Aesthetic Changing Micro-transactions: Okay
Gameplay Changing Micro-transactions: Bad
This is what I would prefer to see but haven't gameplay impacting microtransactions worked before (League of Legends)?

You can buy a character with RP (purchased currency) or you can buy a character with IP (in-game currency). The things that are ONLY purchased through RP are only cosmetic. Every week though there's a rotation as to what champions are given for free for that period and then taken away so you can play the others. Also, even if someone buys a character, every single character has a counter so that no one character is unstoppable. Extra Credits did a segment on this a few months ago.

That's exactly how I thought LoL worked. And it doesn't seem to be too bad.

The only thing bad about League of Legends is the community.

I've never played LoL but I can tell you they've failed a whole lot more spectacularly than they've succeeded. EVE Online has a transaction system where you can bring ISK (ingame currency) into the game by paying, but it's through selling an item that when used can give players game time, so in a sense it kind of works. Note that every item in the EVE universe is player made though, so this type of system wouldn't work in Destiny.

What are you talking about? League of Legends is THE most online played game. The only thing that harms the game is its fan base who aren't inviting to new players and always expect you to play at your 110% ability.

When did I say anything about LoL not being that... I find that hard to believe, to be honest, with SC2, WoW etc out there.

If they failed as much as you claim, they wouldn't be as successful as they are now. I've been playing for over a year and I can honestly say the community is about 98% complete dicks in-game. It's to the point I have mute people when I first start a match.

I've never played league of legends, could you explain.
