My personal "I hate the Thorn bounty" thread.
Who's with me? Who wants this gun so bad, but sucks so hard in PvP? It feel like every time I start making headway, something happens that knocks me flat on my face and drags me kicking and screaming back to 0.
My load out is
Primarily - Epilogue *void*
Secondary - Revenge or void shotty
Heavy - Corrective Measure *void*
I run Hunter Bladedancer in PvP for the invisibility perks.
All that said....I get rekt almost every damned time. When I do have a good game it never fails that the next two are so bad that I loose whatever progress I gained.
This isn't a "nerf the bounty" thread. Thorn should be difficult to obtain. This is a "rant or throw my controller" thread. I never get pissed when I play PvE. I'm calm and will joke around with my friends in party. However I turn into a whiney, screaming, forehead vein popping little twit in PvP. Not at the other players because they are just playing the game. I get pissed at me because I blow donkey dick. I seem to enjoy it too because I keep coming back for more. *try and get that image out of your head now*
I try to snipe...sometimes that works. Then I get thrown in maps where sniping really isn't an option. Ok, so let's use the Epilogue and shotty combo! Nope FML because I get owned. Not only do I get owned, but I get owned so hard I feel like I owe whatever team that I happen to get matched with a damned apology. *if I was ever on your team, I'm truly sorry. If you were on the other team...you're welcome for the easy kills, bastards.*
Anyways...I've been told you can cheat, but I won't do that. I'll cheese PvE sometimes because what I do doesn't affect other players and the bounties are the only true weapons you earn. So, no cheating.
I know I suck. I know I need to "get good". I know I'm a PvP scrub.
All those players in the same boat as me feel free to commiserate in here. All those that want to give me crap for sucking...feel free.
On a side note I did complete the Bad Juju bounty...Yay?
*So, I took a lot of people's advice. I ran strikes until I got a green void fusion rifle. It's slow as -blam!- to charge and I will be praying for a better RNG drop today, but it's the game changer. On advice I also changed my primary for those "oh shit moments" to The Last Word. In 3 control matches I went from 0 to 76. Once I get a better fusion rifle with a faster charge rate I should be able to knock this out fast. Thanks to everyone for their encouraging words! I'll keep everyone updated as to my progress on this friggen bounty.*
Update*
Yeah I got it. Once I figured out what I needed to do as far as weapon load out it was easy. Honestly forgot about this thread but I got it 2 weeks ago?

I did this yesterday with my bladedancer. Took about 3 hours or so I ran Atheons epilogue, praedyths revenge and TRUTH Truth made it easy I just equipped armor to give me max rockets and made sure to get the heavy ammo drops. After a few games its not so bad using the epilogue although its a Bitch at first going up against the mythoclasts and regimes Only other tip I have is DO NOT THINK ABOUT THE BOUNTY, try to forget its there and just have fun

Yea it is hard for people who aren't into PvP, like me. luckily I got this on my Titan, so Defender class to the fore. Love those sticky grenades, probably got about 100 kills with them. Vois shotgun and LMG did the rest. My kd is 0.8, so it is possible

I used a similar set-up, I went with Void shotgun, Void HMG and Gunslinger. Unfortunately, never finished VoG so no void primary :/ My two biggest tips for doing this is to: 1. Use crouch often. Yes, people hate people who crouch around corners with shotguns (including me :P) but it works. 2. If you really have to, get the kill regardless if it's void or not. +0 is better than -2 in this bounty :P

You know those maps you say are bad for sniping? They are actually really good for sniping, my favourite sniping map is firebase Delphi lol, go to the side of zone b with revenge and you can get triple kills like crazy lol

Use a void fusion / sniper rifle, always play cautious so that you don't keep dying and losing points, with a sniper you can just snipe and fusion rifles have very long range, don't use atheon's it sucks in pvp and you would never get a kill 1v1. use heavy rockets because you can get easy kills, not hard really if you play smart and don't get pissed out losing points when you're the one running out dying. it took me a few pvp games and i hate the pvp in destiny but i was positive in score every game so it was just a matter of keeping it that way.

Edytowany przez użytkownika alien70: 1/12/2015 8:57:37 PMGet blue void fusion rifle, these much easier to use than snipers, hide in shadows and wreck people :-) This bounty made me deadly with the fusion rifles (getting master blaster routinely now can't stop, it's just so fun to evaporate charging titans and the jumping shotgunners and the like) :-) Most important perk is accelerated coils, you need to kill them first! Thorn is nice in PVE (and if you can aim fast then in PVP as well). And man, you have Suros, I am so jealous :-) want this gun badly (even bought poor man Suros - Cydonia R3 with Focused fire, but range sucks on it)

Void abilities are huge for this bounty. Titans and Warlocks rejoice.

You have my sympathy. I'm lousy at Crucible, so it was only because I have a void walker warlock (melee, grenades and bombs count!) that I was able to complete the bounty. Even then it took me forever.

Went into Control with a couple of friends, which was not only easier with them covering me, but much more fun than playing PvP solo. Hell, by the end I was even starting to enjoy, and dare I say, get better at it. In one game I had a K/D of 6.5, which is pretty much a miracle for me. My advice is to camp the control points (cheap, maybe, but it gets the job done). Learn the heavy ammo spawns and use Corrective Measure or another void MG. I went on a good few kill streaks this way. Most of all, just persevere and take a break if you need to. The grind is worth it - I'm loving my Thorn and it's not even fully upgraded yet! By the way, I found a void fusion rifle (Final Rest II) to be more effective than snipers or shotguns. Maybe that's just me, though.

I suck at pvp so this is actually a serious idea.. I can beat crotas raid legit.. but I can't finish this bounty.. then again anyone with half a brain can do crota legit .... bottom line I suck at pvp .. kd is like 0.40 I think.

I used two in the morgue and valedictorian 9-44 and I just let it come naturally and didn't force the void damage. It took me about 4 days but I got it done

2 OdpowiedziGood for you. I would say if you are in a bad match I.e die 3 times in a short period of time with no kills then back out. Sigh I now have 3 bad juju bountys, one on each character. At least I do not need to do anything but play and I will eventually complete them. I ground out strikes the first time I had this bounty but I just can't do it this time especially when it is the equivalent of 75 strikes. If you can get the secret handshake with void damage then this is a good shotgun or found verdict esp. With the right perks. Finally use a void lmg (high impact, slow shooting, with preferably field scout perk active) and always go for the heavy ammo.

To the first time I got the thorn bounty I didn't doit cus of the pvp part but the second time I got it all I used was a void shotgun called two to the morge its a 6 bullet auto and a machine gun with void played control and killed the people capturing zones and I didn't do so bad then when I got the thorn I took it to pvp and it -blam!-s people up

I disagree with those saying to not use AE. That's how I do the Thorn bounty. If you're struggling a lot, just change your play style. Try to always be in advantageous positions, camp, stay near control points, etc.

I feel for you bud. I'm not trying to make you feel bad by saying this but you have to be pretty terrible to have a void primary and not make any progress. I'm guessing you're doing what my friend was doing and completely overthinking it. Playing way too cautious. As soon as he relaxed and started playing by instinct his progress went a lot faster. I will say this much. Play defense. That way you won't be so vulnerable to being flanked. Camp heavy ammo as soon as it's announced you may not get a ton of kills but you should make steady progress.

I'd say ditch the epilogue. When I did the bounty the only void weapon I had was the comedian, so I played like that was my primary. It made me feel like a bitch, but at least I got it done, and believe me, I suck hard at crucible. You'll get it eventually, good luck dudebro.

2 OdpowiedziI did the entire bounty in one day the other night. Here's what I used: Atheon's Epilogue Swordbreaker Corrective Measure AE is hard to get kills with but it's very possible if you place yourself strategically. Make sure you're using the stability perk and not the Field Scout perk. You will only ever win a gun fight if you aim for the head. It does 13 critical damage and 10? body shot damage. Also, I brought 2 friends in with me as body guards, basically they followed me around and watched my back, especially after I got heavy ammo. You cannot run and gun with this bounty, you will lose a lot of points that way. Oh yeah, and if you're able to bring some friends, make sure they soften up targets for you so you can take them out for the kills because in my experience assists do not count for this bounty. If I can do this bounty, anyone can. Seriously.

4 OdpowiedziFirstly ditch Atheon's Epilogue--it's pretty difficult to get kills with and more often than not you'll end up on the losing end of the fight, inhibiting your progress. Just use the primary that you're most comfortable with and ENSURE that you get heavy ammo to get some kills. Don't worry about the progress--just focus on going positive by playing carefully and getting kills with your heavy or secondary where you can. It's a little more difficult with a hunter but it's still very doable. Play smart and you'll get there. GL Guardian.

I feel your pain I hate PvP on destiny it sucks nothin but fusion rifles but I wanted that gun so just stick it out you'll get it in the end

Problem number 2: You're using the epilogue in the crucible. Problem number 3: You're still using the epilogue in the crucible. Ditch that gun for anything else you have. It will get you killed faster than it will get you kills. I did this bounty in 5 games with the revenge and nothing else. If you don't get many kills in one game, that's ok. But stick to sniping and getting heavy whenever it's NOT a risk. Even on maps that are incredibly hard to snipe on, post up in a place where a few enemies trickle through but you still have a semi long sight line. Rushing will harm you more than help you, I promise. Just take it slow gaurdian, you'll make it. If you ever wanna play (X1) pm me and I'll hit you up.

I've had this bounty forever and have only recently started making progress by rolling around with a rare void fusion rifle. It makes me feel like a tool but it seem to be the most effective way to get this done.

I don't play the crucible and had the Thorn, Bad Juju and Invective bounties to do on my warlock this past weekend. I completed all three in just 8 games. Subclass - Voidwalker Primary - Atheon's Epilogue Secondary - Void Plug One.1 (with acc. coils) Heavy - Corrective Measure Mostly used the Plug One.1 and had no issues. Worst game I got i had a .94 KDR. Best one I had was a 3.0 and was the match MVP. For an FYI to those that don't know: thorn bounty requires you to get 500 points killing guardians with void damage and you lose points for deaths. The invective bounty requires you to get 25 more guardian kills then deaths The Bad Juju bounty requires you to earn 10,000 points in the crucible
