Please Bungie. Please. I beg you. Do NOT allow any kind of microtransactions in the game. Please. The game should be made with care for the community not how much you can rake out of their pocket. Microtransactions have always ruined games. They screw up the economy of the game to an extent that I can't even begin to explain. Whose with me?
And please reply to this thread so that the community can have attention brought to the matter for those of us who feel this way about microtransactions.
Update: These are the views that I have seen from people so far-
-
Aesthetic Changing Micro-transactions: Okay
Gameplay Changing Micro-transactions: Bad
-They can be used to unlock higher level items that can still be attained with in game currency but using microtransactions will reduce the amount of time needed to unlock them
-Using them could reduce the price of the game/take away a subscription fee
-The transactions could kill the economy if used improperly
- They could make players that do not use them feel less important/ unique in their own way, which is a big thing that Bungie has said that they care about.
-Many people do not think that Bungie will do this to us, as they see the bad things about microtransactions
-What is the point of having them if you can just make everything feel much more rewarding by just making it all in game or come out with the DLC?
Well that's all I got from this so far. More updates to come if the thread does not die.

1 ReplyPlease no micro-transactions!! In every game that has them you see some stupid kid that used his mommy card to buy all the good upgrades. I wouldn't really mind if they were only aesthetic but game changing upgrades are a no-no for any game except for apps.
-
~Only microtransactions, If it is necessary, for cosmetic purposes. Otherwise, yeh it will ruin the game. Play with skill /with your own powers and have fun, this is the only way to truly enjoy the game, in my opinion anyway~
-
If they do micro transactions, I hope that it is purely cosmetic
-
I feel like we will get stuck with microtransaction, Activision's got to get that money.

When i originally opened this thread i agreed with you totally. Yet after reading through the comments from the Veteran Bungie Community Members, my opinion has swayed. A Pay to win ethic can definitely bugger off. If bungie implement unique but not overpowered items i can see it working. Such as a bullpup frame for a sniper rifle (then you could modify your sniper to look cool. Or coloured tracer rounds/ muzzle flash. Things that look bad ass, but are hypothetically aesthetic. I read somewhere in the comments about paying for a more advanced paint palette, which is an awesome idea. All of these things could be obtained in the game itself, but players could pay for fast track 'micro transaction'. Think Battlefield bad complany 2 - you could pay for a fast tracked assault class and end up with an m16, or you could play and earn it. It didnt affect gameplay, no one was overpowered, it was all balanced. My peeve is day one dlc. Forza horizon was a terrible culprit for this. One of the cars shown in a loading screen wasn't available until the fourth dlc pack Meaning the car model was ready and available but they decided to milk it for all it was worth. It went unnoticed by most, but it's ridiculous. The dlc has to be worth the money.

Hats are so tf2 Capes capes capes!
-
But I like spending money to be better unfairly... Not unfairly, I paid for it!
-
I reckon they will need micro transactions or this game wont be viable long term as you have server costs maintence costs etc you have to have something to bring in money thats why alot of MMO's had subs so they could do this. I would only like to see cosmetic stuff and maybe some mini pets of sorts in the store maybe an extension to character slots etc and extensions to paint pallets or something, maybe gender change, race change and changes like that.

1 ReplyMicro transactions can be bad for a game if they: -Discriminate non-paying players (Blocked areas, blocked functions, blocked clans/guilds creations) -Give better weapons/armor/equipment that you can't get in-game with hard work (Pay to win) -Don't allow a minimum of character customization (Like War Frame game... U have to buy some extra paint palettes but u can customize your character to some extend... this is good... :) ) If micro transactions are going to be used (And i'm pretty sure they will) the stuff sold with them should be primarily aesthetic and premium secondary items... (Like in mmo's pets and stuff like that). Now... if I understand a bit about the game... its a shooter with some MMOs social capabilities... like fighting/exploring along side your friends and meet people you haven't met before... If this is true then DLC you have to pay won't do that much good... cause if you don't have the money at the moment... you can't keep enjoying with your pals online... nor meeting new people... and having trouble even with events on those places... I guess that's the same reason why MMOs make everyone have the same content on their pcs... sync for the best possible experience... And of course... if the game is going to be that huge.... would be sad not being able to fully enjoy the exploration part of the game to its fullest... What do you guys think?

1 ReplyAnyone play Runescape lately? They have totally neglected free-to-play players. Everything even remotely interesting is for "Premium" members only.

-
Is it really Bungie's decision as to whether there would be micro-transactions in the game? Isn't that up to the publisher?
-
This topic's quite simple: anyone who thinks that gameplay altering microtransactions are a good idea really isn't qualified enough to be in this conversation.
-
I Really don't mind Actual "micro" transactions in a game, as in one, two or three dollar transactions as long as they're only cosmetic and contribute to customization.
-
1 ReplyIf you want a special item, earn it. Buying it only takes away the sentimental value and deprives you of the journey to acquiring that item.
-
Bungie... if you love me like you promised... at most you'll do is put out DLC... thats something that is tollerable. Love you Bungie! <3 (no homo)
-
Micro-transaction aren't such a bad thing as long as they do not effect game play... aesthetics for armor and skins for guns to give you a unique look that is apart from many others... maybe ship painting or decorations for any living quarters they will give up... it could be a way to stand out so to speak...
-
The only way I would be okay with it, is if the game wasn't engineered to take your money. While Dragon's Lair is one of the best games ever made, it was designed to eat your quarters.
-
Microtransactions did not bother me in ME3, nor will they bother me here. They are necessary for server upkeep and maintenance. I would much rather have a game with microtransactions than one with a monthly subscription fee.
-
Aesthetic Changing Micro-transactions: Okay Gameplay Changing Micro-transactions: Bad
This.

1 ReplyIn game currency is as far as things should go in a game like this (Not counting DLC).
-
5 RepliesThe only way they should be implemented, if at all, is for items that do not effect gameplay at all. No premium items. No fast track items. You guys here what the EVE Online players did when CCP introduced microtransactions for aesthetics?
-
How can I vote when both options are biased?
-
27 RepliesAs long as your are buying something worth while then I am all for it. I want some great weapons ... and something that lives up to it description, and going to be an edge over the default in-game weapons. If they offer something of real value it should work, people would be willing to spend up big if if the weapon/armor works. Plus look at it this way ... if you come into the game late and have to spend time optioning up your character, why should you be able to play catch-up by purchasing some nice kit. If you are truly hopeless they are not going to make that much difference anyway - whats the problem?
-
I wouldn't be able to get Destiny if I have to deal with microtransactions. This would deeply hurt me, I've been a Bungie follower since I was like five.
-
If they are only cosmetic and the coolest looking things in the game aren't all buyable (maybe 50% of them) or the microtransactions are only colours/skins, I will be totally okay with them. But when someone who spends more money can get everything faster than someone who doesn't this would be very frustrating and the whole "your gear represents your story" would be worthless.
