If you tone down the strongest exotics as you plan to, allowing players to equip more than one exotic would do the following:
- remove the concept of a default choice exotic. Underutilized exotics would probably actually get used.
- make the player feel powerful.
- enable builds based on play style rather than damage output or super generation.
Thoughts?

bungie put this person inchage of destiny 2's development

I thought the point was to have exotics not get nerfed.

I can see equipping 2 exotic armor pieces more of a reality than two exotic weapons. Once they nerf orb generation exotics it would be nice to be able to equip an exotic for your super and one for your neutral game.
tempest crown and getaway artist...cough...cough
I think having two exotic weapons might be more problematic.

I could see one of 2 things happening. A separate mode something like prison of elders where you can equip more than one exotic armors at a time. I myself would like something where you can equip a total of 2 exotic pieces at a time. It would work like this. 2 exotic pieces of armor but 0 exotic weapons or 2 exotic weapons and 0 exotic armor or just a player can choose to use what we have now and have 1 exotic armor and 1 weapon. It would be up to the players to experiment. I would love it if bungie did this. Maybe for the summer solstice event.

That would be awesome.

Personally, and I’ve been saying this for a while, they should change the exotic cap to be two overall. Ie: you can equip two exotic armors but therefore no exotic weapon and vice versa. I think it would add some new depth to some build options while still being balanced.

This game never had builds and never will

Negative. Everytime we get something powerful people complain and than bungie has to tear the whole game down because of it. We asked for powerful stuff and than complained so expect to be limited and micromanaged now because thats what true balance is when compared to power fantasy which throws balance out the window.
