Don't rank up with Cryptarch!
When the patch goes live all legendary engrams will be legendary or better. When you rank up with the Cryptarch you often get a legendary engram or two. Thus free legendaries/exotics patch day. Save your engrams!
The goal is to save as many engrams as possible then come patch day you rank up with the cryptarch 2 or 3 times and get those legendary engrams in the mail which will in fact be legendary or better items.

The ammount of purple emgrams you would have to save would be way to many to be worth it.

I don't use my blue engrams. But I do use my legendary ones right now. In fact I just received a legendary rocket launcher from one. :)

I dont think that's what he means people. Hes saying to save up all the rare/legendary engrams you have to get REP from turning them in, and then by turning them in on patch day and gaining REP you get legendary engrams that then turn into exotics or legendaries.

When the Cryptarch levels up, you will get a batch of engrams and such. He is saying save all the engrams to use as XP fodder to level up the Cryptarch, ensuring you get more purple items from him reaching the next level. Regardless if it is a blue engram, it will still give him XP..that was the point of his OP. But as a bonus, the Rare engram itself may turn into a Legendary with the patch changes.

L2Read. Hes not saying that you shouldnt id legends. Hes saying that you should save all engrams to powerlevel your cryptarch rank when the patch goes live.

No. They already said that all legendary engrams you have will turn into rares when the patch goes live so use them! While you can. Is what they said. Also. Only legendary an rare Engrams that are dropped After the patch goes lice will be affected. So any engram's you have now can not be saved for next week. As all your legendary engrams you have will turn blue if you don't use them before the patch.

He is just saying to use the engrams acquired before the patch to rank up the cryptarch after the patch because he sends you packages filled with engrams that will be acquired after the patch, so they won't be demoted to a lower quality.

Doesn't do me much good. At rank 4 and I've only ever gotten blue engrams from him.

I thought about this as soon as I read the patch notes last week. Sadly, my cryptarch is already level 20 so sucks it'll take so much longer to level him up. However, I could always just make a new character I guess.

20 OdpowiedziI think he's saying to hold non-Legendary Engram's (Rare ones) until the patch. Use them after the patch, since they will still be Rare, to level up with the Cryptarch. When you level up, he'll give you a Legendary Engram, which will then be guaranteed to give you a Legendary result.
