THE WINNOWER IS NOT THE WITNESS
And neither is the traveler the Gardener.
It’s a representation of the 2 sides of Paracausality.
Edit: upon further reading, it would make sense that the Traveler and the gardener are the same.
The Winnower uses casual speech. The Witness uses we when speaking of itself.

Well that would be kinda right but also wrong. The witness when revealing himself in the cutscene said" you have no pieces to play" referring to the game they were playing and we all know the last rule they made was adding part of themselves to the game. The witness isn't the winnower but a avatar or at least one aspect while the traveler is one aspect of the gardener. Aspects and avatars are one piece of something far greater. Its like darkseid, yes you can destroy his many avatars but if he were to come into full being with the anti life equation everything would cease.

17 RepliesIn Unveiling, Winnower ascribed the thoughts and actions of the Traveler to be that of the Gardner. So the Winnower confirmed the Traveler is the Gardner. Nothing confirms the Witness is the Winnower, the lore indicates that they are not.

The winnower has never spoken to us, and that lore book was actually given to us by the Witness, which is why Savathun was interfering.

1 ReplyThe traveler and witness are not the gardener/winnower. We haven't met the latter. The only thing we've seen of either of those 2 is the statue inside the pyramid, that eris touched. The former, traveler/witness, are just para whatever entities. At first it was thought the traveler was the gardener, but the lore/ story has shown it's not, it's just a player in the light/dark game between the gardener/winnower. It's on the light side. The witness was on the darkness side, but now doesn't like the game and wants to end it all, hence why the final shape he and his disciples speak of is basically a great nothing. The pyramids are the darkness equivalent of the traveler.

Its syntax is also veeeeery formal. The Darkness is different. It speaks so casually you wonder if its just a human elevated to another state of mind. This is similar to how the darkness infused ogre speaks to Oryx after he made the Tablets of Ruin. That then sparks the question, did Oryx serve the Darkness or the Witness AFTER he became Oryx (meaning when he began to Take and his named changed from Auryx)

6 RepliesFor all we know, the Traveler is the Winnower & we are the bad guys after all. Have you ever shot at a random Fallen Vandal, just doing his routine as usual, & questioned it? Of course you haven't, because then what would be the point of playing right? We can't progress our ranks or bounties, because it requires the Guardian to kill. No kills = no loot. If you think about it, Guardians are no better than the Hive. Spawn into the Cosmodrome & you'll see Kinderguardians having the time of their lives killing Fallen...🤣

Either way they're just constants in the game, a game that leads to a pattern, even when the pattern gets broken (as it's about to), but even that is part of the pattern. A flower gets killed by the very thing that gave it life, but it lived again on its own. *The witness has already played their part in existence, but it's a good thing y'all only know them as the witness...I know them from another shape, just as mara had another shape... Most can only see forward, some can see the parallel and in-between.
