Many of you have your heart in the right place and believe these multi million dollar companies need to add new revenue streams to survive modern game development, but the numbers just don't fit that narrative.
Let's look at some numbers shall we?
Destiny 2's publisher's (Activision) total assets are worth $17.452 billion.

Not sure what Destiny 2's developer (Bungie) is worth, but just their website is estimated to be worth 91,000,000.

The lowest paid Bungie software designer makes $80,000.

Hell Bobby Kotick (Activision's CEO) is worth $2,000,000,000 by himself. How many engrams you think he's bought?

This company doesn't need Eververse to feed themselves. It's purely greed.

I want 17 billion in assets....
-
This post is completely out of context the whole Activision has enough money doesn't mean they should give things away for free all the time. That number is for Activision, how many IPs is that? you have destiny, over watch, Wow and everything else contributing to that total. companies make money that's how they survive. this is cosmetic stuff. It doesn't effect you in game. When eververse was launched we all said if it says cosmetic we would be ok. It has they haven't switched anything up. Yes they added more cosmetic stuff, why because we brought it. The ONLY reason we want this stuff is because we honestly have everything else. If other stuff, guns and gear were harder to get we wouldn't care but the only loot we are chasing is eververse. So you either buy it or don't.

Editado por Shadowjack: 12/23/2017 4:01:23 AMITT: no one understands assets. Also: where do you think they get the money to pay those software designers from? Profits. I'm not a fan of microtransactions at all-the Dawning armor I have came from a drop and from spending dust for the Warlock chest-and I don't like a lot of the ways gaming companies are building games around them, but christ, if you think giving the assets of a company (that isn't actually Bungie, since Activision Blizzard isn't kicking in the dev costs, their deal was a marketing and publishing one over 10 years) and then pointing out that people in the company make money is proof that companies don't need revenue streams...well. You're an idiot.
-
Well it ain't leaving, but at least they are gonna do something about it https://youtu.be/aODeyb4pLAs
-
as long as people are buying, itll remain in the game.... so stop buying
-
-
You'd think that they'd learn with what happened to EA... but then again, knowing Bungie, better yet, Activision, that's highly unlikely

Remove eververse

Bungie stop being a jerk

Signed. I'm done sticking up for Bungie on this. You have this amazing game with incredible gun-fights, boss designs, weapon designs, etc... brought down by terrible design decisions. All this stuff we're getting in micro-transactions should be rewards for doing repeatable in-game activities. I bought the game, I don't need to keep spending money on things that should be included with the game itself. I don't mind spending a few bucks for skins, but the way it's implemented is not good. RNG into purchasable items is a bad call and shouldn't be a popular tactic. It's a middle finger to gamers and consumers. Look at games like Path of Exile. That's how micro transactions should be handled. Want a cool new skin? Awesome, buy the skin. Arenanet also does this with their skins in Guild Wars 2. Eververse needs to go. It's making a great game terrible.

Remove Evervese and please for love of god stop buying crap from it.

All of these remove eververse posts are giving me flashbacks to the Ben kenobi posts from Destiny 1.

We even got a Smart boi in the revolution.

I thought activision had 50 billion?? I must of misread something. Still, remove the eververse shit

Wew lads. Look at all that stolen product of worker's labor.

Dont listen to this idiot. He only has 55 hours played on D2 and almost 500 on D1. He barely plays. His argument and opinion are invalid. Good day sir
-
Cry me a river. Buy some Activision stock then.

It's adorable that people are honestly upset over cosmetic items. Sorry if you feel your character isn't the prettiest Belle of the ball, however they do not affect your gameplay. If you want to be so adamant about the removal then just stop using that one small feature of the game. It's not hard, nor should this be a feeling that is pushed onto everyone, if people want to spend extra money on cosmetics (a feature in literally any other big MMO, as this game is partly considered) then that's something they get to do.

*facepalm* ----- First off, before the peanut gallery kicks in, this is not an endorsement of eververse or loot boxes, or gaming industry practices of building in microtransactions. Just attacking the absurdity of the original post and how it's trying to inflame the forums using things that are just an example of ignorance and lack of understanding in action. ----- Just stop, seriously. You are embarrassing yourself with trying to use numbers to make a point that has little or no relation to nearly any of that. Go take an Econ, business, or accounting class at anything higher than a grade school level and actually learn why you are just, quite frankly, ignorant. Yes, a large global company is going to have a lot of assets. They are mostly physical assets. This is mainly made up from the estimated or appraised values of physical things like buildings, equipment, land, etc. now, in order to keep those things, maintain them, repair them, or yes, replace some it it, it take actual liquid assets, or more commonly known as money. A revenue stream. There is a big difference there. Don't believe me? Go back a few years and see how automotive companies with assets of billions of dollars nearly went bankrupt and almost went out of business completely. Or, look at target, or Kmart, or any other brick and mortar store that has failed or is failing. On paper they have a lot of worth, but that doesn't keep the doors open as that money is only really usable AFTER you liquidate the assets. As to the engineering pay thing. Honestly, that's about average pay for someone who has gone through at least four years of schooling, multiple certification programs for skills, and has at least some actual experience. For comparisons sake, people who work in IT in hospitals providing support or building stuff in EPIC make that after 3-5 years if they are any good, and that's without getting into supervisory or project lead positions. Don't biatch about people applying themselves and earning a decent living, instead get out from behind the controller and apply yourself to something worthwhile.

Editado por LordOfSouls95: 12/22/2017 10:08:06 PMI'm sorry but you're a complete moron if you think total assets equates to profit. If all the money you have to your name is 10,000 and then you go buy a car for 5000, you no longer have 10,000 actual cash because you have 5k in ASSETS. Sure they have billions in assets, but unless you can show me their overheads your entire argument is moot and you just look like an idiot who doesn't understand business.

Well you're not wrong about one thing, they don't need eververse and we all know it. They said that eververse would be used to fund live events and give us new content but almost every "live event" has dropped content that we need to buy, we can earn one or two things but after that we have to buy if we want more or of we want something better than that piece of crap we got as a reward. Now that D2 gameplay is practically fueled by eververse, we can see now more than ever that it's an excuse for Bungie to not need to focus so much on story writing, etc. There's little lore left and what lore remains speaks in riddles half the time and doesn't paint a full picture, we can't choose to wear whatever we want anymore (and yet Bungie prided themselves on the ability to play dress up in D1), I could go on but we all know the issues.
