There's nothing wrong with what he said. There's much more perfect examples than him. I personally agree with #2. This either stems from crappy timing, crappy rockets, or no rockets and failure to say something. Any of those tells me these people suck and I don't want to waste my time.

I specifically stated because of lack of damage. This means that it wasn't because of a mistake like someone falling I mean everyone shooting missing rockets or firing some crap machine gun then the following attempts will obviously be the same damn story. If the group doesn't have weapons that can bring him down consistently every time what are the chances they will down him 6 times in a row?

Downing Crota is the easiest part of the encounter. Literally just shoot him til he kneels. Do not confuse this with killing him.

Neither one of those reasons is from lack of damage. It is for the reasons stated. I literally mean all else went right and there was not enough damage to down him.
