Which is why three years of nerfs and trying to limit their ammo has NOT produced a balanced game. The problem is THE GAME'S PRIMARY WEAPONS ARE WOEFULLY UNDERPOWERED AND CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE DEMANDS OF THE GAME BUNGIE DESIGNED. Games where you allow players to choose their weapon means that they will always choose the most EFFICIENT (fastest killing) weapon at their disposal. Games where players move fast and unpredictably require a quick TTK if you are going to balance them properly. Bungie is FAILING at managing the Crucible because they are trying to force a game with weapon choice, fast moving players and requires balancing.....to play like a game that had NO weapon choice, slow predictably moving players, and a gear system that didn't require any sort of balancing. IOW, the only way to FIX the problem is to stop -blam!-ING around with the game's special weapons....and BUFF the game's primary weapons back to a power level that in balance with the speed of play, and the power of the game's OHK weapons. Otherwise, you'll just keep trying to pound a square peg into a round hole....and running afoul of Einstein's definition of mental illness.

    In terms of what the game needs to right the ship in PVP? Oh, hell yeah...... What the game needs now...are the same things the game needed back in Year One before Bungie went on this crusade to back-engineer the game into playing like Halo 3. THE GAME NEEDS TO BE ALLOWED TO ESCAPE THE SHADOW AND LEGACY OF HALO....AND ALLOWED TO BE ITS OWN -blam!-ING GAME. Bungie needs to accept the nature of the game they created. Which is a combination of Titanfall 2 and Overwatch. Fast, fluid with a rock/paper/scissors kind of counterbalancing. IOW, this game is NOT a pure shooter in either PVP or PVE. Its an MMO/RGP/FPS hybrid on the PVE side....and its a MOBA/FPS hybrid on the PVP side. So MIND SKILL of managing the game's asymmetries (move and countermove) is a much a part of the game as the THUMB SKILL to outshoot and out maneuver your opponent. If Bungie accepts this, then fixing the game is pretty simple: Buff the game's primary weapons back to Year One power levels. Keep the range-drop offs that have been instituted in the game, and RE-BALANCE the game around that 0.6 second TTK....as opposed to the 0.9-1.0 sec TTK that most weapons have now. What that will do is a few things. 1. It will force OHK weapons back into being situational weapons. Because you'll (once again) have primary weapons that kill quickly enough to pose a credible threat to the person who wants to run around and use his sniper as a battle rifle, or his shotgun as a primary weapon. This will happen because snipers will no longer be able to TANK damage while trying to line up precision shots (without having to resort to annoying/.frustrating flinch mechanics). Shotgun rushers will find themselves going up against primary weapon users that no longer have to backpedal to buy time needed for hteir weapons to kill. They'll be able to stand their gound and face down the rush. 2. You'll anger PVE players less beause you'll be free to BUFF weapons rather than having to nerf everything in order to balance the game around an obnoxiously slow killing time. 3. You'll make the game easier to balance, because the speed of player movement will be leass able to negate the range distinctions and disadvantages you've structured into the game. IOW, if I get caught outside of shotgun range wit that shotty in my hands....I'm -blam!-ed. Odds are I'm going to die before I can close to range of my own weapon. So either I'm going to need to get MUCH better as a player....OR I need to be MUCH more judicious about when and where I pull out that shotgun. IOW, you CREATE a reason for people to PUT DOWN that OHK weapon, without having to take away ammo, take away choice, or the host of aother annoying and frustrating things that Bungie has been doing the last two years in the name of nerfs. This way you create a fun, vibrant experience that leverages what Destiny does well.....and what makes Destiny unique. Rather than smothering the game tyring to turn it into a Halo clone. Something it can never and will never be.

  • Nope. This game never was a twitch shooter. ...and Buffing the game to back to its Year One power level and TTK wont' turn it into one. The fact is that this game will NEVER play in any sort of healthy way as long as the TTK is where it is. The only thing that will result is that Bungie will SLOWLY DESTORY this game, reaching the point where they've finally stripped out everything from the game that is different from Halo. Destorying Destiny...and leaving behind a sad, pathetic little Halo clone it its place.

  • Bullshit. I'm suggesting a RETURN to a TTK that the game had in the past. A past in which this game was not, and never was a "twitch shooter". Because----at the TTK that Bungie is trying to force on this game right now----this game is BROKEN. Its so broken that the only way that Bungie can keep people from running around and spamming OHK weapons is by taking away their ammo. Because there are no NATURAL disadvantages to using them as all-purpose weapons, like there are in games that are properly balanced.

  • 0.6 ttk, terrible, terrible idea.... Twitch gaming at its best. There were only BROKEN weapons with that ttk in year one.... Our fasted now is around 0.73 with a accurate two burst from a high impact pulse, and that's fine as is.... You want a half second kill time? Play something else....

[/quote] If it were "fine as it is", Bungie wouldn't have to take away special ammo because there's no other way to balance the game's shotguns. The game is broken...and will stay broken until Bungie either lowers TTK. Or strips everything that is different from Halo out of the game. If you want to play Halo....go play Halo.

  • Never played halo, don't know why your obsessing over that game.... This "like year one ttk" is just make believe. Last word and vex could kill you before most people's natural reaction times, and that's about it.... Sure two burst pulses were easier to get kills with back then, now you need all crits, which makes sense to me.... And there were reactive reload pulse rifles too, but that's similar to scouts and hand cannons now, situational.... I'm glad special weapons are taking a back seat, having been primary weapons for most players for well over two thirds of this games life.... And yes, half a second ttk would make this a twitch shooter like everything else.... Now go pick up some special ammo, it comes arround every 60 damn seconds anyway....

    NP. Ninety-percent of this game's problems are the result of Bungie trying to manage Destiny like its an other iteration of Halo When the reality is that they've created a game that is NOTHING LIKE Halo....other than having FPS game mechanics. Everything else about this game is different from Halo.....and in many cases are entirely UNIQUE to this game. As one YT content creator aptly put it, "Destiny is its own GENRE now." He's right, because there is no other game that you can point to that is exactly like this one. Other game's have certain elements that DEstiny has....but only this game is the "whole package" that it is. So Bungie needs to stop tyring to force the Crucible to play like Halo...and dragging the rest of the game kicking and screaming behind it.
