Destiny 2 is fully online with no reported issues at the current time. I'm on Xbox and playing Destiny 2 right now with no issues whatsoever. Whatever issue is currently happening is clearly outside of Bungie's domain since only a small number of players are having issues.
My guess is either platform services are having issues or there is an issue with ISP datacentres which is causing issues for a select number of players. Destiny 2 itself is fully online with no issues.
Destiny 2 is not played on servers. We all log into the same service, so if there were issues with the game everyone would be affected.

As Lone Wolf said, we're just posting to inform, thats all. It's very likely the guys in the mail room (forum) aren't privy to EVERYTHING thats going on, most likely by design. Meanwhile Bungie is prob aware and just not acknowledging it publicly while they quietly fix it before it becomes a wider issue. They may still come out here shortly and say that there is, in fact, an issue. Or not, it's a mystery!

Using another video game to troubleshoot network issues is never a valid form of troubleshooting in any capacity. Until Bungie makes an announcement, there are no reported issues with the Destiny 2 game service. See the below link for help. http://help.bungie.net -

I just got done texting with Xbox and they can't find any issue on there end I could tell it wasn't some copy and paste bs whoever I talked to genuinely checked to see if they had a in house server issue with Destiny 2
