Hey, fellow non-relious people show some -blam!-ing compassion.

Seriously, you should really stop hating on religious people. Of course they aren't going to automatically switch to straight science coming from religion. Because when a person has a family history of a set of beliefs for X generations, they are understandably(if you can be objective for like, 2 seconds) somewhat resistant to new ones. No matter how factual they may be, and, seeing as religion is based more on faith, not fact this only further complicates matters. Seriously guys, you just told an entire group of people that some of their strongest beliefs are total bullshit. Imagine that, something you have been told for years, and is one of the few things you are sure about, is now a lie, seen as no more then a fairly tale, what kind of reaction would you have? For the love a possibly non-existent god, chill the -blam!- out.

  • The truth can hurt. Hell, the truth can hurt like a 2 tonne concrete barrier smashing into your face at supersonic speed. But is that a good reason not to seek truth? NO! We shouldn't live in a lie no matter how comfortable it is. Why? Because at some point in the future the lie will hurt you. At some point the misconception will have dramatic consequences. Look at our world. What do you see? I see suffering. Endless suffering. And I think we should try our best to reduce it. Not all suffering is to be blamed on religion but a significant fraction is. People hating each other, people stoning each other, people discriminating each other, people murdering each other. All because of an old book written 2000 years ago. IS that NOT wrong?! It is something we could prevent. Not instantly, perhaps not even in a century but slowly as we continue to question blind and irrational beliefs they start to crumble, Just like granite is ground to sand, even the most powerful religions will fall. And yes this is mostly aimed at the desert religions, but I have reasons for that. Firstly, I'm european so those are the one most visible in my life and of course 'murica has done an excellent job proving my point. Secondly, When's the last time you heard a Buddhist hurting anyone? I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I sure haven't heard of it.
