The only way they should be implemented, if at all, is for items that do not effect gameplay at all. No premium items. No fast track items.
You guys here what the EVE Online players did when CCP introduced microtransactions for aesthetics?

I did not hear actually so what did they do?

The server node did crashed several times... I was hiding in null at the time... but a couple of friends we're not able to enter the system... and had a lot of logging issues when inside the system... The reasons for the movement were not really cause aesthetic items.... (which are still in use inside the game) but the really unfair and senseless money exchange rate between in game currency (ISK) and "tobuyaestheticstuff" currency (Aurum)... as pretty much u could buy one and a half supper mom (Very big and expensive carrier only able to fly in certain parts of space) with what a t-shirt costs.... which is kinda stupid.... Another reason was a leak from CCP HQ in which they were brainstorming greedy ideas to make EVE kinda Pay-to-Win... and of course as there's many people playing and training skills since 2003 when the game was launched... that was quite shocking... and I believe that's the main point for the protests..... after that CCP HQ apologized to the community and a new expansion more driven to the nature of the game was released...

Basically, most EVE players all converged on Jita (the biggest market system by far) and started shooting a monument there. The server node almost crashed several times if I remember correctly, as CCP weren't ready for it. They listened.

Good for that community... well at least we know that we can start a rebellion to Activision if we have to haha. But I realllyyyyyyy hope that will never happen. If it comes to the day that Bungie is that bad or corrupt than I might just die

CCP is probably my favourite developer at the moment. Every so many years they build a CSM (Council of Stellar Management, if I remember correctly) in which EVE and now Dust players vote several of their peers into a council to discuss the game with CCP. CCP take community opinions VERY seriously and as a result they're building one of the best game franchises I've ever seen.
