Exotic does not mean good, it simply means it has a perk or two unlike any other weapon.

 • Then there is very little reason to restrict players to only equipping one.

 • If you ran around with a sword, invective, and supercell. You don't think that would be a little too much? Exotic refures to the perks and you are only allowed to have one weapons with these exotic perks. If you get lucky and get a god roll legendary great but no matter how hard you try a legendary cannot be an exotic.

 • Depends on the situation. 1. The game has legendary swords....so the only difference would be the exotic attack for whatever sword it is your carrying. 2. The only thing htat is unqiue about Invective at this point is its ability to regenerate ammo. Plus----in carrying a sword, you make running a with a shotgun sort of redundant. 3. Zhalo is a fun toy----but unless there's an Arc damage burn modifier-----its no more formidable than a good scout rifle with full auto and firefly. The problem here is two-fold. Exotics have gotten weaker....and Legendaries have gotten stronger and more plentiful. I'm all for keeping the one-exotic rule. But Bungie needs to make the weapons stronger to justify that restriction. Right now they just aren't.

 • I was pointing out something by saying three exotics and you saying the supercell is not good is you opinion some people love it. Year one the only time people used exotic primary's is during crucible. The only secondary ever used was icebreaker and only one heavy. Yeah they made the icebreaker and gally not as strong and didn't bring them into year two. If you think exotics got weaker you have not been playing destiny long enough or do not understand how the game works.

 • Not really. Just because exotics don't nuke the floor in a single trigger pull these days doesn't mean they are not powerful. Spindle is probably as close you can get to power from year 1. NTE removes reloading on bosses most of the time which is a lot of up time on damage. Swords are all very powerful and unique and only come at the cost of potential harm. I can go on.

 • 1. Black spindle is locked behind one of the game's most difficult exotic quests...and much of Year 2's content has been designed to limit its usefulness. I don' t even carry mine unless I'm doing the raid. 2. You have many legendary abilities that mimic NTTE. Triple Tap for example. Which is why---once again----my NTTE sits in my vault. 3. Yes. The exotic swords are one of the few very powerful Year Two exotics. But their power is limited by the needt o get close to an enemy to use it. Its is a High risk/High rewards weapon. Sorry but the Exotics in the game right now have been designed to be SO SITUATIONAL in their benefits, that most of them are little more than ***interesting*** toys, rather than gear that genuinely makes your Guardian more powerful. Which is why most of them are sitting in people's vaults collecting dust. Bungie wants to hve its cake and eat it too where exotics are concerned...and its just not working.

 • Doesn't matter how often you in particular use the spindle. Doesn't change how powerful it is. No. Triple tap doesn't mimic NTTE's perk in the slightest. You have perks that help with ammo conservation sure. But no legendary perk doing that is on the level of NTTE's perk. Not. at. all. As I said I can give further examples. Exotics aside from 3-5 weapons are perfectly usable. And perfectly strong. Peoples view's have changed to "they suck" for a few reasons. 1) Y'all are basically drunk off of power from year 1. And by power I mean broken and never should have existed. 2) Exotics have been stream lined. Are easier to get. 3) Legendary weapons can perfectly tweak their performance in order to bend the guns rules. Exotics are stuck with the basic stats they come with. and often the perks that alter stats on their guns don't do it nearly enough to make them stronger. Legendaries are not better because exotics suck. Never has been the case never will be. Legendaries are "better" because they can alter their base stats in a meaningful way. I mean that's what god rolls are. If exotics could re roll their perks aside from their unique one they would hands down dump all over any perfect rolled legendary.

 • 1. It does matter. Power that doesn't have any usefulness (because of the design of the game) is not a risk to be game-breaking. 2. Triple tap does. Both perks give you ammo back to the magazine for critical hits. ..and unless you're raiding...you're either going to run out of primary ammo or your target is going to be dead before the differences become meaningful 3. Hardly. I agree with the house-cleaning that Bungie did going into Year Two. But I also recognize when the pendulum has swung too far back in the other direction. The swords are the only Year Two exotics that are where they need to be in terms of both power AND usefulness. 4. They haven't been "streamlined". They've been neutered and turned into infusion fuel, to prevent them from breaking The Crucible. They IGNORE the PVE players fundamental need to feel powerful. 5. Yes. Which is why so many exotics are gathering dust. Because they've been neutered to the point where a well-rolled legendary can often outperform the exotics in that same slot. IOW, there is very little (not enough to warrant giving up you only exotic weapon slot) that Thunderlord or SGA can do that the raid LMG can't. I don't use my sniper rifle to clear out trash mobs or for crowd control. So Hereafter and Zen Meteor are interesting toys...but not particularly useful. Invective? and Fourth Horseman? Legendary swords do the same job...and do it better. Bottomline. Many of the exotics of Year One. Especially the hand cannons, Ice Breaker and Gjallarhorn were overpowered. Bungie did right in nerfing them, or removing them from the game. But they've gone too far in the other direction. Most of Year Two's exotics are underpowered at best....useless toys, at worst. To justify limiting players to carrying only one, they need to strike a better balance. Like I said, the swords are about where the should be. A few primaries like Hawkmoon and Bad Juju are also close. But the vast majority are still underpowered...and you have a few outliers like Unversal remote that still need to be nerfed a bit.

 • 1) implying that spindle is useless outside of the raid? 2) Difference is triple tap gets 1 round every 3 shots. You still have to reload. And the ammo given back from triple tap is minor. I frequently use a hand cannon with triple tap. Which is where the extra damage would matter most because of their power per shot. Unfortunately it doesn't amount to much. NTTE's perk gives you free ammo as well. except it's ammo pulled from no where and goes directly back into the mag. Meaning if you land every single shot with your burst you'll never need to reload. Triple tap even with perfect accuracy still forces a reload eventually. I can agree that as an exotic perk it's not interesting. But it's still really damned powerful. 3) https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/210574504 my post explaining the power of majority of the year 2 exotics. 4) Hyperbolic nonsense. Also it doesn't take long to look around. There have been quite a few people who've stated part of the reason exotics don't feel powerful is because of how easy they are to come by. (which in itself is a silly notion since if you ran 3 characters since the beginning exotics were not super rare.) You might not agree with that sentiment. I certainly don't. It still contributes to some peoples thought process behind agreeing with the notion that exotics don't feel good in year 2. Hence why it's mentioned. 5) Thunderlord is better burst damage than the raid heavy because it ramps up. Meaning less time out in the frey being shot at. This can be considered valuable. SGA essentially never needs to reload. And on certain activities you have things you can shoot that don't even consume ammo. Also Datto did a video comparing the new SGA with both the raid LMG and thunder lord. And he did say it's useful and much better in certain aspects. Hear after is literally one of the few exotics that are actually bad. Zen meteor is actually good. But it depends on how you play. Because the 3 shots you use to kill adds equates to essentially that single shot that you get from proccing the perk. So what matters here is the situation. if you are fighting a boss like golg then zen probably isn't worth it. Since you can unload into his belly with no worries. However certain bosses do force players to hide or stop shooting and run away. So in those cases burst damage is more valued. It could potentially be easier for a player to dome 3 adds and then pop a quick shot on the boss for a guarenteed good amount of damage then trying to stand in the open and land 3 shots perfectly and not jepordize yourself or the mission. Invective is a safe option that gives good burst damage. You'll always have special ammo. Forth horseman kills anything infront of you pretty much instantly. Insane burst damage in a really short period of time. And the comparison to swords is a false one. Swords take your heavy slot. Which can be argued would be better saved for something to use against a boss. Raze lighter is also good at killing one target right away. and is the only one i'd compare to shotguns. Dark drinker is good aoe but not the best damage wise. and bolt caster is the only option that does like all 3. But is poor at all of them. It's damage on a single target isn't really great. It's AOE is really only good on trash mobs. it's appeal is that you can actually use it on a boss from distance. But why bother with that when I could use sleeper? Further more shotguns have the ability to crit. Which potentially means more damage. As i've already mentioned you're sacrificing your heavy slot which is your boss killing slot. And heavy ammo unless you're a titan with ruin wings isn't a reliable source to depend on versus special ammo. So you'd get to use your shotguns more frequently. Swords are not at all better than shotguns. Bottom line is plenty of people undersell exotics in year 2. And either are not aware of nuances in combat like i've mentioned in this reply. or simply refuse to see them. You don't have to view them as valuable. This is after all an opinion. But to factually state they are bad and have no viable use is just wrong.

 • 1. I'm saying it has little usefulness because the design ethic for end-game content and strikes OTHER than the raids (in Year Two) gives you little opportunity to stand in one place and snipe slow-moving bosses. 2. I'm aware how the perks work. But the reality of it is, that---unless you are taking on a boss-----by the time the differences become meaningful, youre target is already DEAD. 3. Been playing this game since the beta...and I've used every exotic weapon this game has ever produced. I'm aware of the strengths and weaknesses of all of them. 4. Perception isn't Reality. REALITY is REALITY....and the OBJECTIVE reality is that Bungie used Year Two to reboot the weapon system and remove ceratin overpowered exotics and legendary (read: VoG raid) weapons from the game. Those that weren't removed were subjected to SIGNIFICANT nerfs to reduce their DPS capabilities. Do I need to provide the link to the weapon rebalancing update that dropped the week before The Taken King dropped? I dont' care how easy or how difficult they are to get. Year Two exotics have perks that are far more situational than those of Year One. Especially those that have perks that allow them to do more damage. 5. I didn't say any of the weapons were useless. I said they were SITUATIONAL...and that the differences in power between them and well-rolled legendaries is neglible. In fact, in many cases, the well-rolled legendary is actually a better weapon. Example. I have a Tuonela (Omolon) SR 4 that I got early in Year Two from the Gunsmith. It rolled with Rescue Mag, Hand-Laid stock and Firefly. Which means this max-stability SR (with a naturally low baseline recoil) is a head-shot machine, that gives me AOE damage with each precision kill...and if I'm low on health the magazine is instantly reloaded. The only exotic SR in the game that even competes with it is Tlaloc and Touch of Malice. But My SR4 is more stable. More accurate...and only does slightly less damage than the overcharged Tlaloc once you factor in Firefly. Then when you also factor in that I don't have to give up my super...... Is why Tlaloc has spent most of Year Two gathering dust...and only comes out when I want the Grenadier perk. ...and Touch of Malice? Hell, the things as much of a danger to me as the enemy, FFS. 6. You're missing the point on swords. The exotic swords allow you to do the same burst damage that only rocket launchers could do in Year one (before they got nerfed sideways)...but have NONE of the weaknesses of them. The solar sword allows you to focus that massive burst on a single target. The void sword lets you deliver AOE damage. Bolt-caster (my favorite) also allows you to attack at RANGE...and extert crowd control at that distance. That kind of of power is the only kind that is substantial enough...and versatile enough----to warrant limiting you to only carrying one exotic. Al lthe others are either too watered down....or designed to be too situational.

 • 1) I wanted clarification on the spindles usefulness. You said both raids and strikes. Which means it's useful for all end game content. at least on the pve side. 2) You are correct in that NTTE is a boss killer not a mob killer. It is helpful against mobs because of the up time imo. But I can agree Triple tap is better for mobs. Either way it seems like you acknowledge it's potential against bosses. So I don't understand why you'd write it off. 3) This statement neither adds to my point nor does it disprove it. So i'm going to take this as a win here. Because you didn't argue any of my points. 4) Perception is reality. Because how we view power and usefulness is different because it's an opinionated point. You can throw the nerfs at me all you want. I'm saying for the most part none of those nerfs pushed any exotic into useless ness. So saying "hey these things got nerfed" is doing nothing but stating the obvious. 5) Semantics. People claim situational=useless. and considering your next sentence literally spells out useless you kind of contradict yourself. And the last part is something we're already arguing about. Legendaries are not better. They are more versatile. Which again depending who you are means something different. 6) I can't really miss something that you never pointed out. You compared exotic swords to exotic shotguns. So until you can actually counter anything i've said about swords versus shotguns which is what you've originally posted i've got nothing more to say on this.

 • No. I'm arguing facts...you're arguing perception and emotion. I'm looking at the pure damage out put of these weapons and the impact their respective abilities have on game play..and the ease with which content can be cleared. You want to argue ease of acquisition and how people FEEL about using them. Like I said...I don't care about those things. The Year One exotics weren't OP because they were hard to get, or the made people feel powerful. They were OP because Gjallarhorn did 2.5x the damage of any other rocket launcher at baseline. that number rose to 7.5x when it was a solar burn. They were OP because Ice Breaker and Black Hammer (an exotic in legendary clothing) gave you essentially INFINITIE AMMO...and allowed you to position yourself without having to worry about getting ammo, or waiting for ammo syth cooldowns. ..and I don't think I have to tell you what the exotic hand cannons and OG Suros Regime, Pocket Infiinty, and the Vex had on the Crucible. Nothing in the Year Two arsenal even REMOTELY rises to that level of (vertical) power...and anything that could have done so....Bungie made sure to cripple out of the gates. Tlaloc requires you to give up your super. Touch of Malice steals from your own life energy...so you have to stop using it at regular intervals to keep from KILLING yourself with it. Black Spindle----the most direct portover of a Year one "exotic" to Year two? Nerfed. No more infinite ammo. The magazine is reloaded from your reserves. A substantial reduction in damaqe "throughput."

 • If you were arguing facts you would be able to see with basic math how something like NTTE with the ability to never reload is a HUGE boost in up time for damage. You're not arguing facts at all. Your position on exotics is how you "feel." And it's not more factual or legitimate then my perspective. It's contradictory for you to explain why things were overpowered in year 1. Accept that. And be for it. yet then complain about the fact that Bungie went the extra mile to make sure that wouldn't happen again by changing how exotics are designed. You've stated already that these exotics are not powerful. They are situational. And because they are situational they are useless. Even though you also said you weren't calling them useless. But we are arguing in circles here. I've clearly pointed out that almost every year 2 exotic weapon has a use. and that in that place it's powerful. I've pointed out that the only legitimate reason Legendaries are "better" is because they are more versatile. And that at that point it's about preference. Some people want exotics that are useful in multiple scenarios. We have that. Some people want them to be the power houses of year 1. Which in some cases is true. However we can't have both on all exotics because then we recreate the issue from year 1. So i'm going to end my statement here. Almost none of the current exotic weapons are terrible. And if you prefer to run a legendary in that slot because it works for you then go for it. But you are not right about that making them objectively better or that exotics from year 2 are objectively terrible.

 • I am arguing facts. You are not using NTTE on a FIRING range. You are using to kill things that have a limited capacity to take damage. Unless you are laying into a BOSS (or are badly underleveled for the content) most things in this game are going to die in about 5 or 6 trigger pulls. Max. So its only going to be rare opponents where you are going to lay into them with a primary enough for the exotic perk to proc....and proc to the point it makes a SIGNIFICANT difference in damage output compared to scout rifles with triple-tap. Because you will either KILL your target...or you'll be standing in one place for so long, you'll be risking dying yourself. WHICH IS WHY YOU RARELY---IF EVER THESE DAYS----SEE ANYONE USE THE WEAPON OUTSIDE OF THE CRUCIBLE. I'm not arguing in a circle. You're tyring argue against what you THINK I'm saying, rather than what I'm acutally saying. FPA. I said. 1. All the year two exotics have uses. 2. But those uses are too narrow, and too SITUATION-SPECIFIC to make them widely useful....or to warrant they're being used over well-rolled legendaries in the same slot or to justify limiting a player to only carrying one. 3. If Bungie wants to stick to that one-exotic policy...then they need to make Year 3 exotics more powerful and more broadly useful. Not frankly OP as many of the Year One exotics are....but significantly better than the Y2 ones are. MOST YEAR 2 EXOTICS---OTHER THAN THE SWORDS----SEE LITTLE DAILY USE. Because the swords---as a group---hit that sweet spot. Being broadly useful, powerful enough to warrant limiting a player to only one exotic...while at the same time not breaking the game.

 • No. You're not. And i've clearly stated my point with NTTE. It's a boss killer. So I don't know why you keep bringing it up like i'm referring to it being useful everywhere. I did briefly touch on that potentially the up time provided with NTTE might be marginally useful in strikes. But that was it. If you think exotics from year 2 are useful state so. If not then state so. You've been saying that they are situational and because of this they are not good enough. Which again you just stated in this particular reply. So which is it? If they are useful there is no problem here. If they are not good then i'd refer you to the situations i've already pointed out in which certain exotics are powerful. No. They don't. If we right now let everyone run an exotic in all 3 weapon slots we would have issues. Period. They don't need to be more versatile. Nor more powerful. They are designed to be good at one thing. It doesn't matter if it's much better in that one area or marginally. that's for us the player to decide. That's the whole interesting thing about gear based games to begin with. If we make exotics clearly better in one fashion or another they become THE option to go with. Hell even if we had no restrictions right now I really doubt we'd see anyone using legendary weapons. The only reason people stick to them so fondly is because they put the effort into making it perfect and are forced to use a legendary. And unless you've got actual statistical graphs to prove that statement i'm calling BS and ignoring that point. I'm done arguing since this isn't being productive. Good day.

 • Eye roll. People gravitate to the weapons that provide them (and their playstyle) the greatest advantage (ease and speed of killing shit). How often do you see someone running with NTTE with a primary? Basically NEVER unless its in The Crucible or in the Raid (and they don't have Black Hammer or ToM) They don't because they perceive that other weapons (usually swords) are more broadly useful. The fact that the vast majority of Year 2 exotic never see the light of day outside of their owner's vault, means that most people perceive them to be underpowered.
