Don't count losses anymore.
I know, I know that's a big statement but after reading a lot of opinions about the game and even having a long think about my own I believe it would be for the best. Hear me out as I try to explain.
Premise: Remove losses from the card so wins add 1 block each time, when you hit 7 you go to the lighthouse and get an adept.
Argument: "So why go flawless at all?"
That's the big question that seems to be the tipping point for most skilled players. If there's no incentive to improve why bother?
Well my answer to this is cosmetics and "flexing" potential. Sure going to the lighthouse whatever way would give the weekly adept, but you could have shaders, animated emblems with unique trackers, ships, sparrows, ghost, ornaments, glows. Any number of things that show the world how good you are without making it a painful experience for the other 99%.
Now I know a lot of top level players go to trials for the challenge and flooding it with lower skill ruins the mode for them.
Well how about a card where you only match other flawless players? So for example rather than a pool that activates based on lighthouse visits or day of the week you can buy a special card after your first flawless lighthouse each week.
This card puts you in a separate pool where you only match teams holding the same type of card. This way people who don't care about the loot can play competitive matches against other players looking for the same all weekend long if they wish too without affecting the general population.
Gen pop gets their adept loot, the better players get their glows and emblems, and the top 1% get their tournament level matches. Everybody wins, nobody loses, and the mode thrives for it.
You can change your playlist at will by picking up your "playlist card" and choose how you wanna play.
Even put the ultra rare emblems as drops for going flawless in the voluntary flawless pool. Really give multiple tiers of desirable in game content for all skill levels.
Terrible players might get 1 adept in 100 games. Good players 1 in 20. Great players 1 in 7 with a shader or emblem, and top players on their flawless playlist cards the rarest emblems and the most exclusive glows.

I find it ironic that this forum hates bungie for their wokeness but is always crying about inclusiveness
-
No. I'm getting tired of the word inclusive. Want to play Trials? Do it. You'll get better with practice like in all things. Quit wanting things hamstringed to fit your current wants/needs/abilities.
-
I'd rather they remove Trials altogether than watering it down to a "everyone is a winner" mentality.
-
No need, if it’s supposed to be the best, then all the not best players should stop playing trials, see how long before bungie pulls the plug. I’m guessing 3 weeks
-
You ask me, the game mode will slowly die out for a lot of reasons, lack of loot or reason to try The fact that if your carried your basically ain’t gonna go at it again since you could barely get flawless once so what your chances against the best of the game while you were the one being carried to it Peoples idea of pvp and endgame content and all that In reality I only wanted to go flawless for one reason the glow, the weapon and the rest not really anything I really wanted But after finding out it only lasted a week and I would probably get it only once, yeah big no from me to go into the game mode and try as hard as I can I don’t have a drive, I don’t have any motivation or reason, so if I am the last one standing I jump off the map, I ain’t good enough to go against 3 and I’m not really that good a player to be the hero I stay for the loss, but if I can’t do anything say a 3v1 or a 2v1 I just jump off the map, call me a coward or a anything but I just said, I ain’t a hero and I ain’t gonna win the match up or have a reason to fight And I already agreed and accepted I ain’t gonna go flawless, the never expect to win mindset that I agreed to limited my drive meaning I am never trying
-
When are people going to realize that not everything has to be dumbed down to the lowest person's level? It's endgame pvp. Take your losses and get out
-
As long as "flawless" is a thing....Trials will always have an unsolvable design problem. Because the odds of going 7 wins in a row without a loss----if you are facing equally skilled competition is 1 x 2^7 or 128-to-1. So the odds (unless you are being fed lesser players) of going flawless are SO low, that it becomes an inpractical pursuit. Which is why cheating would always wind up becoming such a problem as the playlist collapsed and the skill pool became heavily concentrated.
-
No top tier player wants the challenge of a flawless run. They want to go flawless and gatekeep everything that flawless provides from other players
-
I did have a small thought, just a small one Pvp and pve are so drastically different that in reality most comparisons between in the reply’s are null and void I played some gms and did a master vog challenge for a fatebringer, all the while, I was laughing with the people I played with and enjoying myself After doing it once we did it two more times right after We got used to it, we found a rhythm and repeated it When in trials it has different people means no way to use the same thing again and again, not really as easy as it can be to some, me for example I don’t think so fast and it that confident in what I do Loadouts, supers, gamemodes, maps, all random during the week While raid have one challenge you can do over and over and over, no needing to restart the entire raid, you can get the checkpoint and do the challenge Have fun doing that in trials
-
Better still, players can buy a trip to the light house and flawless chest for 50 glimmer.
-
This about sums up our trash, entitled society. Everyone deserves everything. 🙄 No. The hardest working, most skilled, and qualified player gets the the loot. There will always be the haves and have nots. Only you can change your situation and strive to achieve what you want. Bringing down or dumbing down every other part of gameplay “because it’s not fair” does nothing but lower the overall standards and diminishes the accomplishment.
-
I want GMs to become easier everytime i wipe its to haaaaaard i cant be asked to get good at it :(
-
No Plus losses doesn't really a problem anymore on someone of lower skills since its no longer reset your progress
-
Trials are for the best of Destiny PVP players. Let them have it
-
another give me loot with little to no effort and no attempt to improve post. everything isn't for all skill levels, people need to accept what their capabilities can do.
-
Several issues with Trials right now for me: 1. No permanent Freelance makes it extremely difficult for me to go Flawless (I don't have a fireteam who will join me). 2. Cross-play means console players always have the upper hand vs PC players. This area needs improvement. 3. Lack of dedicated servers means facing players with bad connection. I just played against a Warlock that floated into a wall and disappeared. 4. Cheating has decreased but you still get the occasional one shooting through walls, with bottomless heavy or perfect aim. 5. They removed three awesome Trials weapons (Shayura, Igneous and Messenger) and left us with only one interesting one this season, Eye of Sol. 6. To add insult to injury, they made Eye of Sol the reward on a weekend that wasn't Freelance. Huge mistake, in my opinion.
-
Adept weapons are basically already just a flex
-
It's called TRIALS, not BABY WALK IN THE PARK.
-
Change the title to "I also want to reach lighthouse but don't want to put the work into improving to the point that I can as is"
-
Lol hell no
-
They don’t want you to reap the rewards but they want you to populate the mode so they can have relaxed matches
-
Honestly, this is terrible and does nothing to solve any ACTUAL problems caused by bungie. Not to mention you remove any competitiveness out of trials by doing this. So hard pass. Trials isn’t meant to cater to trash cans.
-
Entirely too sensible. Enjoy your down votes casual.
-
And then several weeks into this implementation, people will complain that the exclusive loot for the top players isn't inclusive to all players, and all players deserve the loot too. It's an endless cycle of "I'm not good enough to get the loot, so I should get it for free."
-
No. The playlist has been causalified enough. The #1 thing Trials needs is to be more rewarding. Matchmaking needs to be completely freaking random like it has twice. The 1st week of the revamp and the 1st week of this season and the numbers were record breaking 1. No Flawless Pool. 2. Freelance is available once a month. 3. You can still play as a solo or duo if you want. 4. Bungie needs to bring back all the guns they’ve taken out and they need to make a weapon of every F’ing archetype for rewards. Maybe each week could offer 2 different weapons and you choose which one when you go flawless or it gives both, idc. 5. Increased reputation and you get it for wins and losses. 6. Matches won have 50% chance to drop a random non adept weapon or armor, but matches lost have a 25% The lighthouse is available to everyone that can manage to go flawless. Do you think all the good players just jumped on and was already good? Absolutely not. I have 4500+ hours in PvP and that’s why I’m good. I put the effort in to getting better because I wanted to be good at Destiny, I wanted to be able to go flawless, and etc. You don’t see us PvP players asking For GM’s to be easier. I’d like a Silicon Neuroma, but I don’t feel like getting my light up and all that. So I don’t deserve one.
-
Tbh if they made the light level penalty a bit less drastic that would make it bearable, they can make an individual weapons/armor minimum instead of average at soft cap so ppl can't go in with revoker or some other op sunset and wipe the other team, then the sweats wouldnt have an advantage for being sweats with their light levels, ppl who aren't as heavily invested can still challenge them instead of being unable to touch anybody that's got +10 on their light level... I shouldn't have to grind a grandmaster or some raid to be slightly competitive in pvp... But that's partly my problem cause I can't get two other ppl to play with me very often anymore and certainly not five
