Anyone who frequents the forum probably knows that I have been a staunch defender of Bungie from day 1. I have called people morons for thinking content was taken out. I watched my buddy play a level earlier and it was the SAME -blam!-ING level that was shown in a trailer 5 months ago. I assumed the section was simply cut from the game for good. Not cut for the sake of making money.
I defended you guys because I could not believe that a game company in this day and age could be SO stupid and SO arrogant as to believe they could get away with it. No more. I am gonna download this DLC because I sadly already paid for it but after that I am done unless they actually start telling us the truth.
To all those I doubted and insulted I would like to apologize. I just never thought a company could think they could get away with something like this in this day and age.
EDIT: I finished the "Expansion" "Story" missions (Sadly I pre-ordered the DLC) in around 45 mins.
Add on top of that the fact the "Expansion" includes the following....
- No new cutscenes
- No in depth explanation of what is going on
- No new open areas to explore.
- All 3 "Story" missions take you to places you have already played through and only [u][i][b]VERY[/b][/i][/u] momentarily take you to places you haven't
- Only a 2 level increase to the cap
- A raid that by all accounts is easier than Atheon was in the beginning.
Bungie calling this an "Expansion" is a travesty.
As if that all wasn't bad enough Eris is a re-skinned version of the Queens Wrath event. Random NPC somewhere in the tower has a ship behind her and exchanges bounties for rep for gear and never really explains why you are doing things for her in the first place.
If you take a step back and look at the way she and her whole set up is you will see that it is essentially the SAME EXACT design that the Queens Wrath set up was.

BUNGIE did not cut content. There was much more. Activision wanted to cut content so they both could make more "money". This was a very solid looking game at the beginning. It still is personally a solid game but with those cuts it did loose a lot of fans.

Despite the low amount of content, I have sunk more hours into it that most any other game (with the exception of Diablo 2). However this "they removed content" is just spoiled kid silliness. Whether Bungie/Activision did or did not section out content to become DLC beforehand is irrelevant, and moreso, their prerogative to do so as it is their product to sell. It is also our prerogative to not buy it if we so choose. Simply "wanting a game" that is under development to be a certain thing is simply not an entitlement for it to make all your dreams to come true. Here are some thoughts to consider: * If a game fails to meet your expectations is not the devleoper's fault...that's your problem. * If a developer chooses to slice and dice a game into 50 million small DLCs, that's their choice. If you buy it, you might feel duped, but it's your choice to buy or not buy the next time. They will suffer for it if enough people feel similarly. * If images of DLC content is shown early on (the link's references to Reef playable areas), it is not conclusive that it is complete. It could simply be an image of a more finalized area...with tons of development to go. The point is you don't know for sure. This type of whining from gamers is a great reason why developers usually don't show their cards until things are done and dusted. * So what if DLC is on-disc?...if Honda sells cars without wheels, because they are locked in the trunk with keys you have to pay extra for...they will eventually stop selling cars. Get over it. Bottom line is if you like it play it, if not move on. Life is too short to be upset as such petty things.

As an economy, the only other that comes close is the illegal drug trade: no regulation, less informed and weak-willed consumers, and millions to be made by those who outsmart them. For example, I've witnessed many who adamantly voiced their disapproval of this game and those responsible for it, saying that they won't be taken advantage of, and do so by playing another game. That other game was CoD, PRODUCED BY ONE OF THE SAME PUBLISHERS AS DESTINY, Activision, and championed it as a consumer victory. It is not. Gamers are vocal, but that is all... They make noise, but never move or act. This isn't a rallying cry, because there can be none with addicts. Their fate is to submit and be taken advantage of, to be fickle and have no resolve, to be driven like dumb cattle by those who have even the slightest inclination to do so, and those who see the profits that are to be easily plucked from such low hanging branches. This industry is no longer in it's infancy, it is no longer a niche, and it makes entirely too much money to be allowed to continue to operate as though it is. Returning after some years away, I feel as though I've walked into a crack house. Yes, these are just games, but it is also my free time and entertainment. To me, the later represent what is most important, and so the former inherits that greater importance. I was an irresponsible consumer by pre-ordering based only on a companies word, I'll admit. But I know going forward that it will never happen again. Activision AND Bungie will not see any money from me for a very long time, if ever again. I am not hurt, I just value my money and dignity, and I dislike being lied to and mislead. If a business does something you think is dishonest, then you stop paying them to do so, it is that simple. There is a lot to like about Destiny, and I do enjoy playing it. I even think that the three story levels in TDB are wonderful. Destiny is a great mix of shooting gallery and golf, and I enjoy it as such. It is not, however, what was advertised. And, what it is, I would not have purchased. It is simply not something I would want to buy. I am one person, and there will be no difference made by me not buying anything from these two companies again other than my own peace of mind. This industry will continue on its current path, and will surely get worse before it gets better because unhappy completionists and addicts will continue to support it. If you are happy with the game, then this obviously does not apply to you.

For those of you who say that Bungie didn't cut content, then explain what they had been doing for the many years they were making Destiny and during the year that they postponed it? I liked the original game, but the story is so far from complete and the multiplayer is dull and dry. I'm not going to buy any more Destiny content until there is a lot of it and it's at a low price.

1 OdpowiedźI knew about this and still got the season pass. Why? Cause I like the way Destiny plays and that's it. I'm not wasting money either, cause it's only wasteful spending it you believe so. I have two jobs, I can easily finance the money to do so.

6 OdpowiedziI knew content was cut. So what. That's the business model in 2014 at this point. You think all those battlefield and cod map packs are designed 6 months after the game ? Hell no. They release this stuff right when the player base is just starting to get bored. Deal with it out quit playing video games. Ps: I really enjoyed the dark below.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Kiyoshi-Prime: 12/11/2014 3:46:43 PMAt the end of the day the game is what it is, and it's entirely up to each individual participant to purchase all future expansions ...or not, it's seem's some players feel cheated out of the new expansion regarding content but I'm actually on the other side of the fence...when it comes down to it 90% of the Destiny population play the game for the social aspect....the moment i join my fellow Guardians star side in a fire team, working together and having fun, getting our daliy fix of being trigger happy & blood drunk......in those hours, all the Destiny "MMO" politics goe's right out the window....And that's worth the 20£$€ alone. For 90% of the Destiny population, and I'm guessing this is the general trend...we will continue to purchase expansions (even reluctantly sometimes) simply to take part in new content with your friends, because thats where the real enjoyment of the game comes from. If you're the 10% who won't purchase simply out of your personal position and individual principles...I respect that! But Im guessing Activision have done their homework, and the popularity of the game simply speaks for itself.

60 OdpowiedziAre you people mentally ok? You knew what was in the DLC. You knew it. The 3 story missions were new areas in existing content. Have you been to the seraphin vault? What about the deeep part of the chamber of night? I haven't tried the strike, but it looks awesome as does the play station exclusive. Raid is all new content that I would've payed 20 dollars for alone. 3 new missions 1-2 strikes 1 raid 3 maps A shit ton of exotics New armor New level cap What the -blam!- do you people want?

To each their own, if you pre ordered it before you got the game that my friend is no ones fault but yours I got burned by getting cod elite back in the mw3 days, so now I wait, I bought my destiny expansion pass on Monday for 29$ (thank you Xbox rewards) so 14.50 for a game I have thrown 200+ hours into and now will have a new raid to do is a pretty good bargain. My ROI expectation for games is 1$/hour, if I get that from my purchase im happy, it's cheaper then seeing a movie, going out for drinks, the cheapest pack of smokes here is 10$, a Big Mac combo is nearly 10, I was done with destiny before this but for 14.50 it saves me going out and spending 70$ on a new game But like I said to each their own, people need to do their research and if you don't like something just don't get it, no one is forcing you too

In my humble opinion the point playing games is to have fun and enjoy them. So as long as I'm having fun I'm not going to complain that some changes in staff before launch changed Destiny. I am having fun and have more stuff to do than time to do it, I will see what Destiny 2 is like before my goodwill runs out...
