Don't rank up with Cryptarch!
When the patch goes live all legendary engrams will be legendary or better. When you rank up with the Cryptarch you often get a legendary engram or two. Thus free legendaries/exotics patch day. Save your engrams!
The goal is to save as many engrams as possible then come patch day you rank up with the cryptarch 2 or 3 times and get those legendary engrams in the mail which will in fact be legendary or better items.

It is very posable that they will remove any exp gains from engrams picked up prior to patch. I mean if they can change legendary to rare who knows what there capable of.

1 OdpowiedźThere is a slight flaw. All engrams prior to the update will be removed or considered useless so you gotta use em asap. It was mentioned in the notes.

2 OdpowiedziI complety understand what the autor is saying, i'm pointing out a flaw. If you have a legendary engram, not mail, you should use it today. Why? Because tomorrow it will become a blue. Why is that bad, even if you are just saving it to level? Because you get more Rep points for legendaries, and tomorrow it will be blue..and will be worth less AND you loose out on the chance for a legendary(Debatable). Even if you happen to rank up Cryptarch today, just don't claim the mail. Because the Engrams don't spawn until you open the mail... understand?

1 OdpowiedźShort and sweet version Save blues , use purples, don't touch the cryptarch lvl up packages in the postmaster.

2 Odpowiedzi@OP: Would you be willing to edit this to say simply that you shouldn't pick up your reward from the courier? At least then you wouldn't have to worry about stockpiling issues.

If you plan on doing this save your blues but use your purples. Purples will turn into blues after patch.

The OP stated to save all engrams and to turn them in after patch to level up the cryptarch rep so he can send you legendary engrams in the mail which will be in fact legendary items. It is pointless to level up cryptarch rep pre patch as all legendarys he sends for each level will be rare. The OP is correct in both his logic and wording. So stop flaming him for your reading comprehension problems.

Both turned out to be exotics. Universal remote and arms for Titan (I'm hunter). Was I just super lucky (haven't even gotten any legendaries yet) or has this been patched already?

The ammount of purple emgrams you would have to save would be way to many to be worth it.
