Level Cap is Above 20 For Anyone Wondering
How would that last 10 years? It would take like a year to progress 2 levels LMAO. It can't be 20 probably just a placeholder, maybe just at launch or the first game.
If it's Level 20 at launch they will increase it within DLC like how Borderlands did it or increase the level cap in each new game. Maybe by intervals of 20?

Once you level your character to 20, additional xp goes toward currency, motes of light. This currency can be used to purchase aesthetic items from the speaker.
In order to level up beyond level 20 you must acquire legendary(purple) or exotic(gold armor pieces. These armor values have "Light" values. Light values increase your level beyond 20.
[b][u]EDIT 2[/u][/b]: For all of you who think I don't know there will be sequels. YES, I know. I knew that at the start of writing this thread. Just clearing up confusion.

12 OdpowiedziWow this game is not going for 10 years. Please use some common sense. Dlc for this game will be like 2 years max, why would they keep a game that is also on last gen going 10 years. They meant 1 of 2 things. Either the development cycle plus playtime is 10 years or the franchise is 10 year probably entailing a trilogy. No console game is played for 10 years, come on man. We will see Destiny 2 within 4 years I can bet on that.

I noticed while watching the IGN exclusive video on the endgame activities, there was a level 29 Titan. I'm not sure if this is because of these motes of light or not. All I know is that there is a progression, or, rather, leveling system even after 20. I don't think they will raise the base cap of 20 with DLC, but perhaps the "motes of light level" cap. This is all speculation though. I don't have any hard evidence on this.

From what I understand the EXP level cap is 20. You get to level 20 with EXP and that's it. You can get a higher level though through different means, such as the motes.

Level cap is higher than 20 and also Bungie's contract with Activision is they have to make 2-3 games. Destiny being 1 already. (from what I read)

No matter how many enemies you kill, no matter how many raids you do, crucible matches you play, you will stay at 20. You can, of course, equip gear that increases your level beyond. That doesn't mean you are permanently higher level, so basically you are still level 20.

7 OdpowiedziLight stat (not motes of light, thats a currency) increase your level temporarily. Until you unequip the armor that gave you the Light bonus. http://i.imgur.com/J6x9f9q.jpg The cap is 20. You physically do not level past that, but gaining levels through light probably serve to allow you to damage the 30+ level enemies in raids and Nightfall missions. This is because you can still kill high level or (??) lvl enemies, but it takes hours. With a smaller level gap, you have the ability to kill them faster.

Leveling in the beta and alpha was tripled so it will take a while longer, also getting from 19 to 20 is supposed to be quite a hefty task, and motes of light are earned the same way as xp if I am correct, and my guess for cap with motes of light would be 30.

Bungie said that it won't take long to get to max level. They said that the real challenge will be in getting bigger and better gear.

2 OdpowiedziBungie wants to focus more on being able to play with friends. For example, if your friend(s) are/is a level 90 and you are a 10 you obviously can't play until you level grind for a week or two (if you have time) or your friend(s) creates another character. Instead they want the level cap low so once that is hit, it becomes a search for loot, strikes, raids, and PVP with your friend(s). The level has nothing to do with the length of the actual game.

just a guess but i would say that every other game will add 30+ levels ...so by part 3 ull be able to get to lvl 90+
