The Huntsman: Part 2 - Back in the Saddle
Sorry if it took so long to get this next part ready. I had a lot of work to do to wrap up my finals. I now have a rough schedule of when i'll be doing a new instalment of the Huntsman, which will be every two weeks. Sorry if this part is very long. There's a lot of story to cover in this part.
Pyrus slowly waked up in what appears to be a hospital bed, staring directly at an annoyingly bright ceiling light. He noticed that he was attached to a heart-rate monitor. "Ugh...my head...where am i? Am i in a hospital?" He said, groaning from his headache. He tried to reach for the plastic cup of water on the table, but his left arm caused the heart-rate monitor to crash down, grabbing the attention of a nurse and a mysterious figure. The nurse would come rushing in to put the heart-rate monitor back up. She would then leave the room, with the figure staying behind "About time you woke up...You've been out cold for an entire week." The enigmatic figure exclaimed, looking relieved that Pyrus is still alive. "An entire week?!" Pyrus said in complete shock. "All 168 hours stone cold." Upon closer inspection, He appeared like something straight out of a western movie! He donned an outfit consisting of a distinctive white cowboy hat, A heavily stitched white duster with a sheriff badge, A black vest with some gilded accents, white slacks and some snazzy black cowboy boots. He had a semi-muscular build and had a noticeable scar across his right eye. "A sheriff? You do look the part, i'll give you that...Who are you?" Pyrus said. "Sheriff Lee. I'm the one that saved your ass in that dust bowl. Whats your name?" "Well then, i guess i owe you one. Thanks for saving me. Im Pyrus." Pyrus thanked Lee with a smile of gratitude. Lee would sit down in one of the visitor chairs. He would place down a familiar looking metallic insignia on the desk table. The insignia had the appearance of what looked like a form of digitised skull. "A week ago, a courier hovertrain got hijacked and crashed in the middle of the Azrail Oasis. Sources from my associates in Offtopica say that it was carrying something really important. I found this in the wreckage, which may be from the attackers. What was in that train that was so important?" Lee questioned. Pyrus would immediately recognise the symbol, as it was the main symbol Zuriel and his soldiers back on the attack wore on their uniform!. Taking a deep breath, he would recount all of the events that happened in the train within 5 minutes. "So to put it simply, you were hired by a group of couriers to guard a holy-looking artifact when all of a sudden a guy with crystal abilities alongside his cult called 'The Proton Society' attacked the train, stole the artifact, left you for dead in the desert, then crashed the train?" Lee said, Recounting everything Pyrus said. "Yup. Train went boom." Pyrus joked. "Well, you have some luck being able to survive that!" "Well, luck is usually on my side for some weird reason." Pyrus chuckled. "Anyways, back to the topic at hand, This 'Proton Society' you're talking about? I believe they're kidnapping hundreds upon thousands of people all across the region." Lee insinuated, as he put down a colossal pile of 'missing' posters on the table, shocking Pyrus. Lee continued. "Ever since the Society made their base in Tierra Arida, More people were reported missing. Then the Society started expanding in other regions of Offopica, Then after that, more people were reported missing. Do you see a pattern here?" "They must be expanding their premises for some purpose, but..why are they kidnapping that many people?!" Pyrus shuddered, startled at how many are kidnapped. "Yes, that many. It is a startling statistic...I wish i could do something about it..." Hundreds of ideas rush through Pyrus' mind, As he loses himself in thought, being completely oblivious to his surroundings. Then, an idea comes to his mind. He pulls off the lead connecting him from the heart-rate monitor and gets out of the bed. "Woah, Woah, Woah! What do you think you're doing?! You took about a hundred crystal shots to the, well, The everywhere in your body. You need to rest!" Lee demanded, trying to push Pyrus back in his seat. "I'm a hired gun, Lee. I'm not one to quit my job. And i think i know what i must do now..I think its time someone brought down that cult and got that artifact back." Pyrus declared, with a heroic aura. "Well...its your funeral...But I'm coming with you! I've already lost enough people in my life, so don't die on me! Go get yourself ready, because we're leaving, pronto." Lee demanded. "Okay, Okay, Geez! Settle down! We only know each over for 10 minutes now! No need to get preachy." Pyrus said in embarrasement. Leaving the hospital, Pyrus takes a look at the small town he is in. It is completely deserted, with not a soul in sight. "Wow...its so...barren here." Pyrus lamented. "This town used to be full of people...Until the Society came...Go and grab some stuff over at the weapons store, We're gonna hit the Society's main lab soon." Lee ordered. "Isn't that illegal?" Pyrus asked. "I'm the sheriff of this town, and I'll allow an exception for you only this once." Lee said. "Alright. Thanks Lee. Really appreciate it!" Pyrus said in gratitude. 20 minutes later... Pyrus emerges out of the store with a new set of armor to replace his previous set. It appears as a more traditional form of bounty hunter armor, with a very basic, no-frills appearance. To avoid it from getting too boring, Pyrus applied a black and red colour scheme to the armor, giving it more character. Pyrus sees in front of him Lee, alongside another strange looking person beside a heavily modified camper van. "Ah, Pyrus! I would like you to meet Bopsheezi. You can just call him Bop. He will be accompanying us for the quest." Lee said, introducing Bopsheezi to Pyrus. Bopsheezi appeared as a Neko. He had distinctive tabby cat ears and a tail with short, brown hair. He wore knight-like armor, although there is a few tribal-like markings on his armor and face. "So you're Pyrus, right? I heard you were left for dead in the desert. How did you even survive that?!" Bopsheezi asked. "I really don't know. Probably luck?" Pyrus guessed. "Well, We'll talk about it in the van, so lets go! This beast of a camper van will get us to our location in no time!" Bop boasted. "Well, whatever you say." Pyrus said. Pyrus, Lee and Bopsheezi enters the van and departs to their destination. And thus, The Posse begins their journey across the arid wilds to bring down this powerful foe... End of Part 2
Hope you enjoyed it!
