Why bother, just run the game like normal and just watch the exotics drop. I got three today just playing the game, no strikes, no nightfall or lost sectors. The best way to farm exotics are the Altars of sorrow for sure. Hope you are lucky to get a decent team of players at your side though. Got a catalyst, 2 exotic weapons and a Titan armor piece that i did not have earlier, including a Master worked blasphemer. Took maybe 3-4 hrs tops! I tried the lost sectors and the time to get exotics to drop vs actual playtime. It's not worth it. it's not just RNG, it's a question how much damage you dish out also. Tried low stat weapons, took forever, used Sturm and Sleeper Simulant, and got the drops right away!
