Light 30 should only be available from Raid
I've worked hard at VoG to get to 30 and now u can get +30 gear from Iron Banner. Doesn't seem right. When the expansion comes out with new raid, is there a point in doing it? Or should I just wait till Iron Banner type event happens and get gear from there?

My raid legs took 30 mins to get from start to chest. My IB arms took at least 5 hrs of up and downbattles and I enjoyed doing it. I'm glad I have both. Looking forward to raiding or next IB to finish set.

Why should it? I was fortunate enough to get 3 raid gears to go with my exotic helm in just 3 raid attempts.. That took me a total of 5 hours roughly.. To get both of my characters to lvl 4 ib took me roughly 16 hours each.. And that doesn't even get me lvl 30 on either of them without the raid so I'll have to go there anyway and pray for the helm or armor to have a shot at 30. So by those numbers I could do the raid about 10 times in the time I spent in the iron banner and would only need to come out with 2 raid pieces to be just as fruitful (as far as raid gear/ib gear standards are concerned) and that doesn't include the metric shit ton of ascendants I'd be getting while raiding.

Iron banner takes work and strategy against multiple different opponents taking about 50 wins to get just the boots. We also can't get to level 30 as we don't get a chest or helmet so we are still force to do the raid. Here is where the issue you bring up is. Random drops in the raid. You had to "work hard" to get a lucky drop which effects your level. That is pathetic. You shouldn't have to get lucky to be level 30 that's bulls hit. You my friend got screwed. That doesn't mean that the iron banner is bad. It means the raid is the problem. Lvl 30s got slaughtered by me (29) in the iron banner. Why? Because I'm better than them. Out levels sure don't say that though and that's what the banner proved. Lvl 30s are lucky, not talented. That is how this game is broken. No insults intended

Nope you have to spend hours of time on iron banner just to get up to the levels to buy the stuff for exorbitant prices. They said once iron banner is gone your level resets until next time. So if you didn't make it to lvl 3 or higher. You are screwed because you can't buy anything until than anyway. Some people play the game for different reasons and you don't need to hate on them for that. Also they can't get all the armor just from iron banner. I played the raid over 15 times on normal and hard and I still have yet to get the legs part of the armor. So I said screw it and I played iron banner to get the last part of my armor to be lvl 30 for my hunter. It is a realistic alternative.

Some people just don't do PVE content the same way that some people only do PVE content. this is the way for PVP players to get to 30 since they don't do the Raid usually.

I mean, I get where you're coming from, but I've never gotten any raid gear from it except for two sets of boots on my Titan, so if the raid is the only way then it needs to be adjusted some.

Not bothered about banner to much of a chore

It helps you get to 30. He only sold boots and gauntlets. You still need a chest piece and helmet so people still have to complete the raid.

I've worked hard at both. It took me ONE trip through the hard raid to get the helmet. In my case, Iron Banner took MORE effort. And what about the people who got their raid gear from cheesing Atheon? Where do they stand as far as whether or not they "deserve" to be lvl 30? For that matter, can you prove that some random guy wearing raid gear wasn't just carried by his team? I choose to wear the IB armor despite my raid gear because I think it looks awesome, does that mean I didn't "earn" my level? Funny how nobodies armor actually tells you anything about what they have or have not accomplished.

Why should you only be able to get to 30 through raids?! Why can't there be a PvP way & a PvE way to get to lvl 30? Not to mention that you still need to raid for a helm or chest to reach lvl 30 with iron banner gear. Any time I tried to carry afks through iron banner, my team lost. So I guess I don't understand why you feel entitled to depict how ppl get any of their gear. Your post is about as bad as the ppl who call themselves the true master race of 30s. Which means no exotics. So should I complain that you shouldn't be 30 b/c you have an exotic equipped? Why does anyone care so much about other players & what they get. My brother has played less than a month & is going to be lvl 29 soon & he just got thunder lord last night. I was happy for him. Same thing when I saw a guy get hawkmoon in a strike. Good for them. Why does everyone pitch a fit like they are entitled to whatever someone else gets? In life, some ppl have to work for everything, & others get it handed to them. It may suck, but it's life. One day, an iron banner armored player may help you. So just relax & enjoy the game.

Maybe if you were guaranteed raid gear. But your not. Is it fair that a lvl 26 gets carried through there first time and gets 2 pieces of armor. When some of the 28's that carried them has one piece after doing it multiple times? But that's the price we pay for RNG. I have exotic chest, raid boots, ib gauntlets, and legendary helm on my 29 warlock. So do I not deserve to be lvl 30 IF I get the raid helm?

Your argument holds no merit. As someone with one of each character raid-30 and two of which have iron banner gauntlets (one of them boots) I can safely say I like the difference. They look nice, have ordinary upgrades (like auto rifle reload, YES) and still serve defense and light purposes. You complain about lack of variety, and then complain about variety when you get it. Good god, child.

This game is so random that I think it's great bungie let us purchase a couple of 30 light gear. I have a 30 warlock that took forever. It took so long that it became annoying to even play destiny. So now that I am leveling a Hunter and played the raid once I got one piece of gear and shards and energy the rest. Lame. So I grinded hard all week to get my level up to purchase one piece of ib gear. So yea I think that's awesome that they let us do that. You think the raid is hard? Yea right. Okay ib and that more frustrating because of how broken PvP is. The raid is chill compared to ib.

Not everyone is lucky with the random drops. I've done several radios, but only got one bit of raid armor. I was hovering at a low 27 for a while (didn't want to blow energy on items that won't let me hot 30). Because of the boots from the iron banner, I'm now mid 29 and can finally not be a total waste in the hard raid. Why should there only be ONE way to be a bada**? If these guys put enough effort in the iron banner to get all the stiff, good for them, they can enjoy the gear. As a side thought, it also adds a little variety. Don't need every level 30 looking the exact same.

This is the kind of stuff that gives us 30s a bad rep. 30 is 30. People earned 30 by getting raid gear and by getting iron banner gear. It really doesn't matter. The only thing I have to say is that the perks for ib gear is awful compared to the raid gear. I get 2 extra gjallerhorn shots with my raid boots compared to the scout or auto rifle ammo bonus of ib boots (I am a handcannoner too so the perk is worthless to me for ib).
