Power creep has to be managed in these games. Or else they die.

There is no power creep. Most Weapons are weak already.
-
Could this guy be anymore of a Bungie nut hugger?
-
yeah he/she could be but its already disgusting enough as it is
-
Power creep of what? Spare Rations? Cause exotics aren't going anywhere
-
Recluse, hammerhead, 21%, Tranquility, Swarm, Mountain Top, Outrageous Fortune, and many other broke legendaries in PvE alone are what cause issueswhen something is being designed. Bosses have to be able of taking 30-40k DPS from 6 people or else they are a sack of potatoes.

Editado por TJ_Dot: 3/1/2020 1:12:53 AMSo an SMG with a perk that got nerfed already, an LMG of an archetype with laser like reliability, another that's only good against ads, a sniper with one "good" perk and Grenade Launchers with Spike grenades (not nearly as bad with no auto reload) wow, really stopping Izanagi and Whisper from sniping everything What makes you think they won't just make more of these? and make you grind out what you already have because people don't appreciate new except not really that new of stuff as much as they would like. You know what would really be a "new" gun to D2? Doctrine of Passing if it's a 900 again.

if weapons sun set out of raids and dungeons then we can have more Pre nerf recluse weapons, pinnacle level perks can be put in the rotation of normal weapons and make it to where we feel powerful (for those that don’t)
-
Wouldn't that be power creeping, the thing to avoid? Recluse once being too good, now the norm?
-
with the weapon retirement it wouldn’t be so problematic seeing as it will be irrelevant in 3 seasons.
-
But the level of power would be the same. Accomplishing nothing.

Apart from having amazing art that sets them each apart from other guns of the same general use case, they have varied stat distributions, perks, and gameplay feel compared to previous weapons while still being in the same fundamental archetypes that make up the sandbox; Breachlight and Steelfeather in particular have become popular and are likely to be more popular and competitive next season due to standard re-balancing. I feel that they are an excellent example of new weapons done right - they are attractive new options, regardless of how many older guns are still viable. And Bungie created them while rolling out a series of well-chosen nerfs and buffs that have made the weapon meta in Crucible and various PvE modes steadily more fun and varied. (In my opinion.)

Nerf are still weapon retirement. It just leaves the illusion that you get to keep the weapon. When the fact is they break it and hand the pieces back to you.

Editado por Romulus: 3/1/2020 1:41:36 AMIf the weapon is genuinely dominating the meta to the extent that it makes things boring, then there’s an actual reason for it to be nerfed. In addition, that form of adjustment also doesn’t incur a penalty to your Power Level if you still enjoy using the weapon after it’s been weakened. Of course, there is such a thing as a mechanical, non-Power-related nerf that is not properly justified, but I’d say many nerfs of that type have the right intention behind them, at least, unlike nerfing a weapon’s Power Level capacity. Again, “we want people to pick new weapons over old ones regardless of whether we put in the effort to make new weapons interesting” is not a great justification for forcing weapons into artificial obsolescence, especially when there’s not even any consideration for whether the old weapon in question is too dominant in the current meta. For example, the Recluse is still competitive and fun to use after the nerf to its non-precision damage output and ricochet rounds’ range, but you don’t see it as often anymore; by and large, the people who use it seem to be people who want a fairly meta SMG energy option, but who have more fun using Recluse over other viable choices in the same spot that fill a similar function. Under the proposed system, however, there will eventually come a time when equipping the Recluse for new raids or Trials will come with a penalty to Power Level. How is that supposed to produce more variety than the current system?

Nah just have a rotation of reskins. Thats way easier. Lol
