All i see on here are posts from people claiming they EARNED their icebreakers buying it from xur. And discounting people who got it through raids, nightfalls and so on. Let me get this straight here people, you think buying one of the two best guns in the game for 17 strange coins, which can be gotten from doing two weekly strikes on hard. TWO. 9 strange coins a piece. Your gonna sit there and say you EARNED your icebreaker. Honestly, i laugh at these people. No matter if its RNG or not. The people who have put hundreds of hours into this game, through raids, nighfalls and crucible are the ones who EARNED it. They put in the time grinded through getting rare engrams in crucible and six visions of confluences in the vault to finally see one of the best guns in the game drop. If im not mistaken the more you click on a random number generator the more likely you are to roll that number. Therefore the people who put the time in, hours and hours into the game, DESERVE and have EARNED their icebreaker. And those who have bought it from xur who claim they have earned it too because in the four or five months the game has been out they have accumulated 17 strange coins from blue engram drops in patrol, or did the weekly twice for a total of 30 minutes.
So congrats bungie, selling the best items in the game for a measly 17 strange coins?! For a lack of a better term its sad. And if gjallahorn ever goes on sale again I'll probably stop playing this game, if your idea of rewarding your most loyal players is selling their hard EARNED gear for 17 pathetic strange coins... that is all. Hope you enjoyed and looking forward to feedback. Id love to hear everyones opinions.
EDIT 1- Does anyone read posts before they comment with their stupidity? I said. Clearly. That people who put the time into this game through hours of raids and nightfalls earned their icebreakers. Not christmas noobs who get it first crucible game. Those saying you earned it because your using currency that you say you "earned" that can be accumulated with what 3 hours of gameplay? I find hilarious.
EDIT 2- wow clearly nobody has reading skills. Not once in my post did i say if your a shit player going 2-49 in crucible and get a lucky rng drop you earned it. I also didnt say that if you have hundreds of hours and you buy the gun from xur you didnt earn it. I SAID that if you are a dedicated destiny player. You have the hours put in via nightfalls, raids and so on. You EARNED your icebreaker. I really dont understand how people cannot find logic in this...
3rd and final edit- When you work at the same job for 5 years doing the same thing over and over well. Shouldn't you earn a promotion or a reward for that? When you do something good one time for an hour do you recieve a promotion or a reward for that? No, you dont. And that ladies and gentlemen is my point.
4th and maybe final edit if tards will stop commenting on this-
99% of you disagree with me. Fine i get it. You want icebreaker. I dont give a shit if you have it or not haha. I was just trying to prove a point.
That people like myself who have played since day 1 and have played the game for a good amount of time, feel shafted because obviously we are working towards getting the best gear/weapons. We feel this way because valuing one of the best weapons in the game at a measly 17 strange coins is bull. You can get 9 in one week on one character! Every week! If they are going to sell the best guns/armor why not jack it up to 60 or 80 strange coins if you want the best gear? And guess what if you dont have enough. Play the damn raids and try to get it to drop for you like the rest of us. Dont just pop destiny in for the first time and a week later you have the best gun in the game. Oooooo how fun that must be.
Whether or not you agree i dont care. But im sure there are many like myself who agree with me. Let the negative nancies continue to pour in.

I found an Ice Breaker in the second week of the game, and found it -blam!-ing awesome. Eventually, it went up for sale, and you know what my reaction was? "Oh, cool." and I bought a second one. Since then, I have found 3 more for a total of 5. You know how many I feel I earned? Not one. You know how many of my exotics in total I feel I earned? None other than some of the bounty ones. I still don't have a Gally, and if I found one next week, I wouldn't say I earned it. that's just asinine. But if Xur sold it and I bought it, I also wouldn't say I earned it from that either. You know what I would say? "I have a Gally." In a game with a loot system as ridiculous as this, no gear is really earned. This whole "Earned/Xurned" thing was stupid 4 months ago and it's still stupid now, regardless of how long someone has been playing.

There's so much back n forth craps on what's actually earned. I've been here since beta, bought my first when he sold before, 2nd dropped in Crota raid, bought my third today. None of them feel any more earned than the other, because they're not. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather he sold the high end guns more often. More ppl with ib and ghorn means my raids go quicker and smoother. Why wouldn't someone want that?
-
Blah, blah, blah...
-
Tl:Dr but if some people get the icebreaker in their first ever raid, did they earn it? How many raids so you think they should play after that to earn it? I someone played VoG 50 times and didn't get it they're unlucky, doesn't mean they earned it anymore than someone who got it after 5. I played destiny lots and lots but I don't have a great deal of effort for the raids cos I find the lack of matchmaking a bit retarded and don't have more than an hour or two to play each night. Are you saying I don't deserve to get one of the good guns just coz of that even though I played almost every day since release? Keep telling yourself that by grinding through the same things again and again you're earning something. Really it's like a poker player saying they earned the royal flush they got after 5 years. Obviously they didn't it's the luck of the cards.
-
I bought the ice breaker, but guess what, I've been playing since Beta. You know how annoyed I am when I hear a bitch say I didn't earn it like wtf
-
Do you see how much you just wrote about a twinklie in a game? Time to turn off the console.
-
I see your point but yeah I'm a little ticked off that they sold it but also grateful cause although im not a day 1 player I've been playing close since the release and have been doing the nightfalls and raids trying to get it without success so I'm a little mad that i couldnt try earning the gun by doing the nightfalls or raids but am grateful that i finally have it. I totally get your point though. I'm upset how there are people (like christmas noobs) who don't know how to do the Crota raid which could drop the gun but nope they just cheesed him getting to level 32 and then get one of the best pve guns in the game through 17 strange coins.. Now they think they're hot shots.. They didn't EARN the level cap or the gun. As in actually earn the gun through participating in one of the game's most difficult events. The players who have been victims of RNG and have done the raids and everything legit are the ones who earned it too, but just easier.

Got one from atheon, got one from zûr. Both feel the same. Both shoot the same
-
Plain and simple you got it now you earned it.
-
800 hours and rng had yet to grant this to me, 20+ hard vog and 10+ crota completions. Yeah I bought it, yeah I've earned it.
If they are going to sell the best guns/armor why not jack it up to 60 or 80 strange coins if you want the best gear?
I don't disagree with this. I don't mind them selling it. I bought one. Everyone should have bought one of they didn't already have it like me. But I wouldn't have disagreed with them making it more expensive. I think 17 is too cheap for any of the gear you can get for that price. The strange coin economy is a little off I think. I've played plenty of raids and downed atheon a number of times. Nothing crazy, but more than a casual gamer. Less than you nutjobs with 3 32's and more time than me. But I have done enough raids, strikes and otherwise that I feel like I probably should have had one of the best guns drop for me. It hadn't yet, so I bought it....because I'm not stupid. That being said, I couldn't care less if you bought the ice breaker and the game disc on the same day. Good for you.

Bump. Well said, I agree :)

Edytowany przez użytkownika Wayne712: 1/17/2015 11:06:20 PMSo, just to be clear, if I have the game since launch week, and have hundreds of hours game time and do weeklies, nightfalls, etc every week, with 3 different class characters, but wasnt lucky enough to get the RNG drop so bought it from Xur since I'd about 50 strange coins this week, which category do I fall into?

1 OdpowiedźAt the end of the day, you're butt hurt over an artificial gun that does not exist outside your console.

Getting lucky =/= earning. I have both received exotics through luck, and purchased some. Purchasing with currency earned is truly earning something. Let me put it like this. Say you want a new pair of shoes, you find a pair just sitting there in the street and pick them up. It was pure luck that you found them. Meanwhile you have been at work and earned money/currency which you then spend on another pair of shoes. Which pair did you earn? Was it the pair you worked towards? Or was it the pair you received simply by going about your business, which you were going to do anyway? Some people on this forum need to open a dictionary once in a while because the very definition of the word "earned" is getting seriously mixed up with the definition of the word"luck".

Do you buy gear or weapons from any of the vendors in the Tower? Including the Gunsmith.

Edytowany przez użytkownika blaster425: 1/17/2015 10:54:27 PMNOTHING in this game is "EARNED"! You can't earn anything if it's an RNG based game. It's all random! You can do terrible in the nightfall you can not help in the raids and you could be in last place in the crucible on your FIRST time and still get the Ice Breaker. You don't earn anything in this game! It's impossible!

1 OdpowiedźXur, sell Gjallerhorn, this guy needs to stop saying that we didn't earn it cuz we bought it, getting through rng is fun, (I went wee! When thunder lord dropped) but if you know what reward you're working for and manage to get it, it's all the better satisfaction
-
I earned it. I had to solo the 30 weekly to be able to afford it.
-
If I put the time into playing it, I earned it plain and simple. You put the time in this post and you earned the flame and even agreement that came with it.
-
Not from xur rng...so not earned From xur -> coins and coins were earned So if you have got it from a rng moment its not earned lol
-
I got ice breaker the first time it was sold by xur and I got it from the nightfall... So what is your point exactly?
-
I paid for my ps4 and paid for the game and in turn paid for my icebreaker. I earned it. I never earned my ghorn, I got that from killing Atheon. I had no influence on being given that weapon, nor did I achieve it. I simply took part in a raid and walked away with it.
-
1 OdpowiedźI ate general taos chicken for like three days, the shit was a monster. Took about 30 min to pass. I definitely earned my ice breaker through an rng system. I shed one tear when it was finally over. Guess which one the tear was for
-
Yeah I had to kill a certain enemy 500 times and over to earn my icebreaker. -__- No. It's random. RANDOM. You don't -blam!-ing know when you're going to get it. REGARDLESS of xur. Let that nig sell what he wants to sell.

Edytowany przez użytkownika MacheteSquad: 1/17/2015 10:40:43 PMOver 400 hours played on xb1 it never dropped, gotta be close to 100 now on ps4 never dropped. So 500 hours played roughly with no drop now I have been able to buy it but I am sorry I haven't put the time into this game to justify that purchase 500 hours isn't long enough time to play the lottery and earn an item Smh
