A word to new players.

To new players - I have been playing the game for about 1 week, so I am a new player myself. However I have chosen to uninstall the game. So, I felt it was important to mention this, as I would have greatly appreciated this message 1 week ago. First issue - The only way to 'contact' Bungie is through this forum style communique. That is correct, privacy has apparently gone out of style. I'll remind you. Path of Exile, Warframe, Eve Online, WoW, and many other popular games have private means to send messages to customer service. It is wildly unprofessional. Second issue - Gun 'skins' in the game are not universal. Therefore you can only apply certain skins to certain guns. Armor skins are somewhat universal but their customizability is limited to 'shaders'. Which are limited and set. You can not edit specific parts of the shaders, they are set in stone. They are also consumable, meaning they cost in game materials to apply them to items. Although the cost is rather trivial, but why does this cost even exist? I payed for them, why do I have to keep paying for them. They feel like a loan, rather than a purchase. Armor skins only fit their specific class. So a 'Hunter' set can only apply to hunters. This was not a significant issue for myself, but I thought I would mention it because I assumed they could apply to every class. Third issue - The game itself does not hold your hand. You will need to google many many things. There were many occasions where I could not find an answer on any site about what exactly I had to do. I was eventually forced to ask random players in game completely off-mission questions. Perhaps this is my problem, I can admit that, but I thought I would mention this as well. Just as a heads up. Prepare to be googling and youtubing. Fourth issue - Shadow Keep, I could go on for a while about how bad shadow keep is, but I don't need too. You can look yourself at the steam reviews. Fifth issue - Character customization is very limited. There are very few options to chose from. Also, anything you do to your character is permanent. You can not change anything about them, not even their hair. Not exactly a big deal unless you are a perfectionist like myself. Then it is a big deal. There is also no way to see the other weapons in your character screen. If say you want to see a specific shader for both your character and your secondary in the character screen, well you can't. It is also really strange that you cant delete shaders more easily. The game has been for a while now and nothing of significance has been added. That was particularly disappointing for me. I intentionally arrive at games late, so I expect a smooth experience and a massive degree of content. Sixth issue - Connection problems to many of the areas in the game are very serious and rather ubiquitous as far as I can tell. The crucible for example is terrible and causes me to completely avoid it. Seventh issue - You have basically no voice in the game. Your actual character never speaks at all. Its just bizarre. #8 - The random nature of engrams. You have no idea what these pink/gold blobs are going to be. It feels empty, and so often you get duplicates. I suppose this might just be me, but it really sucks to find a pink one only for it to be a duplicate. Which feels so strange for someone to have only been in the game for a week. Are there really this few weapons/armors, etc? #9 - This one is certainly personal, but it is a huge issue for me. The story. I have done a lot of the missions in game and the story is so boring and basic. I could have produced a better script. In fact, anyone could. #10 - I never played the first Destiny but I feel like their should be more classes than just 3. These classes are very cookie cutter. A witch, a solider, and a ranger basically. Story old as time. Although I didn't play the first game, if you did I do know that nothing from the first one transfers to this one. This feels a little off for me. Especially if you spent money on cosmetics. Path of Exile is about to release their sequel and everything from the first game transfers to the new one. #11 - The PVP in this game is unbearable for myself. I don't know how to phrase it proper its so frustrating. Although that might be a myopic statement because its not clear to me that any game gets PVP perfect. #12 - My final issue is the 'mentors' on the forum here. What power do they actually have? Who knows. While they seem helpful, if you have a serious issue, can they actually address it? I get the vibe that they are a buffer. In the same way that the Warframe devs 'screen' their player feedback. Am I missing something here? Who pays for all this stuff, the players do. More important the players give you the most valuable resource they own. Time. And for this resource we get buffers and screeners, and mentors. Its freaking pathetic. In closing. This was specific to new players. I trust that veterans might not understand, but these are just some things I wish I had known before I spent $100 of gun 'skins' that can't fit to anything I actually own. LOL. So perhaps I am an idiot for not reading the bold print. I just assumed they were universal. (JK) However, ultimately for me it came down to 3 major issues. The 'forum' style communication, with no real way to contact them. That alone feels insidious. The lack of customization, can't change your character after you make them, no universal weapon skins, limited number for ships/speeder you can hold. And the story, it sucks. Yet, to be honest seeing the first issue would have caused me to not install the game from the start. Oh well. Thanks, hope this helps.

So, I felt it was important to mention this, as I would have greatly appreciated this message 1 week ago. you should keep playing. It gets better. First issue - The only way to 'contact' Bungie is through this forum style communique. That is correct, privacy has apparently gone out of style. I'll remind you. Path of Exile, Warframe, Eve Online, WoW, and many other popular games have private means to send messages to customer service. It is wildly unprofessional. you can send ban appeals, but otherwise, there is no need to ever contact bungie Second issue - Gun 'skins' in the game are not universal. Armor skins only fit their specific class. So a 'Hunter' set can only apply to hunters. This was not a significant issue for myself, but I thought I would mention it because I assumed they could apply to every class. first, gun skins are ornaments for that gun. Shaders are EXTREMELY cheap to pull from collections. And armor ornaments are supposed to match only one class, because every class has different styles. Prepare to be googling and youtubing. do you WANT the game to hold your hand? No! There’s a challenge and mystery aspect to destiny, something you may not understand from playing all the overwatch clones out there. Fourth issue - Shadow Keep, I could go on for a while about how bad shadow keep is, but I don't need too. You can look yourself at the steam reviews. shadowkeep wasn’t as bad as some people say. It wasn’t the best, and it could have had more, but it wasn’t awful. I intentionally arrive at games late, so I expect a smooth experience and a massive degree of content. keep your helmet on. And you just keep pointing out QoL stuff that doesn’t matter at all!!! Sixth issue - Connection problems to many of the areas in the game are very serious and rather ubiquitous as far as I can tell. The crucible for example is terrible and causes me to completely avoid it. this happens occasionally, but not frequently enough to be a reason to stop playing. Seventh issue - You have basically no voice in the game. Your actual character never speaks at all. Its just bizarre. THIS IS INTENTIONAL!!! Oh my gosh... ok. You’re supposed to be your character. And THIS IS NOT AN RPG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are there really this few weapons/armors, etc? the loot pool has gotten smaller so you have a better chance of getting the exact weapon you want, with the perks you want. #9 - This one is certainly personal, but it is a huge issue for me. The story. I have done a lot of the missions in game and the story is so boring and basic. I could have produced a better script. In fact, anyone could. lol yeah no. Forsaken is the best one, and you’re supposed to get lore from lore books and in game missions. You can read all the lore here: Ishtar-collective.net . I recommend you do so, since the lore in destiny is extremely deep and interesting, and definitely my favorite story ever. Path of Exile is about to release their sequel and everything from the first game transfers to the new one. no. The classes are supposed to be basic. Not complex. And stuff isn’t supposed to carry over. Destiny 2 is a COMPLETELY different game, with different loot systems, with different perks, with different mods, with different everything. #11 - The PVP in this game is unbearable for myself. I don't know how to phrase it proper its so frustrating. Although that might be a myopic statement because its not clear to me that any game gets PVP perfect. gunplay in destiny is the best of any video game out there, and that’s a well known fact. But crucible is dominated by OHK weapons and auto rifles and is in a bad state right now. Its freaking pathetic. ninjas moderate the forums. Mentors hang out in the #help section, helping people. In closing. This was specific to new players. I trust that veterans might not understand, but these are just some things I wish I had known before I spent $100 of gun 'skins' that can't fit to anything I actually own. LOL. So perhaps I am an idiot for not reading the bold print. I just assumed they were universal. (JK) bruh moment. When you go to purchase an ornament, it literally says: “can be applied to this gun” and shows that gun, and whether you have it or not. However, ultimately for me it came down to 3 major issues. Oh well. no need to contact TONS of customization, you’ve barely scratched the surface Keep your helmet on Weapon skins are supposed to change one weapon, so that in the end, every weapon looks different. I can’t even say how bad it would be to be able to make every gun look the same. You can reacquire stuff from collections, so you don’t have to keep them in your inventory. The story is amazing. Thanks, hope this helps.
In conclusion, you’re holding destiny up to the wrong standards. You’re expecting this game to be a warframe, borderlands, fallout combo with VERY different everything. Destiny is it’s own genre. Destiny is the ONLY game like it out there. You played for one week, played like 2 story missions, and gave up. You’re a quitter. And you have no entitlement to voice your feedback. Try destiny again, get a friend to show you around. Maybe then will you understand that this game is NOTHING like ANY other game in existence. Now STOP expecting it to be that!!! Edit: To anyone who’s asking, I don’t like OP because this guy comes in like a gaming critic, expecting a flawless game, plays a few missions from the red war campaign ONLY, and says that the story is bad just based off that, and then goes on to list unimportant QoL changes LIKE THEYRE GAME-BREAKING!!!
