How much more based can you get than telling a woman in pre-revolution France that she shouldn’t read her book (likely protomarxist literature or p ro n) because it’ll get ideas in her head?
sounds pretty cringe pilled and not based imo. if it was a quality lady (or lad, if you swing that way) then they should be able to read Marx and (intellectually) piss on his stupid ideas
You see, that’s what you would think thanks to the Enlightenment. However, most people, and Belle is a prime example of this, are NPCs. Incapable of making actual decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I love the NPCs. But, they need good leadership. Gaston was clearly willing to provide this. He shows us that he favors the family unit by telling Belle that he would give her seven sons and that he would provide for them with fresh meat. But Belle, being an NPC and buying into the protomarxist literature, desires “something more than this provincial life.” Thus, Gaston departs on his journey to save Belle from herself, which tragically ends in his death in his attempting to do so.
