Bungie. When will the abuse stop?

Many of you may have heard of the recent weapon balancing announcement. It is also probably true that many of you cried tears of joy to hear that Thorn was getting nerfed and that shot package won't have the power of a freaking death star anymore. It is also VERY possible that while you were crying these tears of joy, you overlooked a portion of the update that is saddening and quite frankly, insulting to the Destiny community. The nerf of blackhammer, icebreaker and Ghorn is an absolute junk punch to the players of Destiny, particularly those who love PVE. Let me explain. Nerfing thorn and shotguns and tweaking blink are VERY necessary changes as highlighted by the amount of discussion throughout the community and data showing that they are simply just warping the PVP meta. So Bungie, THANK YOU FOR NERFING THESE GUNS. However, I don't think I have ever seen one player PLEAD that his blackhammer become a sucky sniper with an extremely small magazine size, small amounts of reserve ammo and a perk that doesn't reward skill to combat those downsides. Nor have I ever seen one icebreaker owner say PLEASE BUNGIE THIS GUN IS TO OP! Yet these nerf are happening as a result of what BUNGIE wants and not what we as players want. On one hand (the pvp thorn situation) Bungie listens and responds, on the other hand Bungie says, "screw you guys for not playing the game exactly how we want you to play it." What is even more alarming to me is the reasoning that Bungie uses to justify these decisions. On the thorn side of the equation Bungie has data and about 100000000 Guardians all spamming youtube, reddit, forums and other media complaining about how thorn breaks the game and how Fellwinters is a little shit bag in and of itself. THIS IS a justifiable reason to make changes to a weapon. However, Bungie does not adequately justify the nerf of our PVE beloved weapons. Let's take a quote from their update. "We’ve all done it. Hunker down in the back of the map with your lunch box, picnic table, a sci-fi paperback, and Ice Breaker. Kill all the enemies, wait for more to show up, kill those ones too, put a few shots on the boss, make a sandwich, finish the strike, and then collect your reward-that-isn’t-Hawkmoon and move on." Earth to Bungie. This is how snipers intend to play the game. Wait for the perfect shot, be methodical and patient and then fire. Just because that's the style we like to play does not mean that you should change that. Let the crazy fools with shotguns and ghorns run around guns a blazing because that's what they like to do, and let the snipers sip on some team and take brains because that's what they like to do. This weapon nerf is not all I want to talk about and I don't want to go into to much more detail about how dumb it is and will be. I want to highlight how the announcement of this weapon tuning is just another link in a chain of behaviors by Bungie that have been insulting to us as a loyal fan base. I don't even know where to start. How about we start with Ass Hat and the taken king. I'm sure you all know who I am referring to when I say Ass Hat. He's been labeled as such within our community, why? Because he literally thinks that he can show up to work, take a dump in a bag and call it Destiny's next great expansion and we will all pull out our wallets and pay for it. Part of this is our fault as compulsive gamers, but really Bungie? REALLY?!?!?! Then as an apology letter to the community, they respond by doing almost nothing and then insulting us by giving us the option to get a new emblem. OOOOOOO and emblem? One that if you haven't been playing the game for a long time will require a HUGE amount of time. Thanks but no thanks. To top it all off, this week Xur shows up with the biggest piece of crap inventory I have ever seen. After much anticipation, Bungie sadly says, "oops it's not safe to fix Xur at this time." SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! I would not be surprised if whoever is in charge of Xur just had some unclaimed PTO and didn't show up to work that day. BUT YOU ALL ARE GAME DEVELOPERS. Xur is literally a bunch of code sitting in some server. Open the code, type GJALLAHORN into the string of code, hit enter and go home to enjoy the rest of the weekend while the community that you should love (but clearly don't) rejoices! On the note of Ghorn, their reasoning for the nerf is that players select fireteams based on if you have a ghorn or not. PLEASE comment if you have beaten Atheon, Crota, the crappy story missions, POE etc, without a g horn. I know I have. It took me eons to get one. That being said, all I have is one more question for the Destiny community. Have you got your red bull yet? Ha! What a joke. Bungie, the corporate monster that cares only about it's pocket.

  • I think even with the boss fight variation with TTK the battles are still about damage and mobs. Needing PVE weapons was a terrible idea. Ghally is is probably the only OP weapon in Pve...but even ghally doesn't Insta win most loss fights. Anyone who has completed a 34 or 35 PoE will tell you those yellow fallen majors and servitor a laugh off ghally shots. The answer would have been a quiet buff on the enemies. Ice breaker is even worse. Ice breaker like Suros is an entry level exotic that helps newer/less experienced guardians complete endgame activities. All the tuning does is make a grindy game a little grindier for those players. Bad bad bad Bungie. I agree with the Pvp tuning. Buffing ARs will help newer crucible players.
