According to the dark future lore. The one who betrays us is actually Anna and Eris. So if if anything Mara may just very well be the most powerful ally we have aside from caital. Not to mention she has a deep hatred for Savathun. So if she were to betray us, it’ll probably be because the real Mara is dead, or there be a dark manifestation of her body.

  • Do we count the timeline we are in as still capable of the Dark Future? Or would our dark future be different this time because we destroy the black heart, and properly controlled stasis?

  • I’m not too sure because the dark future is based on many different time lines. I believe it can still happen even though we controlled stasis and destroyed the black heart. And I’m hoping the exo stranger is heavily involved in light fall as she has seen many different time lines for our next collapse.

  • It won’t. The whole point of the narrative is that this iteration doesn’t fail like all the others. Just to clarify: Not timelines. There is only one. Elsie is in a loop. Same timeline keeps getting reset to a preset point, the parade for Cayde. This isn’t the same as timeline hopping. That’s an easy thing to do, we’ve done it on our own. The reset takes the power of the Traveler to enact, making it true time travel compared to hopping lines.

I agree with what you said. And my context about many timelines meant the same constant one, but a continuous loop as you mentioned. As there’s no multiverse in destiny. Albeit if you count ascendant planes, but these are more realms than separate universes. I believe if that were the case though, better writers would have to be involved. Not to shoot anyone down, but the writers we have currently are sub par in comparison to other games. We do have amazing lore though.

  • There might be other universes. The Winnower makes a brief mention in Unveiling. Page T = 0 “…In the wet pop of grapes and the smear of berries—in the perturbation of the field that was the garden before the first tick of time and the first point of space—were the detonations that made the universes. Each universe was pregnant with its own inflationary volumes and braided with ever-ramifying timelines. Each volume cooling and separating into domains of postsymmetric physics, all of which were incarnations of that great and all-dictating bipartite law that states only: exist, lest you fail to exist.“ Inflationary volumes would be the planes. The timeline has a primary with every ‘what-if’ making a branch from the primary and each other. Basically a tree with endless branches. The other planes having their own separate timelines doesn’t add up, they’ve all run on the clock of the material universe or else scaled in accordance to it. I’ll agree on the writer issue but this wasn’t too bad an idea. It explains the lack of importance with the other timelines we’ve interacted with ease. We are the only one that matters, the rest are just the energy of the cosmos playing what if. Gives them avenues to introduce new things. Who knows what they’ll do. It’s been basically fan fic writing with the frame of the og writers story. The only big change is the addition of the Winnower.

  • We are chronologically past the point of the dark future timeline. However, like you mentioned that outcome can still come to pass... There are definite milestones that Elsie made sure are different this time. I think Ana could still end up being corrupted especially if she loses Rasputin.

  • I agree. I still believe Anna is naive enough to get corrupted by the darkness. Whether that’s through a loss or utter ignorance from tampering with the darkness itself through an initial act of good. So in a sense she’ll try to do the right thing, but be too blind to see the bigger picture. She’s very stubborn if you ask me.

  • She's a Hunter, or course she's stubborn.
