The gov shouldn't make this type of law. This is something that should be up to the parent. I'm 18 and even though I could play M- rated games, my parents tell me that I cannot until I move out. I RESPECT their decision because they know whats best for me and my younger brother(16). Besides there are more violent things then video games in this world ( such as movies and TV) that my parents let me watch. There are tons of influences for kids out there. In my opinion, I say television and film have made me more of an edgy person. But who should decide what kids should watch. Not the gov but parents. After watching my first R-rated movie (Saving Private Ryan at around 15-16 years old) my parent talked about it with me and guess how I thought of the movie? I was sad and disgusted that people could be that violent. I had no feelings of violence after watching this movie and it has become one of my favorites not because of violence but because of story background and the feeling I had after watching it. Yes this behavior does come from maturity but also because my parents have taught me how violence effects not just the criminal but also the victim and family. All in all, parents should have more of a role in what their kids watch, play, and do. Movies and games are what I love to do and watch and even though me and my brother had limited freedoms on what to play and what to watch, I still think parents should have the responsibility to give their kids guidance on what to watch and not watch. Because I'm not the government's child. So with this soapbox speech, I will not sign this paper. Why? I feel that parents should be more responsible with whats up with their kids. If something that would ban video games and movies is passed into law, I swear there will be just as much violence in kids and teens as there is now. Don't believe me? Look at what happened when they banned liquor. What happened there? Thank you, AMafia

Or many can try this thing called parenting, teaching your children the difference between fantasy and reality. Why do we need another piece of legislation to dictate our lives further, shelter us from actually raising our children in a fashion where they learn right from wrong?

I'm with you but, Isn't that why games have ratings now of days? Are you against children watching the news also? It's all about a child's upbringing (Parents) if you can teach your kid some common sense so he can differentiate what's real and what's not and stop blaming video games and music then this world would be a better place.

And it should be a felony offense to do anything that could be considered violent in front of a child. And it should be illegal teaching children the dangers of a stranger or an attack on the school because it would be speaking of violence. Oh and also we shouldn't teach any history because it is just [i]full[/i] of violence. Not to mention we would have to ban the existence and knowledge of guns because that gets into a child's head and promotes violence. There's too many flaws in your logic. I expected better from you. According to evidence I picked up, you must have gotten stomped by a kid in CoD (because CoD is the only place where adults complain about kids) and needed a way to fume. All of you are laughing but it's true, video games do lead children to do things they wouldn't otherwise do. In addition my house insurance doesn't cover damage caused by nova bombs so I'm having to sell my daughter.
