He almost killed the monster, but she still rejected him and he died tragically and alone. The true hero of an amazing story of betrayal.

He tried to blackmail Belle by imprisoning his father, and wanted to murder the Beast not because the Beast posed an actual threat, but because Belle had a thing for him (implying he would’ve killed a normal dude for the same reason).
If that’s your idea of a hero, I think you might have some issues you need to work out.
He wanted to kill Beast because of how he looked, forced himself into Belles life after she stated MULTIPLE times that she was not interested, yet he kept pushing and pushing until he threatened to kill the beast unless she married him, told her he wanted her to have his kids, threw her father into an insane asylum, and tried to kill Beast after he was shown mercy.
