Who's with me? Who wants this gun so bad, but sucks so hard in PvP? It feel like every time I start making headway, something happens that knocks me flat on my face and drags me kicking and screaming back to 0.
My load out is
Primarily - Epilogue *void*
Secondary - Revenge or void shotty
Heavy - Corrective Measure *void*
I run Hunter Bladedancer in PvP for the invisibility perks.
All that said....I get rekt almost every damned time. When I do have a good game it never fails that the next two are so bad that I loose whatever progress I gained.
This isn't a "nerf the bounty" thread. Thorn should be difficult to obtain. This is a "rant or throw my controller" thread. I never get pissed when I play PvE. I'm calm and will joke around with my friends in party. However I turn into a whiney, screaming, forehead vein popping little twit in PvP. Not at the other players because they are just playing the game. I get pissed at me because I blow donkey dick. I seem to enjoy it too because I keep coming back for more. *try and get that image out of your head now*
I try to snipe...sometimes that works. Then I get thrown in maps where sniping really isn't an option. Ok, so let's use the Epilogue and shotty combo! Nope FML because I get owned. Not only do I get owned, but I get owned so hard I feel like I owe whatever team that I happen to get matched with a damned apology. *if I was ever on your team, I'm truly sorry. If you were on the other team...you're welcome for the easy kills, bastards.*
Anyways...I've been told you can cheat, but I won't do that. I'll cheese PvE sometimes because what I do doesn't affect other players and the bounties are the only true weapons you earn. So, no cheating.
I know I suck. I know I need to "get good". I know I'm a PvP scrub.
All those players in the same boat as me feel free to commiserate in here. All those that want to give me crap for sucking...feel free.
On a side note I did complete the Bad Juju bounty...Yay?
*So, I took a lot of people's advice. I ran strikes until I got a green void fusion rifle. It's slow as -blam!- to charge and I will be praying for a better RNG drop today, but it's the game changer. On advice I also changed my primary for those "oh shit moments" to The Last Word. In 3 control matches I went from 0 to 76. Once I get a better fusion rifle with a faster charge rate I should be able to knock this out fast. Thanks to everyone for their encouraging words! I'll keep everyone updated as to my progress on this friggen bounty.*
Update*
Yeah I got it. Once I figured out what I needed to do as far as weapon load out it was easy. Honestly forgot about this thread but I got it 2 weeks ago?

3 Odpowiedzi
Thorn shouldn't be difficult to obtain
So an EXOTIC should be easy to get? The most powerful weapons in the game should be EASY to achieve?
-
Try void fusion. It's an asshole move and everyone will hate you for it, including me if I run into you, but it'll get it done
-
Wish i could complete this bounty. I am actually pretty good in the crucible.. Just not with the epilogue. I can't stand losing all mu gunfights so i usually switch to my other guns after a couple of minutes.. Void damage makes no sense to me. Oh well.. 1 day^^
-
4 OdpowiedziThis is me! I turn into that same guy in PvP. Had this bounty for ages. Two steps forward, three steps back. Over and over and over. 😟
-
Did the entire bounty this morning. I just used some fusion rifle and I never play pvp. Just play control and play smart.
-
Thorn is totally worth it though. Took me like 2 weeks to get thanks to psn being down and going backwards in points when id try to work on pvp part drunk lol good luck though!
-
I have had this bounty for months lol I have helped countless people kill the witch in phogoth.... I suck with Atheons in pvp, just got sword breaker so that may help. Levelling corrective measures as we speak. Fingers crossed I can play it safe and get it soon.
-
3 OdpowiedziA hunter that's bad a pvp WITH BLADEDANCER? my brothers we are forsaken may the divines cleanse this poor soul!

Heavy ammo helps a lot as you can rack up a few kills. Keep with a few people, safety in numbers, then you have a better chance of getting a kill or getting an assist. Map knowledge is key too. Took me a few rotations to find a few places where I can pick off a few people. Some maps I do well at some I still struggle with. Play cautiously, less times you die the better. Keep with it and it will happen. It took me over a month or so but I just sat down on day and didn't stop till it was done. Took just over 4 hours but it is really worth it.
-
I suck in PVP. I've also completed the Thorn bounty 3 times. It's not that hard, it just takes time.
-
I feel your pain as well, it does seem like Hunters have a rougher go with this bounty than the other two characters. +1 to ShatteredK1NG's comment about a void fusion rifle as a secondary. I'm a mediocre PvP player at best on a good day, and having void light/BEWARE is how I did Thorn Crucible #1. I was fortunate to get Atheon's Epilogue and ground through the Crucible stage of Thorn bounty #2 this weekend, and have that stage to do yet with Thorn bounty #3. I completed the Crucible stages in the Control playlist. It also helps to play conservatively. Common sense kind of stuff... Example: Don't rush around corners going after someone, because they're probably waiting for you. Try to stick with team members (and I admit... let them go first. You may only get an assist, but that still counts, but that also means they'll probably die first and then you know where the "bad guys" are. lol) And if you don't have it, make sure to use the Perfect Balance perk on Epilogue. :) I've never really dug PvP at all, but as I was working on it this weekend, it wasn't actually that bad and I actually kind of enjoyed it. I'm still not good, but I'm not dreading Thorn Crucible #3 nearly as much now. :) Oh, and try to stay calm. You're going to die... a lot. But getting worked up only succeeds in helping you lose focus, which leads to playing poorly. *end PSA* lol

Sorry bud. I got the thorn when I was a fresh 27. Twas a bitch
-
Damn that sucks man. I feel for you. When I last did the bounty I used my defender titan with Atheons epilogue, the vog sniper (I forget the name) and a void heavy machine gun. Took me an hour and 30min. I'm doing it again but this time with my warlock. Ima do the same combo with my weapons and use voidwalker. Just take your time. Camp out in a corner with your sniper if your not that good. I think it's better to use a sniper then a shotgun cause that requires you to get up close. And there's a chance of dying there. Best of luck to you.
-
Get rid of the shotty and get a void fusion rifle. I did it in 10 games with one, it's much easier that way.
-
Don't... don't do invisibility in crucible. It's garbage. We can still see you. My advice would be to get quickdraw and fast twitch, and then run around with a void shotty and play really cheaply.
-
4 OdpowiedziIm with you bro, I cheated.... had my 19 year old son finish the pvp part. I was up to 248, after 2 days of swearing. Had epilogue and a rare void shotty.
-
Easiest bounty imo. Finished it in 2 hours. Gunslinger suros regime prost fr3 (void) from the gunsmith jolder's hammer (void) if you are skilled with a machine gun, have a decent void one, and make sure to get heavy ammo every time its no problem
-
I've done it twice now: First time was for the 1.0 version and I used: Gallahad-E - Autoriffle no elemental damage Hide 'n seek - Void Shotgun (the one from dead orbit) Sultan-5 - Void damage rocket launcher Second time was for the 2.0 version (like a week ago) and I used: Vex Mythoclast - Fusion with solar damage Swordbreaker - Void Shotgun (the one from the raid) Corrective Measure - LMG from VoG At first I tried as you did with the Atheon's Epilogue, but I noticed that I sucked with it, so I was being killed more times than kills that I was getting, so I ended up using the Vex just not to lose kills (or die), I played regular, just being really careful when I got heavy I squezed as many kills as I could from it, and finally finished the bounty like in 3 days, around 1 hour of crucible per day.
-
2 OdpowiedziDamn I don't even pvp man it didn't take me that long you can complete it going negative every match
-
I don't care much for epilogue, I also run hunter bladedancer, I usually run The Last Word and either Two In The Morgue or a comparable sniper (The Supremacy is great if you got it from Queen's event). If all else fails fusion rifles are your friend.
-
1 Odpowiedźits hard but not too hard if your decent if you can't do it then you don't deserve the exotic go an get them from xur

Edytowany przez użytkownika Courage_Wolf_Sez: 1/12/2015 11:05:36 PMYou're pushiing it. You may not notice it, but your style of play changes when you're actively thinking of playing a specific way for a specific goal. Stop playing for the bounty and just play like its a normal game. But you should know, AFTER you've finished taking out 500 guardians, it doesn't get any easier because you're going to have to do the Summoning Pits with the Epic modifier on so you will most likely not be able to complete it without a full fireteam.
-
Fusion rifle...it's frown upon. But...Thorn is good.
-
on my 3rd and last thorn have one for each. just used fusion for 1st during this one it should have an easy button on the side of the gun. imagine if I used them more and got the timing down little better ppl would hate me.
-
I wish I had Atheons Epilogue when I did it. Just blink and shotgun and camp heavy ammo
-
I did this bounty once but I remember my experience. I used the same loadout as you and if I got my hands on a void shotty or fusion rifle, I'd switch to that in small maps. PvP was fun maybe a little over a month ago and I wasn't that bad even for how little I played it... now I can hardly play anymore because of how much crap I go through (believe me, it's the same as you. I tried it once the other day and yea... Got Rekt pretty hard) but it also doesn't help that I had an unusually large amount of more Christmas noobs on my team for every game I played. I'm starting to cut down on Destiny time and I've switched over to Unity, then maybe I'll come back when the HoW DLC comes out and see if I can get a fresh grip on it again. Sometimes walking away for a bit and trying something else can help.
