Imagine batman became the joker and Robin had to go kill him. That's the story of Jaren, Dredgen and Shin Malphur.

I read into it as a Dr jekyll Mr. Hyde kind of thing. I see it as jaren ward and his tlw both had a separate personality. Tlw being jaren rose. And when he went crazy it became his thorn. And eventually dredgen was able to win the battle and took over jaren mind for good. That's y in the death of jaren there is one shot. Tlw followed by 1 shot of something darker. Possibly the thorn. The grimoire doesn't say exactly. But there was no body found just the ghost that stayed behind.

No. Imagine there's a "dark wizard" and a "gunslinger" the gunslinger chases the wizard, and along the way adopts a child. (I'm describing Stephen kings Gunslinger) that's the story. Dredgen is not Jaren.

I've got tons of respect for you and your mastery of lore but you are just wrong about this one, for the purpose of Shin's narrative Dredgen HAS to be Jaren, for a child to watch their hero become a monster and then to have to kill that monster to save the hero's legend is so powerful that I can't see it being anything else

Dredgen killed jaren. Simple reason why they're two people.

I just take that to be a metaphorical killing.

No he is right

Follow the link, go to Dredgen Yor and the murder of Jaren Ward. I show more details as to why they're separate. If it's not there though, Dredgen abandons his ghost on Mars. Jaren died on Earth. That's two ghosts. Separate places.
