we all know that bungie plans on probably after their 3 year d2 plan... merging d1 with d2 basically. what i speculated is, the dreadnaught returning in the witch queen expansion, it would only make sense knowing that first statement. the taken king was the expansion that really introduced taken to us and since witch queen will presumably be themed on taken and not to mention savathun relative to the bosses of taken king why not bring this content back.
as per d1 merging as a whole with d2, I theorize that a year after lightfall comes and time for our next annual expansion arrives bungie could pull a 180 on us and instead of a traditional expansion they literally give us the storymode for d1 updated entirely for d2. is this a bad thing? I don't think so, it's a good way for people who weren't there for d1 to catch up on a lot of lore that may be lost to them, and it would give bungie an excuse to finally put all the missing exotics armor and weapons into destiny 2. this would be an "expansion" with a lot of guaranteed contents for both pvp and pve. while I like this Idea and think it would be a reasonable approach it could only work with d1 content as when returning d2 year 1 content to the game it should always be free to play especially since a good number of d2 players from year 1&2 like myself payed for all of that content already. with all this I believe that after the d1 story merges with d2 this would be the moment "Destiny 2" becomes "Destiny."
I would be interested in hearing what other people think might happen in the next several years of destiny or any opinions on my speculation. just please don't be rude.
