That statement demonstrates an absolute lack of knowledge when it comes to the technology- You do not own just an image when you own an NFT. You are owning the code that guarantees your ownership of it. Digital art is very easy to reproduce and copy. A MASSIVE CHAIN of verification protocols to show you own the item is not. Block chain tech is in its infancy right now, and scams abound because the market is unregulated, but your spider image while cute is irrelevant, and really doesn't illustrate what an NFT or cryptocurrency is; it illustrates the problem they are trying to solve; which is illegal distribution of Intellectual and Artist Property, not quite relevant in terms of a meme, but on principle- do you own that Spider? No- no one does. I'm not defending NFTs- the time isn't right for them... but they will be around for a while, and considering the implications of our rate of technological progress, they may become quite relevant in the future. Considering not only images can be NFT's I'd say your probably the 3 billionth to make this take and still be wrong.
