Player…..vs…..Player Hmmm, sounds like a competition to me. If it was Player….meets….Player that might be considered casual. Or Player…..loves…..Player that’s more than casual. But alas, it’s not either of those.

  • You're either ignorant or being disingenuous. There is a well-established separation in pretty much all popular FPS games between competitive game modes and casual game modes. You can pretend that you don't know what that means, but that doesn't make it any less obvious.

Pretty sure for Halo that only applies to regular playlists and not social playlists. So for Destiny 2; Control would be considered the social playlist. Might be thinking about Infinite tho.

  • Maybe I'm misremembering and thought it was only applied to ranked playlists.

  • I'm pretty sure every playlist in the old Halos had SBMM & ranks, but I definitely didn't play the ones that would equate to glory playlists because you couldn't take guests in, & they were paywalled behind map packs.

I think there was some way of tracking skill but I dunno if it was factored into social playlists thought that might only be some social playlists and not all of them. Like how H3 had ranks and True Skill to determine your skill and match you based on that I believe in ranked games and playing ranked is how you increased your Rank or True skill can't remember which might be both. But with that system boosting became and issue which is quite similar to D2 where players either lower their KD or get someone with a lower KD to matchmake and for some reason it will match you with players of similar skill to the host.

  • Arguing semantics never works. Classic Halo was never competitive in the first place, neither was Super Smash Bros. Key thing here is, both of those games got competitive scenes. Competitive games usually have alot on the line. High stakes, the best of the best playing each other for a reward. Casual has low stakes, play for fun. Its a very simple concept to grasp, but maybe not for an SBMM supporter.

  • Yes, exactly. Thank you. I find it complete idiocy many of these players constantly calling any player vs. player mode casual. Sure if a player wants to play casually, go for it. Use whatever character class you want, whatever weaponry and build setup you feel like using. But to think your opposition is willing to NOT use any and every advantage against you to claim a win, is straight up idiotic. Control still affects kd/stats and there is a winning side and a losing side. If someone wants a casual game, set up a private match, with prearranged rules both sides agree to, send out invites, and have your funzies.

  • LMAO if you're creating matches with prearranged rules, that's not casual at all. Control was casual because there was no SBMM, there are no ranks, no rewards for winning, special rules to improve competitive integrity (disabling 3-peeking/ emotes in comp, punishing leavers), but they made it competitive.

  • Destiny isnt a competetive game in the first place, second i dont wanna sweat my Balls of just to play a little pvp, if i wanna play competetive i play counter strike or apex legends in the rankend playlist.... They desperately trying to make this game a competetive pvp game but its just not 😂 and it will never be Its just a casual game where players that suck in actually competetive games will Come and try to get good at and it, and tell their moms and dads to Look at their 1.5 kd that doesnt Even matter in this game either 😂😂😂😂 Nobody who is really good in pvp will take that game serious and that is why sbmm and quitting suspensions have no place in this game... Oh and no i dont have a 3 kd or higher because i dont give a -blam!- about my stats in this game... I just play it to have fun and enjoy my free time After work, if i wanna sweat i go to apex and play some diamond and Master Lobbys thats where its competetive and skillful not d2 😂😂😂

For who? Just the players who are mediocre, and who invest the least time in PvP? It was already fair and fun for a lot of people, the reality is that this decision was a utilitarian decision. They sacrificed the matchmaking times, connection quality, leaver rate, and casual enjoyment of all of the skilled players who have invested a lot of time in PvP in order to make these things better for low-medium-skill players. Before it was fun at the expense of bad players, now it's fun for bad players at the expense of good players. Only time will tell whether Bungie keeps it this way, but IMO it doesn't make sense to screw the people who actually play a lot of PvP over. My ranking/ percentile didn't change at all as a result of the changes, so I don't really care that much, but I hate that I have to sweat my balls of every match in order to prevent an absolute shutout. If control is suddenly a COMPETITIVE mode, good players in the top percentiles deserve COMPETITIVE rewards that only they get.

Trying to make matches based on skill is the ONLY fair way to do this for everyone. Is it perfect? Nope. But it's a drastic improvement over the status quo. You and the rest of the complainers are showing their entitlement complex this season, and it's not a good look. Because you put "time in" clubbing seals in Control you should be catered to and given differential treatment? Nope, not how things should work. The only mistake Bungie made was letting this go on for so long that you guys honestly feel you deserve such entitlement. My god just listen to you. Hate to sweat your balls off every match? You really don't see the hypocrisy and entitlement in this statement, do you? You want special rewards for....what? Using the "skill" you think so highly of against other guys of your same skill level? Bullcrap you entitled brat. Do you even hear yourself? I've played more PVP in my life this season than the previous year I've played Destiny. So I'm a perfect example that if you make it fair and fun, people WILL play and play more.

LMAO how is it hypocritical to not want to sweat like crazy every match you play in a causal game mode? How does it make sense to turn control into a competitive game mode, and to then not provide any rewards that you would expect of a competitive game mode? Every single FPS game that has competitive game modes has specific rewards for people who are in the top end of the skill spectrum, even if that's just unique banners. You're a fool if you think mediocre/ bad players aren't literally getting preference. They get faster matchmaking with better connection quality and far more freedom to play casually. Highly skilled players get laggy matches, long matchmaking time, and constant stacks and streamers to fight against. You're obviously not a representative sample because you're literally in the bottom 1% lol, I'm surprised that you don't have trouble finding matches. Either way, like I said, I don't care that much. I'm top 0.3% and I'm enjoying playing against highly skilled players, but it's literally just as sweaty as Trials of Osiris every single match, and if they're also going to add competitive playlist matchmaking and quitter penalties, then we should be able to see our ranks and show them off. We should get unique rewards like Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten that we used to. That way, bad players get to play other bad players and have their safe-zone, and good players who actually care about improving have something to show for how well they perform. On top of that, bad players who improve and become good players will be able to see how far they've gone. Stay salty about being bad though LMAO.

  • Competitive PVP in the FPS space generally implies some kind of rank structure or divisions, and some of rewards for climbing through those ranks. These games typically have a casual quickplay mode as well. Control has no ranking that anyone gets to see, and rewards are the same for everyone, win or lose, regardless of performance or difficulty of your opponents (this season it's Out of Bounds over and over). Calling Control "competitive" is a bad joke.

We all know why you guys are -blam!- up a storm now. And it sure as crap isn't the definition of "casual". Give it up. Nobody cares. You toxic elitists burned through any good will you might have had years ago on here with your constant condescension and trolling and bullying.

Just sick of you guys trying to use this dumb and dishonest "casual" loophole to revert back to the shitty status quo of stomping lobbies to your hearts content.
