I used to genuinely enjoy the Atheon fight. I took pleasure in beating him without cheesing him.
Now, however, it isn't fun. Taking a fun, interesting mechanic and swapping it for RNG is a slap to the face. Especially when the community vociferously opposed this "fix." Moreover, the "fix" is wholly insulting in the face of numerous other bugs that ruin the fight and make beating it more a matter of luck than skill.
I think Bungie might have lost my business with the RNG teleport "bug fix." I was genuinely enjoying the game. I felt that most, if not all, of the other patches were pretty well thought out, genuine attempts to make the game better.
The Atheon teleport "fix" is just a middle finger to the players. I no longer even want to do the raid. It feels like work. If I wanted to work, I would stay at work, not come home and play a damned game.
EDIT: I am talking about the Hard Mode. Normal mode you can deal with the glitches because you can revive people. However, in Hard Mode one or two glitches occur in almost every fight that kill someone. Being down a person or two is big deal in HM. Moreover, Atheon with all 29's is a bitch because of the aforementioned bugs. When you get an invincible minotaur who won't lose the last 5% of his health even though the struggling level 29 relic holder smashes him 5 times, and the minotaur then two-shots him, it is not fun, it is frustrating. At least when you could pick the portal team you could manage the bugs by having the best person hold the relic (for example a level 30 sunsinger who can compensate for being two-shotted by an invincible enemy with a revive). Bungie gave us the middle finger.
EDIT 2: for those of you claiming I should just get better and beat it, I did beat the raid on Hard this week. I am just saying, the Battle of the Bugs was onerous, and not very fun. More than 50% of our wipes over the several hours it took us to beat Atheon were due to bugs. Basically had to have the stars align and get lucky to beat him. If you have a party of all 30s with maxed Gjallarhorn it is less of an issue because you can kill him in two teleports, and thus mitigate the probability you will encounter a bug. However, if your party has to fight him down over multiple teleport phases, the odds that you will encounter a bug that just wipes the raid increases enormously. Hence why I call Atheon the Battle of the Bugs.

These things should t happen in the most importent part of the game.

11 OdpowiedziI can agree. I played the raid this last weekend on my second character and I experienced most of these bugs that are causing multiple un-necessary wipes. 1. Teleporting only 2 people. How hard is it to select 3 targets? Apparently harder than $500 million will pay for. 2. Being hit inside the relic shield. We gather in the center and still have half the team go down from random splash damage. 3. Portal mechanics. Many of us ran straight through the portal. We had this happen so many times it was not funny. Please Bungie, fix these bugs! This raid really shows how little experience Bungie has with complex game mechanics.

I find that the most common problem in hard mode now is when randoms get teleported not everybody has the right guns to kill the oricals fast enough.

2 OdpowiedziSplash damage in shield bubble, minotaur regenerate health, oracles coming back to life, teleported while detained, only two teleport, supplicants inside portal, with a sprinkle of disconnects from bee and baboon... All for some chatterwhite

7 OdpowiedziI found him to still be fun. Just did hard raid two days ago as my helm suggests.... I dont mind the random teleports.

Forget fixing the progress-hindering bugs like indestructible minotaurs and insta-death detainment fields. It's obvious that the more important matter is finding as many ways as possible to bottleneck your progression with RNG nonsense.

With all the boot errors this game is simply frustrating and not fun. Why do we play it?
-
I've only been able play for about 10 minutes on hard from the Atheon checkpoint before everybody else decided to try and cheese him. I don't have the full experience just yet, and I'm a bit bummed about it. I'd like to run the whole raid on hard. Maybe one day I'll find those who will give it a go with me.

2 guys beat the entire raid on hard without cheesing anything. There are no excuses for us. If two of them can do it, six of us shouldn't be a problem.

5 OdpowiedziI haven't really had any problems fight Atheon, though I can see how the warp teams can sometimes be annoying. I don't really see to much else different with this fight. Tears Collected +1 11/300 Tear Drinker Rank 1 [Screeching Skeet Demon Lvl 10]

1 OdpowiedźIt only sucks when you have a limited amount of 30s on hard, let alone 30s that can use the relic. That minotaur is a bitch and 29s usually get 1-shotted by the hobgoblins. Definitely not liking this update as much as I thought I did.

The random teleport isnt fun either. Makes it impossible to find teams capable of doing it and really becomes anoying now

3 OdpowiedziMy biggest complaint on the Atheon fight is that, for the most part, the Destiny community was, for once, almost completely united in that they didn't want the random teleports and Bungie gave us the finger and changed it anyway. That's not good business. They said it was a bug to begin with but the Raid had been open for what, 1.5 months by that point? Why wasn't it addressed earlier? Beyond that, I have no issue with the randomness. Makes it a bit more challenging but not insurmountable. Just gotta take a few lumps with less experienced raiders. Generally though, with good communication and some patience, everyone will get on the same page. Assuming your Raid team can avoid the bugs. Seriously, can we get Johnny Rico and the Roughnecks on this?

2 OdpowiedziReading all this stuff makes me feel better about my mom taking my Ps4 away. Now bungie has time to pull their -blam!-ing sh!t together before I come back. If people are still complaining about this, as well as over/underpowered weapons, sh!tty raid bugs, and a variety of other things, then they need to start firing the people who make patch decisions.

3 OdpowiedziI'll still play the game, i enjoy the universe and the fiction. However, Bungie pandered to a developer who through a temper tantrum over folks beating his raid to easily. It was a horrible decision. There was no good reason to add RNG to the teleporting of players and now there are so many bugs in the Atheon fight, its a mess. W ran it three times this past week, and without players who all know exactly what's going on, it's a trian wreck waiting to happen. We've encountered just about every bug there is... minotaurs respawning / reviving after dead... oracles showing death animation, but not dead, party wiping 'succumbing to oracles' while times' vengence is active... losing time's vengence in the middle of the count down timer, 0-4 people being taken to away team, etc, etc, etc... when you have a crew that also doesn't know what to do when on away team, it makes it that much more difficult. They are confused with what to do. Bungie really dropped the ball. There were so many things they could have focused on, and somebody should have told they whinning little brat developer, no, the community is having FUN with our GAME... we are NOT going to change the raid, its working great... its already out there... so what if they go to the back and setup strategically who goes away in the atheon fight, they are thinking and working together as a TEAM... isn't that what we wanted them to do? Now... it's just a mess, its chaos... and they have introduced so many bugs its gross. Instead of deploying new content and working on building the experience, somebody pandered to this developer's interest that got butt-hurt over folks playing his raid the way he didn't wnat them too... someone higher up should of had the cahoonas to tell him "tough / deal with it. The community likes it." The baby bumpers idea was dumb too... you want folks not to push off your boss, no problem... I get that... I even support it... why not just put a horizontal field below that if the boss passes through it... he auto teleports back up, and is at full health? Apply the change to all bosses... done?! You still let the players push them off, you don't add "baby bumpers" and viola... if they try to push the boss off anywhere, back, front, you name it... the boss comes back, full health and guardians continue to get wrecked... bet they stop pushing him off, really fast... < baby bumpers... sad >
-
1 OdpowiedźI agree that making it harder should have taken a back seat to fixing it first. Can't push Atheon off the back, push him off the front... Seriously bungie??? And now people are pushing the Templar off... I wanna play the raid not cheese it (I can't find a team who will just play it because they are so busy running it with 3 IDENTICAL characters thanks to the rng loot)
-
Its not to bad on hard. Honestly it shows the weak members of your fireteam. Those underskilled and undergeared (weapons especially). I was against it at first as well however after 2 hard mode runs Atheon feels like a legit boss now. I have got the minotaur glitch though as well as succumbing to the oracles when all are clearly down.
-
I agree completely. Why don't they worry about the freaking portals not working instead of messing up something that we understood as a boss mechanic?

2 OdpowiedziThe teleporting isn't a problem. it's the invincible praetorians and partial teleports (only 1 or 2 being ported) that they added that make the raid frustrating.
-
The bugs on normal are still annoying. I keep blowing myself up with rockets in the bubble :/
-
1 OdpowiedźI'm liking the change in the Normal Raids. Keeps things interesting. I think most have adjusted after a couple of runs. Even if it glitches, its forgiving enough to recover from it. Running hard (being only a 29) there is less room for error and mucking around. You really just want to get the job done.
