There should be no reason why ANY gun should have flinch that brings your reticle to your targets head. It’s called flinch for a reason. The direction you get shot from should effect how you’re flinched, and the larger caliber bullet the more flinch should be applied. People calling for de-scope to be added just want snipers to be obsolete. Destiny has terrible RNG hip-fire accuracy and de-scope would just make people play even more ”annoyingly passive” with snipers than they are right now.

  • I didn't say it [i]would [/i]happen, I'm just giving my viewpoint on how I think it should be. The arguments for why flinch should aid poor aim are weak at best, and it's my belief that Bungie should take a second look at it.

    Snipers are actually the ONLY reason people are playing so passively in this game right now. At least if you're going up against scouts and pulses, you can easily move around quickly, into and out of cover and not get instakilled by them. They're easily countered. If you're a sniper, then aren't you supposed to get the first shot off anyway? Descoping a sniper because a better player got the first shot off wouldn't makes snipers obsolete at all. It would make BAD sniper players obsolete, which is A-okay for me.

  • Scouts and pulses are [b]primary weapons[/b]. You’re comparing apples and oranges. They still kill fast in their intended distances, and you will not always be able to avoid being killed. Snipers are different because they are [b]special weapons[/b]. The same way a shotgun one shot kills in close quarters, you would expect a sniper to one shot kill at range, provided it’s a headshot. Unless you’re a living aimbot (or you have regular one) you can’t counter the handful of movement abilities that Guardians have consistently. People can slide, dodge, shoulder charge, blink, or Icarus dash around corners where a sniper has an angle on if they know they’re there. If I handed you a sniper with descope and I came at you with Hard Light, you would lose 9 times out of 10. Doesn’t matter the angle, doesn’t matter the distance, I would just find the glint and fire/ricochet wildly and you wouldn’t be able to counter it. It doesn’t make you a “bad player” though, it makes it an unfair mechanic.

  • it would make it far more realistic and show exactly why snipers have zero place in this game. WE never have maps with the actual range to use a sniper rifle.

    If we did players would complain about scout rifles and snipers being too dominant just like they complain about shotguns and auto rifles being too dominant on close range maps.
