I’ve been saying this for quite a while now. I’d rather Bungie just focus on some new stuff entirely, and start fresh with a clean slate. At this point I’m ready for an entirely new experience. Let D2 go, it’s run it’s course, and just focus on D3.
Next gen console hardware should be able to provide them the tools to accommodate all the bells and whistles that they’re unable to add or fix currently, due to “technical limitations”.
As soon as they debuted the seasonal content model and I got a better understanding of what to expect and how it worked, I still preferred the old version of fewer larger dlc drops in the year and one major expansion instead of the smaller steady drip feed. It’s just more in line with my style. The content had more weight to it, felt more meaningful. Better narrative.
Even if there are larger droughts in between major dlc drops, it gives everyone the time to really get through it all and catch up.
They can still temper that with little events and such but there’s absolutely no need to give us another Menagerie type event every 3 months if it’ll just get replaced by the same damn thing again. All whilst relegating our earned gear (mainly armor) useless, only to force us to regrind all over again.
Can’t you see this cycle is unsustainable? It’s not gonna last. People don’t wanna feel like their efforts are cheapened or all for naught.
That’s exactly what’s happened.
It doesn’t respect the players time investment.
This Forbes article echoes that same sentiment. Paul Tassi has great articles, actually plays the game a lot and knows his shit. I’ve read his work many times, and this one hits the nail on the head.
Thoughts?

Yeah bring back the one big expansion a year model so that more people can come and whine about lack of content 2 weeks after launch. The only difference will be that the whining will continue for the rest of the year with no content.
