DLC light level increase not needed?
Am I the only one who isn't bothered about the light level increasing with each DLC. I would personally be happier with the light level staying at 30. That way people could choose their gear based more on aesthetics with various sets of raid gear to choose from. It would also keep old legendaries relevant while the vendors could go on a rotation between DLC and old stock, creating a greater variation on weapons for people to use.
I just think it would really help improve the diversity of the game. Raid gear wouldn't become irrelevant because it still gives you bonuses while doing that raid. The only problem with this idea is that it requires more work on bungies part, making the DLCs more interesting so that people will want to get the new gear/play the new levels for more than just an increased light level.
What do you guys think?

Raid gear is supposed to be the upper echelon of gear in this game. VOG gear should not become obsolete when CE came out. Likewise CE gear should not become obsolete when HOW comes out. But overall it does give everyone a new kick to get back into the game in order to make the next light level. It gives us something new to conquer. Also everyone is trying to get to level 32 now so when HOW raid comes out they are ready to dive in.

They're not going to invalidate raid armor with vendor armor again.

I think the raids should drop an upgrade for any legendary piece you have. ..take the chest you want to use and your upgrade from the raid to the gunsmith and he raised the light to whatever it is for that raid. ..gives the gunsmith something to do and everyone doesn't look the same

Assuming DLC drops 3/10/15, I'm just hoping that somehow the exotics do not completely reset again already if the light level increases again so soon. I'm sure I'll be disappointed, but to level them up again (especially weapons) for the 3rd time in 6 months?

1 OdpowiedźI wish they would have done VoG raid gear similar to the murmur. Have it capped at level 30 until you got an embalming orb or w/e to finish leveling to 31. Have vanguard gear cap at 30. Crota can go to 32 then cap at 36 at the next dlc. Then everything is relevant.

3 OdpowiedziI think bungie is lazy and that they will never allow us multiple options to be max level. I agree that everything at 30 would be a much better system, but they'll never do it. Plus light system in general is extremely limiting and should be reworked.

Light Level increase is needed for progression reasons. The game feels boring when you finish it. Think of Far Cry 2, 3, and now 4.

3 OdpowiedziI don't care about the level going up, I just don't like the way they pretty much made VoG useless. My thinking would keep vangaurd gear the way it was (level 25-27), you would have to complete VoG to hit 30 or above with the 36 exotic, the CE raid and IB takes you to 32. This would be the same for the next DLC. Vangaurd 25, complete VoG armor and exotic to 30.5, then into CE to 32, to finally be ready for the next DLC. That would make all raids relevant and needed to continue the game. Can't do CE till you master and complete VoG. But that's just me.

Why not keep the VOG raid armor? You get scaled down to it anyway.

I believe that the light level of previous raid items should be increased. Especially because both CE gear and VoG gear are very situational. CE grants bonuses while dealing with Hive enemies and VoG is useful when fighting Vex. It is obvious that we can expect that the Arena will grant us gear with bonuses against the Fallen. All those items should be kept at the same level so that we could change it when fighting a certain enemy type. Nobody cares about the Cabal, because they are encountered only in their Exclusion Zone when Glimmer farming and the gear you wear doesn't matter. I believe that if we get the Raid with Cabal, we will get "Increased amount of Glimmer found in the Exclusion Zone' Perk.

This isn't meant as an insult, but anyone with any experience in MMO's know that this will never happen. These games are meant to drive people into hours of gameplay by offering performance-driven rewards. Aesthetics are nice, but it won't hold enough of the userbase's attention to be worth it. There has to be a carrot at the end of the stick that makes your character better than everyone else's who hasn't done it.

i think its bullshit when you can buy vanguard gear that is higher level than the gear that people actually worked for E.G. the -blam!-ing Dark Below, screwed 30s in vault gear
