Help with an indie game dev project

So I've been working on an idea for a game for a while now that the few gamers I've talked to think is pretty awesome. I'd love to be able to develop the game myself, but have no idea where to start. The game would be a third person action game with high levels of customization and magic abilities similar to the ones in destiny (for the record, my game is nothing like destiny aside from the focuses on action, customization, and magic) so my question is how would I begin working on my indie project? If this all seems like it would be impossible for a single person to develop, how (if possible) could I go about selling the idea for my IP to another studio? Thanks for helping!
Also, the ideas for my game are much, much more fleshed out than what I've presented, but I won't share them for paranoia of IP theft.
I have no previous experience with this for the record.

 • Ideas are great, but are also very cheap. Game Designers come up with thousands of them a day. If you really want to sell your idea, you've got to bring it alive in some form of a prototype before anyone will want to jump on board with your vision. If you're really interested in Game Design, I recommend the Art of Game Design by Jesse Schell, that should lay out a lot of nice things for you to think about as you develop your game. You'll also need some way to contribute to the project than just ideas or design, be it art, programming, whatever. Where are you in your education?
