precision throwing knife
Is it just me or should precision throwing knife be a one shot in PvP or no?
EDIT: the throwing knife is only a "one shot" if you take out half their shield
EDIT: keep in mind that normal melees one shot to the head and the special melee for gunslinger which is their throwing knife can't one shot to the head

Edited by Probalt: 10/12/2014 7:20:07 AMI think it's just fine. I love the throwing knife as it is. Making it a one shot kill will make the game unbalanced. The way I use it is to take a shot from my hand cannon then throw it. Works fine for me.

Edited by Sumpskildpadde: 10/12/2014 7:15:21 AMThe problem with this skill is that YOU NEVER HIT ANYONE WITH IT!! It they tak a slight step to the side as you throw it, then it misses. All oher melee skills are guaranteed hits because, well you have to be right in front of the enemy. But the Throwing knife REALLY takes skill to use. Therefore, I think it should be a one hit kill to the head no matter what. Jesus christ the TItan has a one hit melee kill. He can sprint up to someone and kill him, even with full shield. The Warlock can get a god damn shield after a melee which means they can melee you a gain straight after and then kill you (basically a guaranteed melee kill). The throwing knife is way under powered, because you never hit anything with it, and when you do the enemy doesn't even die. It should either be a one hit kill or they should make "seek out" the target a bit. Not a lot. Just a little bit, so it is much easier to hit with.

3 RepliesHow would a one hit throwing knife be fair to the classes without one? This game has bad balance as is, I couldn't fathom how bad it'd be when all hunters (gunslingers) could go throwing around one hitters. Not to mention if you opt in for the second throwing knife.

Still not good enough. In regular crucible the Painted Big Chief does 95 damage per headshot killing enemies from full health with 2 headshots for a total of 190 damage. A precision throwing knife hit for 158 damage, however, the incendiary blade perk does an additional 6 ticks of 7 damage for a total of 42 damage. Altogether this does 200 damage, yet this is not enough to kill someone at full health. This means Bungie is horrid at math. Gunslinger is a class that requires you to basically "try hard" yet the payoff is just not worth it. Especially when you have the option to go to Blade Dancer where everything is easy peasy.

4 RepliesShort answer, no. Long answer, if you make it a one shot kill from any distance, all special melees should be a one shot kill. But the time to kill in destiny/bungie games is a lot different than a run and gun arcade shooter like Call of Duty. I feel like being able to run in and melee people would disrupt the pacing of multiplayer and with the current network latency would just make it not fun. However, I am open to the idea that it gets a distance bonus to damage that could make it a potential one shot kill. The farther you throw it, the more extra damage it got. But this would have to be balanced, and the knife would probably have to do less damage in a short throw than it does now at all distances. Tl;dr being a one shot kill at all ranges is op, but maybe give it a damage modifier according to distance thrown.

10 RepliesNo cause currently all you have to do is tap a person once then toss knife and dead. If you really need that one shot kill on your redic low CD knife toss I say go back to cod cause the accuracy of that redic low knife toss is next level BS.

1 ReplyPeople think it's one shot but it's not. With the burn damage it's really close. A couple bullets to the shield and a precision knife will get em. Like 3 bullets, but the transition from shooting to knife takes time so that sucks. If you knife first though its pretty nasty.

Yes. It is much much harder to hit in PvP, especially a head shot. Plus you get the throw everything at them and pray, which is always funny!
