The Witness is kind of right tbh…

I get that they’re the “bad guy” and all that jazz, but their motive actually kinda makes sense. Everything we’ve seen from our time in the Destiny universe has been filled with conflict and strife and death (from both sides). Unifying everything into a singular peaceful existence actually sounds quite beautiful when you really think about the intention. Obviously the roads to hell are paved with good intentions and they’re trying to massacre all of us in order to get the job done… but still, it does make you think… ————————— Edit: I’m not a lore nerd, so feel free to completely school me on some of this stuff if I’m missing something here Also I underlined that last sentence because some people have trouble reading 😑 I’m not an idiot, I know they’re trying to kill us all. But their goal is a form of peace, same as us. Their version includes them controlling all of our existence and denying all free will. Which is obviously not a good thing and is why they’re the “bad guy” in the first place.

  • I don’t think you know how he plans to implement this. If you did you wouldn’t think it’s anywhere close to right

  • You realize he is trying to bisect reality, cutting it to pieces for analysis and anatomy, all the while, ossifying it in place. Look at any Pyramid Relic. Notice how it is angular and crystalline at times. The worms in Rhulks pyramid. The Statues in the Pale Heart. That is the destiny that awaits the universe should the Witness go through his plan. He removes Chaos by freezing the universe in place. Nothing Lives. Nothing Dies. There is no reason to exist outside of the Witnesses pleasure. Is that truly beautiful?

Thank You Cayde, I will never forget!!! - antigo

Faulty Logic, just end all possibility of life and happiness to avoid struggle ? And sentient beings should have free will to choose to fight for there existence or to die Yes there is going to be pain, suffering and death, but there is also, love, joy and prosperity, have to take the bad with the good Life is such a precious gift, and should be fought for with every ounce of one's being, sometimes life sucks, but has long has your alive, there is a chance and hope for better days, death is the end of all things, bad and good, why are we cursed with death, why do we have to lose the people we care about , death is the enemy of all things Fug the witness, I am the final shape

    • The Final Shape isn’t a perfect reality, it’s what the Witness believes to be a perfect reality. Never changing. There is no invention or evolution of any kind, because change can be unpredictable. Existence frozen into a single moment. Look at the calcified statues on the Pyramids, which have been described as both being between life and death and representative of the Witness’s goals. It sounds agonising, but you’d likely be rendered incapable of perceiving it that way. You wouldn’t even be capable of questioning, because to doubt the Final Shape is to deny it as the universal perfection the Precursors believed it to be.

      • It's going to happen, what matters is how. And who is arbiter of our fate. If we are the blade, it will be Savathun and us by proxy per the prophecy.

      • No, and you should seriously reconsider why you think that way to begin with. There'd be no "beauty" in whatever singular existence the Witness intends to oppose, given everything we've seen so far. The majority of the conflicts, strife, and deaths within the setting have been the result of the Witness' actions, either directly or indirectly, because it wants to impose its own will upon everything and everyone else in reality. The Penitent could not cope with the fact there was no singular purpose to existence, that the universe was unpredictable and random, that the Traveler wouldn't give them "purpose", and their response was to wipe out the other factions that disagreed with them, use the Veil to take their conscious minds apart, and reassemble themselves into the Witness in order to pursue their Final Shape. Not to mention that the Penitent even made the Witness incapable of doubting or dissenting from the "purpose" they made it for by removing any memory of pain, strife, grudges, and prejudices they had. They chose to forget anything that could prove their beliefs wrong and made the Witness into an entity that, in a sense, has no free will.
