Imagine that you are a pirate who keeps going to the same place to loot the same treasure over and over again and never progress towards the big score.. this wewkly lockout thing in the seasonal story is kinda bad...
Bungie's storytelling is on fire but how it is delivered to players is very poor…

16 RepliesI like it. Same as releasing new episodes on your favorite show. Experience the same show as everyone else on a weekly cadence, have time to digest it, chat with others about it and see what happens next. When an entire season just drops as once, you can binge it but walk on eggshells and hope that no one spoils it for you.
-
Nope I honestly hate it. I wish I could just run the whole thing in one go if I really wanted to. That way I can spend the rest of the season just grinding for weapons to craft or finishing quest to increase my seasonal ranks to 100.
-
Not gonna lie, the sudden random Pirate theme this Season hasn't gotten my attention at all. Have barely touched D2 this whole week, don't even know if I've reached the weekly waiting game with the quest.
-
1 ReplyForget story content, I want GMs to be released the same week or at least a week after trials releases. It would be nice to have a few extra weeks to grind out nightfalls to earn adept loot, and especially to have at least enough time for the original loot drop cycle to begin again.
-
Lockout is only bad for sweats who play all day everyday, normal humans dont worry about it because once we finish the weekly story we still have our pinnacles to keep us busy to reset
-
No but its there to make the content more engaging and last longer so you don't speed through the story in the first week. Because it used to be one and done and people would complain about how there's nothing to do after they speed run through the story for that season and had to sit through 3 months of nothing but repeat core activities.
-
I think they should just release the entire campaign on day 1 & offer a legendary difficulty campaign.
-
13 RepliesSo it would probably take you a combined 2-3 hours to do all the story of each season if you went in totally blind. It takes Bungie MONTHS to develop, polish, and verify content for each season. Please respect the amount of development that goes into the game. If you don't want to wait, don't play. There's plenty to do, and if you've done EVERYTHING since the season launched 5 days ago, then you should probably put the game down until next Tuesday. Remember: THIS IS NO SHAME IN DOING SOMETHING OTHER THAN DESTINY.

9 RepliesSo you can try to run through the story as fast as possible and complain then that you have nothing left to do?

I dislike feeling obligated to finish all of them the week they come out, regardless of my available time. Otherwise they pile up at the end of season and I risk not finishing at at all, which is mostly what has happened in the past. It is especially annoying with 'speciality' pvp modes that only come out twice a season. If I don't finish those the week they come out, then I only have one more chance to finish them or I'm screwed. I would love it if the next two weeks of content and their associated triumphs were available any given week to complete. Then we could work 'ahead' when we had the extra time.

3 RepliesIt sure does seem like it is taking an AWFULLY long time to analyze that artifact. I’m about to go in and analyze it myself!

Don't you have to wait a week to see the next episode of a tv series ?, except for Netflix, where you binge the whole series then you have nothing left to look forward to The only thing I don't like is the timegating of upgrading your atlas , I so desperately want to focus the weapons but I am forced to grind expedition and ketchcrash till next week -
Honestly, It’s ok. It keeps me from blowing through content and gives me something to look forward to story wise next week. I wish the seasonal activity was more rewarding (it seems like all I ever get is armor…), but the quest kinda helps remedy that by giving a few extra drops. I would’ve blown through the entire seasonal story this past week if it wasn’t there. I could take it or leave it, but I don’t really see any good arguments here for why we need to or what we would replace it with engagement-wise.
-
This season is by far the worst that has ever been released to date. No pinnacle for the weekly mission and it takes too long just to get a weapon because the first activity gives you absolutely nothing what so ever.
-
You must’ve not been around when they did this in d1. As soon as a dlc dropped, people finished it in less than a week. I’m talking the raid, all new exotic quests, hidden missions, every new weapon obtained. The only thing to wait for was hrd mode, which also got crushed in the same day of release. I enjoy the drip feed content. I don’t need to dedicate so much time when new stuff comes out & My friends can’t spoil it for me either
-
Don’t like it. Don’t really dislike it either. As long as there aren’t multiple weeks in between I couldn’t really care less.

Edited by One Shot Ted: 8/29/2022 3:18:07 PMI don't like the weekly lockout, but I recognize that it's the only thing preventing players from doing everything in a couple of days and then -blam!-ing about the "dead season" for several months.
-
It doesn’t bother me so much. What really annoys me is the timegated upgrade table
-
I really like the paced story.
-
In an ideal world, if Bungie could just magically make anything we imagine, we wouldn't have a system like this. In reality, it takes time to make content, and with their current model and everything they definitely couldn't support an entire season if it dropped all at once. A lot of people would be done within the first two days and then there wouldn't be a reason to keep playing. I'd love to have more stuff to do but it takes a ton of work to build that stuff.
-
I like it. I can’t really explain why, but I do.
-
Enjoy? No. But I can understand why they must do it. Imagine beating the whole seasonal story mission in three days( if casual) then you must wait like four months for more content.
-
Edited by DragonKnight901: 8/28/2022 9:23:07 PMThere is really no winning to be honest on one hand you got weekly story lock outs but on the other hand if was released all at once it will last what 7-8 hours at max with nothing else to do for 3 months.
-
its kinda ended if it wasn't folks would blow though it in a few days get bored and then come here to complain theres nothing to do
-
Has to be this way ….other wise people would smash through it in a week then complain not long enough. I saw someone at 123 on their season pass. Sad!

Gives you time to catch your bearings.
